Unai Emery to carry England's ship in Europe.
Reckon West Ham and Liverpool will be out today.
Yep already planning annoying my team at work by talking about everyone getting behind England’s team in the semis.

Arsenal remain interested in Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz ahead of the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The Gunners have had numerous bids for the Brazil international, 25, rejected in recent windows.
I am 100% sure every word of this Football Insider scoop is true. It is, however, not a news story, just a recital of known facts.

Everyone knows the score, no hesitation needed. We will have to win and get to 72 most likely
Points? I’d say 69, maybe 70 in case of a GD swing. But agree with the rest of your post.
I’d also say this will have been more of a psychological blow to Spurs than us, as they sit 5th. Hope they crumble as usual

Well their last 5 years PL finishes are 3rd, 2nd, 6th, 3rd, probably 6th.
Not too shabby at all!
“Probably 6th” is doing a lot of work there. I’m guessing 8th behind Newcastle and Chelsea, who are above them if they win their game in hand (hopefully not their game vs us!)

Maybe i still haven't accepted our new reality under Emery but realistically i cant see us having this good of a season next year. It really is very hard to finish top 4 and Man U and Chelsea aren't going to keep dicking around forever are they. If we don't get Champs league this year it could be years before the opportunity comes again, that's why we cant let it slip.
This could be the first step of something great in the coming year's or another missed opportunity before we fall back into the middle of the pack again.
I mean I personally think Man U will absolutely keep dicking around forever. Shambles of a club now.

Is the coefficient based on the aggregate 2 game score or on a game by game basis ? Any one know ?
Both

I have said all season I think we will finish 5th, but 5th will get CL.
I now think 5th will not get CL… but I think we have a good shot at 4th.
So don’t listen to me basically.

He’s been great this season. He does have the niggling habit of being better from the bench than from the start quite often though. Weird.
Don’t think it’s weird, lots of wingers/attackers will do better coming on with fresh legs against a tired defence. Also think as more and more subs become the norm we will end up with more specialist subs/‘finishers’ for games.
But yes agree for where we are now we also need him to be great from the start (and he often has been, but I agree he’s more deadly coming off the bench)

Would any other top 4 club have such a thread?
About which of their best performances of the season was better? Seems reasonable whether you’re the Dog and Duck FC or the Harlem Globetrotters…
(note: Harlem Globetrotters probably not great at football)

Yeah city for me. we played them off the park, no one does that to City.
Actually much more should have been made of it, but obviously it's ickle CL chasing Villa ennit.
To be fair the big media question that week was “are Villa title contenders?” - but only after we beat Arsenal. Before that it was “Villa have done Arsenal a huge favour!” - the opposite of today
-
Great performances both, but I think the Man City win was the best I’ve seen us play (watching since 1990). This was class but we have beaten top teams lots of times. That Man City win was unique (almost literally, no-one else has ever dominated a Pep team like that in many of the stats)

Hopefully won’t start again for us this season or we are done for
Not picking on Dakota in the slightest here, just an example of many comments like this in mid-March. Funny to see what can change in less than a month in football
Can’t wait to see what this lad does with another six months of Unai’s coaching.

What a transformation after 2 days. Now we are in the driving seat for 4th.
I’m sure it’ll change hands a couple more times but let’s remember when it does that we can turn it around again!

Sign the deal, get him in. Buendia and Ramsey back in the squad and then that midfield is fine for the CL
-
That’s 5th locked in. 6-7 more points for 4th I think, Spurs won’t get more than 3 wins from 6.

I reckon he’d do about the same as he did at Arsenal.
Emery is better when he has a squad of humble players who are patient enough and willing to buy into his methods and meticulous level of detail.
He seems to struggle managing a squad of big egos. All his success in his career has come with sides that finish around 4-8th.
I don’t totally disagree but I think he would be way better at Arsenal today than last time out, and also think it’s generally overlooked that he’s PSG’s most successful ever manager. But yes I think he’s more suited to the ‘challenger’ bracket.

The biggest thing is that we have to play in Europe and they don't. That's what will be difference between 4th and 5th.
People are ignoring this too much when comparing our seasons. 100%. We’d have been miles ahead with no Europe. But, we want Europe! So it’s just life…

Spurs have sold Bale and Kane and still pushed on.
Don’t disagree with your wider point on sales sometimes being fine but I do question this… Spurs finished below us last season and are head-to-head with us this season - they’ve finished outside the top four in 3 of the last 5 seasons. Despite us coming from the Championship at a time they were already a CL team, and all the advantages they have with stadium etc, we are now basically in the same bracket of teams around the top four, not as good as the title chasers, hoping to make it into the CL and a few dodgy results away from slipping down the table. I’m not sure that can be called pushing on from their perspective.
Anyway - I think the big point from me, as others have said, is I think Watkins is worth more to us than he is to eg Arsenal, which makes it hard to see a deal getting done. But yes, if we sell him, it could lead to more good things - you only ever know in retrospect. Same as we are a better team now than when Grealish was playing for us, even though we lost our star/talisman/captain.

100% for me - you just can’t argue with those numbers. It’s been a step up from him from what was already a high base.

Lol. Yeah, if you judge players on one half of football. I don't though.
Any striker is capable of the odd goal.
Let's see how he goes over the next year or so.
I’m judging him on all the other good signs way before this game though. But go for it, double down! You won’t look sillier than those on here who said Grealish wouldn’t cut it in the PL

I wouldn't start Duran. We have better options, such as Diaby or Zaniolo.
We don't need Duran lumbering around, flying into tackles, getting sent off and smashing shots over the cross bar. That said, it would be good to have Diaby fresh for the winnable game against Brentford.
Disagree
