Spurs have lost four in a row and conceded 13 times in those matches.
The idea that they turn it around now and win three in a row (including against City) is fairly far-fetched. And even then we’d only need to beat Palace (not a huge ask) to cancel it all out. We’ll be fine.
Agree Spurs won’t win their next three. Less sure that it’s “not a huge ask” to beat Palace based on their results under the new manager. They’ve comprehensively beaten West Ham, Newcastle and Liverpool in the last fortnight.

What price Jack Grealish to finally fulfil his destiny and score the goal that puts Villa into the Champions league?
I’ve got a real feeling about this.

Are we really ruling out Manure finishing above Spurs in 5th?
Newcastle or Chelsea more likely than United IMO if Spurs don’t pick up any more points.

I still think we were on fumes then - that’s why I think they are such legends for pulling out the results to open the 7-point gap anyway!

Why are people talking as if we aren't going to win another game, total disrespect to Emery
For me it’s just because it’s a squad clearly running on fumes. They’ve been brilliant all season but they need a rest. Just a handful of games until they can have one… hopefully four not three, but I can’t blame them for being out on their feet!

As I said earlier, it’s FAR more likely than it was yesterday after today’s results.
People are acting like the results today made it closer.
It didn’t. Every game that passes without Spurs getting closer puts it more in our favour.
As shit as our game was today, today‘S results made it MORE likely that we’ll get top 4. Not less
Sure, I’m just saying the odds at the bookies were 16/1 yesterday and they are still 16/1 today - so much of a muchness.

Spurs still 16/1, so it’s obviously wildly in our favour. But it isn’t done.
Grealish winner for City vs Spurs please -

I think it’s because they have Sheffield United and Burnley, they could both be big victories. Draw with City.
We could lose badly against Liverpool and lose 1-0 to Palace.
It’s unlikely but I understand the worry.
We’ll finish fourth.
This is exactly where I am. Think we are good, and Spurs are done, but also totally understand how quickly it could switch and we could need something vs Palace.

It’s done
I mean I agree, they’ve lost four straight games so there’s no guarantee they even beat Burnley, but mathematically it’s not sewn up.
Im confident though - I just wish we had got it done today so we could go all-out on Thursday.

It’s done we are in the CL next year, not a chance do they win all three and make up the goal difference
This is overstating it - they could get two big wins vs the bottom feeders and draw with City for example (or Liverpool could put a few past us) so I’m not confident about the GD - but agree it’s ridiculously in our favour now.

Mings to Ipswich?
I don’t want to lose Mings but that’s a massive shout actually… far more likely he stays at Villa but funny that every professional team he’s played for is now going to be in the PL.

Even with Spurs beating Liverpool, it would still need us to lose both of our remaining games and Spurs to win 2 of their last 3.
That’s very very possible though. Personally though I don’t believe Spurs will beat Liverpool AND I hope we beat Brighton, before the above even comes on the table.

He plays where Unai puts him. Unai has decided he wants him there instead of McGinn or Tim and he's probably right.
He's been poor for 4/5 months.
Both things can be true. He can be the best stand-in DM, and also not a particularly great stand-in DM. If we shifted Konsa to the left side of CB, as a comparison, his form would likely suffer as well - even if it was Unai’s decision that it was the best move for the overall team.
Doug isn’t “poor without Kamara” because he needs someone to hold his hand, but because he has moved from a position where he’s one of the best in the league to one where he’s decent but not great.
But the lad has played almost every game in a team that’s on track to finish fourth. And a lot of the reason for that is points we picked up when he was flying in his preferred position.

No-one should be turning on Dougie, he's too good a player, too good a person, and done far too much for us for that.

Hey, even if we dont get another point, finish 5th, and get dumped out the cup, its still been the most amazing season in ooh, about 30 years!
Because we competed.Because games against the big clubs were no longer forgone conclusions.
Becasue some of the football we played was a pleasure.
Because mostly, the players were loving it, and enjoying it.
Because the fans in the ground were louder, longer than I can remember - to the point it was mentioned in almost every game tv commentary.
Because peope begane once again, to care.
Because we were talked about again.
And because of how much money I put on my 4/1 Spurs security bet when it came up on here the other day

Out of interest, did ypu consider the CWC a major European competition?
It was considered to be huge at the time and the ECL may be new, but eventually it will be held in similar regard.
In fact, the cup winners of.some countries qualify for the ECL like they used to for the CWC.
Another good comparison is the League Cup. We are proud of our record but it was a novelty when introduced. Likewise the Ryder Cup in golf.
