  1. ^ **** sake, if you are that easily offended then maybe the Internet and especially Villa Talk isn't the place for you. I would hate to see how you'd react to some of the less socially acceptable Off topic banter.

    Burakcan Kųnt

20 year old Turk midfielder playing for MSV Duisburg in the German 2nd division. I have never seen him kick a ball nor heard if he has even the slightest bit of talent but we simply must sign him based upon his name alone.

Also it would force the mods to change the word filter else we wouldn't be able to type his name without using special characters like ų instead of the u in Kunt.

  3. Back to the ongoing sock argument. Here's a break down of our sock choices throughout the clubs history.

NOTE some of these season we switch socks half way through in those cases I marked them down for the full season. That's why the years don't add up. Also number indicate year each season started.

    Years with claret socks:

    1887 1888 1889 1890 1891 1892 1893 1894 1895 1896 1897 1898 1899 1900 1901 1902 1903 1904 1905 1906 1907 1908 1909 1910 1911 1912 1913 1914 1915 1916 1917 1918 1919 1920 1921 1922 1957 1958 1959 1960 1961 1962 1963 1964 1965 1969 1970 1995 1996 1997 1999 2000 2002

    Total: 53

    Years with white socks:

    1965 1966 1967 1970 1971 1972 1973 1974 1986 1987 1993 1994

    Total: 12

    Years with Blue socks:

    1874 1875 1876 1881 1882 1883 1968 1969 1975 1976 1977 1978 1979 1980 1981 1982 1983 1984 1985 1986 1988 1989 1990 1991 1992 1998 2001 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009

    Total: 35

    Years with black socks:

    1877 1878 1879 1880 1884 1885 1924 1925 1926 1927 1928 1929 1930 1931 1932 1933 1934 1935 1936 1937 1938 1939 1940 1941 1942 1943 1944 1945 1946 1947 1948 1949 1950 1951 1952 1953 1954 1955 1956 1957 2011

    Total: 41 years

For the sake of completion year with chocolate socks: 1886

So claret socks have been the most used throughout the history of the club with black socks in second place. The original Claret and Blue kits also featured claret socks although prior to the adoption of those club colours black had been used.

The most successful sock is claret with 6 league wins. Our only other title came in blue along with the European cup.

We last won the FA Cup in black socks 1957. The 6 other wins came in claret socks.

We won two League Cups in claret sock seasons, two in blue seasons and one in a white sock season.

There, all you need to know about Villa socks.

  4. I popped into the club shop today to buy me a support stan t shirt. The sales assistant said the new home kit should be revealed soon as it is going on sale from the 16th June. She also said there will be over 120 villa macron products available to buy which is more than double what Nike provided. She said we are going to be macrons flagship team and all products will only be available via the clubshop. She seemed to think that macron will treat us a lot better than Nike did. Im going to reserve judgement until I have seen the quality of the products but I think the deal and the way we will be treated by macron sounds promising

I can assure you this is incorrect, the distribution of kits is being handled exclusively by the Aston Villa Wholesale Department as opposed to Macron themselves. The products will be available from whomever they can get to stock them. I imagine this is due to the nightmare we had where Nike after a season or two of lousy sales decided not to distribute the kits outside of the UK and Ireland. US retailers were unable to stock the kits as Nike wouldn't deal with them and Villa couldn't distribute the kits themselves.

From what I've seen the wholesale dept seem to be intent on getting Villa merchandise into as many shops as will take it. Not an easy task considering how few people there will be interested in buying it but the intent is there.

  5. Randy Lerner, I hold you fully accountable.

We told you, you word removed, that McLeish wasn't up to the job before you hired him.

We told you, you word removed, that McLeish wasn't up to the job after you hired him.

We told you, you word removed, that McLeish wasn't up to the job after a few miserable games.

We told you, you word removed, that McLeish wasn't up to the job after a lot of miserable games.

We told you, you word removed, that McLeish wasn't up to the job when it looked like he was going to relegate us.

Now we tell you, you word removed, that McLeish isn't up to the job when it looks certain he is going to relegate us.

Lerner you miserable fecking failure, your wife took half your worth cause you are a failure of a husband. The market took half your remaining worth cause you are a failure of an investor and Villa will take the remainder of your worth down with them cause you are a fecking failure of a business man.

  6. Should get a free pass for the time being without all this criticism, ffs he's playing in the most static and negative Villa team we've ever seen. Half our players are walking around the pitch utterly disillusioned. He had a brutal first half yesterday but so did most of the team. Still he did manage to creat 1 of the 2 chances we had in the match with a truly fantastic pass through to Gabby. If there was more motion in front of him and we weren't on the back foot the whole time then maybe he could have been more effective.

Now is not the time to start knocking and writing off our youth, they have **** all chance to shine under that clueless Ginger clearing in the woods.

  7. BOF can identical twins have different sexual orientations?

So supposedly sexual orientation isn't determined by environmental factors and comes about biologically if that's the case then shouldn't it be impossible to have a pair of identical twins where one is straight and the other is gay?

Ignore bisexuality for this one Rob.

  8. Needed some considerable cheering up this morning, a brutal hangover coupled with the tragic news about Stan and his illness put me in a major downer.

Suddenly a gift from out of nowhere. A work issue is escalated to me and I'm sent a whole load of correspondence related to the issue much of which had been previously handled by somebody elsewhere in the organization most likely in the far East who was gifted with the name Kok Wang!

I was very much cheered up seeing how clients were being assured that "Kok Wang is looking at your issue", how "Kok Wang currently has a lot on their plate". Some other crackers:

"Thanks for that Kok, it's really appreciated!"

    "Kok Wang has an problem!"

"Anyone know where i can find Kok?"

I believe I need to have this guy relocated to my office for an instant morale boost.

  9. The Union don't appear to be doing anything special about a Villa section at the moment (or it could just be that the press release is oriented to the locals):

    Philadelphia Union"]

Philadelphia Union today announced the team will host Barclays English Premier League club Aston Villa on Wednesday, July 18 at 7:30 p.m. EST at PPL Park. The match, featuring U.S. internationals Brad Guzan and Eric Lichaj and English internationals Emilie Heskey and Darren Bent (all players listed are subject to change depending on availability), is included in the Union full season ticket package at no additional cost. One of the oldest and most successful clubs in England, Aston Villa has won the FA Cup and First Division Championship seven times.

“It’s our ongoing commitment to bring world-class international competition to Philadelphia,” said Philadelphia Union CEO & Operating Partner Nick Sakiewicz. “We are very proud to host Aston Villa in what will be a challenge for our club and a treat for our fans. We’re also thrilled that this match will be a wonderful precursor to the 2012 MLS All-Star Game and its surrounding festivities. This will certainly be an amazing week for not only our fans and PPL Park but also for cities of Chester and Philadelphia.”

Forward Danny Mwanga spent 10 days training with Aston Villa at the end of January prior to joining Union preseason in Florida in early February.

Card-carrying season ticket holders will have the game loaded on their season ticket card and those with printed tickets will have tickets for this match mailed to them by mid-June. Season ticket holders who purchased pre-paid parking for the season will be able to use the BONUS GAME pass from their parking booklet for this match.

Individual tickets ranging in price from $25 for Supporters tickets to $50 for Midfield tickets are on sale now. Groups of 15 or more will receive a $5 discount per ticket and also have the option of creating a group combo pack that allows them to pair the Aston Villa match with one regular season Union match for a $10 discounted ticket for both games.

From what I've been able to gather, the River End is the Union's supporters end, where seats are only sold to club members who have committed to stand and sing/chant for the entire match (under what penalty, I'm not sure).

Part of me wants the experience of being an away fan in a Philadelphia section, though...

We talked with the Union today, Villa had requested a block of 200 seats to be reserved but they weren't sure if these seats were earmarked for travelling support, corporate partners/sponsors or just Randy's mates, in any case it certainly isn't enough so they will be blocking off more seats at our request. Might be more details tomorrow but my advice would be to hold off on buying tickets as we will have plenty secured for Villa fans to be in the same section. If you insist on buying tickets you are better off grabbing the cheapo ones behind the goal for $25 so you can flog em back before the match should you decide to sit with the away support.

For Villa heads in the US we are providing updates and suchlike on the Facebook group.
