Interesting listening to JJ Watt on the overlap that the thing that surprised him most about football vs NFL was the agents fees and it's like the wild wild West vs NFL.

Agents had a big anti competitive legal win in the summer led by the same legal team taking on FFP, technically they shouldn't be capped but they are definitely feeding off the huge amounts of money available in the PL and holding so much power on where a player moves.

Money has ruined football, and agents are a by-product of that. The horse has bolted.

The NFL, as surprises many, is one one of fairest most egalitarian financial systems in world sport. I've long thought we could take a massive leaf out of the NFL book when it comes to our game.
Not only with youth drafting but financial caps. Very difficult to do though.

What we should do as a priority is get rid of agents. They're just a load of shyster parasites making money for nothing. Players should get FA appointed advisors or have an advisory body handing player's affairs.

Can Ferdi cover the CM position should Luiz and/or Kamara be unavailable?

It looks like he can cover everything from left back to striker to chief scout to sports nutritionist to Chief Rabbi.

  3. Frimpong (he's deffo signing now he wore our shirt) and Kosta will lock down the right back spot for the next decade. Flog Cash.
Ferdi whatshisface and whoever is left from Digne / Moreno can lock down left back. Ferdi can also cover every other position twice over.
Then we need cover for Kamara. Absolutely no idea who but an absolute unit who is technically good.

    erm... yeah that will do.

  4. Some players just seem to come alive or play at another level with better players around them. Its a real art identifying those players.
Often they're the "wonderkids" who get snaffled up by big clubs, hit a rough patch and end up at a lower level, but the talent and potential is still there.

I think Rogers is such a player. I think there's more like him around and finding them can save us a lot of money.

    WAAAAAAAAAAY better than JG

     Chiesa truly is world class

Villa JG was world class. Man City have ruined him by making him play differently. It was all so predictable but he has a bunch of medals so...

I didn’t say it was a “club statement” in the way that you’re implying. I’m saying it was A statement (as in a grammatical statement) officially released by the club. Which it is.

I have no problem whatsoever with people considering a move. I’ve never said I have. I think it’s bit weird, but I don’t have a problem with it.

This whole discussion started with YOU asking ME “who said we are not moving?”

I thought you had some new info. Lets draw a line under it now.

In fairness, they are written and published by the club.

I know, but they're not a club statement. That's a different category all together. Even then, things can change.

Honestly this thread is mental 😂😂

I feel like the mad conspiracy guy trying to convince everyone of some weird far out theory.

When in fact it’s the most logical scenario and something that is backed up by a statement from the club.

To be honest, you're not really saying anything much. You're just quoting minutes from a meeting we've all read, and claiming its a club statement, which it isn't. And you seem to be upset by anybody considering even the slight possibility that we move stadium. You don't think we'll move and you think the club have stated this. We get it.

Ok. You say you know about them but you didn’t seem to know about them the last time I replied to you when you said they were just second hand comments.

Jesus Christ. I did know about them. I wasnt referring to them when I said second hand comments but rather the local media reporting.

Seeing as people seem to have forgotten this happened, and I’ve posted it before, here is what the club said.

These are from the official notes from the FAB on 20th December 2023 which the club has published on its website here

No offence but this back and forth is getting a bit boring, now, so I'll try and sum up where I am. I know about these FAB comments, as does everybody in the Villa world by now, I'm sure. You can take them as a cast iron guarantee we will not be moving. I don't. Not because I think the club have been misleading or deliberately lying, but because it may become apparent that expanding the stadium as initially planned is no longer viable for several reasons. I also get the feeling the situation is fluid and changeable.

What was in reply to social media comments in December may be out of date now too. Nor what was that a club statement, but the minutes of a meeting.

I say again, I don't expect that its more likely that we'll move. Quite the opposite. I just think we'll have to expand the land we own around VP to get where we want to be and possibly build a stadium next to VP to minimise disruption. Does that scenario mean we're moving or not? I'd say its a matter of opinion / perspective.

  11. I have too. And I didn't take them as cast iron guarantees, just that there were no plans to move. Like I say, the situation can change. They already have to some degree. I also agree a redevelopment of the area (dependent on expanding the land) is the most likely outcome. We're roleplaying a situation than may or not become a necessity.

Edit: Sorry, this was a response to Outbyeaster than didnt include his post for some reason. Long day maybe.
