It's obvious to me that Luiz is staying because Gerrard is off

Secondly, regardless of where we are league wise, we need to stand up and assert that when players aren’t for sale, they aren’t. Arsenal trying to lowball us is pathetic.

No way the club has told Luiz that SG is off. If so, the club statement would be out last night or this morning. Luiz may think SG is off, but that is another matter.

What good would £25m be if we're bottom at Christmas?

What does it matter to keep him, not take the 25 or whatever as long as the manager clearly does not fancy him and will not play him? I do not understand - if he wanted to go and SG does not want to play him as a regular, why insist on keeping him.

  3. it is almost like this window just blew Villa completely off balance and that they did not expect what actually happened. We keep buying players in the 20-ish mill tier. Players this window have gone regularly for 40, 50, 60 and beyond. The spending from most other PL clubs seem to have just baffled Villa and we are not in any way competing. No way. We can't even sell players we do not want. Based on Sky Sports figures: Brighton are ca 95 mill in plus and looks better. ManCity is 50 mill i plus and IS better. Chelsea have spent ca 220 net, ManUnited ca 200 net. Bloody West Ham spent ca 150 net and Arabia Castle ca 120 net. Nottingham have too many ins and out for me to bother doing the maths but it is a substantial net spend. Villa? We have ca 20 net in spending. 20 million. Questions must soon be asked of the owners I am afraid, they cannot keep telling a tale of European ambitions and keep being totally outspent. Its not all about the money, I know, but seriously, we are on a different level unfortunately.

  4. start of his reign: "we need to install a no excuse culture at the club". today's presser: "We’ll do our best, people are working hard in the background to support me in those areas. It was a blow to lose Diego Carlos as he was out major statement signing – having him missing has certainly been felt."

Quite a big fee for a guy that bagged 6 goals last season, that’s not to say he’s shit or anything he’s obviously got big potential still.

Yes, he's got potential but 60 million is, again, just insane. He really is not that good. This window has completely fu**ed valuations. One year ago 100 mill for JG was a record and considered crazy, now 50 and 60 mill is  commonplace for whatevertalent.

One person has mentioned Ellis in three pages

One person has mentioned Steve Hodge in three pages

No one has mentioned Alex McLeish, No One had mentioned Steve Bruce, No one has mentioned Roberto De Mateo No one has mentioned Billy McNeill

    Call yourself Villa fans

Seriously? We are talking despicable personalities here or what? Ellis: Sure, divided opinions, clearly a "look-at-me-person" but lots of people tell stories of how kind of a man he was. Maybe shit Villa owner but good guy otherwise? Hodge - sure, understand. McLeish? I met him when managing Rangers after an Old Firm coming back to Ibrox - seriously nice guy. Again, shit Villa manager for sure and completely wrong at the time (or, any time to be frank), but absolutely no word removed. Bruce is to me in the same bracket as McLeish - should never have been Villa manager, but word removed?? Come on....

  8. Oooouufff, there is just so many, isn't it? If we are talking proper clearing in the woods as to personality (as they came across, admittedly noone on here know many previous managers and players in person):

Delph is the king of this topic; the way he left is something which still leaves me wondering "WTF?".

Gabby is the prince in this story; club captain giving absolutely wanks  when, supposedly, HIS club needed him the most. Apologies, I cam never forgive  him.

Tony Xia - obvious crook and willing  strawman for a money laundering exercise which was quite astonishing.

Sorry; Grealish can F right off and he does come across as a complete bellend.

O'Leary; had no ambition for this club and seemed to hate us while he managed us.

M Richards; now spouting  off and blaming everyone else for his total shambles of a Villa "carreer".

I'll leave it that. For now.

So I guess we will now see Man Utd retrospectively act on Fergie for his infamous years of the verball hairdryer treatment + kicking anything that comes into contact into players faces?

     Jeez apples and airplanes.

However for anybody that can be bothered to look back at the Dean Smith thread, you’ll see I called his appointment before anybody else.

Same source has told me Benrahma is done.

The exciting striker is Belotti of Torino - he’s in advanced talks but it could go down to deadline day.

Make of it what you will.

Belotti would be the biggest signing Villa has ever made IMO. That would be unbelievable, he is almost like Torino's Totti.

  11. It is shocking  and extremely worrying that Snith plays Hause. Not even close to being at the required level and if the manager cannot see that I really despair. And why he choses the negative line ups when he played more attacking when winning earlier, I cannot understand..worrying times indeed.

  12. Fact of the matter is that, up to 82 mins this was one of the worst performances at Villa Park for quite some time. No tempo (did you see the difference is time-per-touch - scary), no movement (it was crazy difference) and no effing urgency. It has been like this for a long period  now. I would love, absoluelty love (in the words of KK) for Dean to succeed, but he needs to do better. Bringing in Jedinak was a disaster (he surely must be done now). Anyway, here's to another season in the Chchip.  The good thing is that Dean has plenty of time to prepare.

Hourihane has been poor lately, Bjarnason isn't very good so there are issues in midfield too. Adomah and Bolasie have also been really shit too. Not feeling confident today

How the mood has changed, not directed at you. Not long ago we totally outplayed Derby and Boro away,  pissed on the shit and scored goals for fun. Every Villa fan believed in promotion and now it's just doom and gloom. The one difference is Grealish. I am starting to believe is he actually much better than what most think.

    Really?

Hause had without any doubt the worst debut I have ever seen by any player at any level against Wigan. He was so out of his depth is was truly embarrassing. Cannot see a week of training will fix all that but hope I am wrong.

  15. Have you all gone mad? Not to expect promotion? Not even expect play-off position? 3 years? League One? Really? Dean must be given time, I agree 100%. And yes, the squad is stupidly unbalanced. However, this squad contains more talent and quality than most squads in the history of the championship. In my view, not even reaching the play-off will be a major failure. And if someone thinks that our owners do not expect DS to get this right (As is challenging for promotion) THIS SEASON I think you will be surprised. Give him time and patience, yes. Not to expect challenging for and reaching promotion - getouttahere.
