I think Spurs have the better run of games tbh, but they’ll need to pick up at least three points extra than us (assuming they win their game in hand).

Here are the remaining fixtures: ours appear on the left of the list and the Spurs games in the right:

                        / Chelsea - A
    Luton - A    / Palace - H

    Spuds - H  / Villa - A

    West Spam - A / Fulham - A

    Wolves - H  / Luton - H

    Citeh - A  / Spam - A

    Brentford - H / Forest - H

    Arsenal - A / Toon - A

    Bournemouth - H    / Citeh - H

    Chelsea - H    / Arsenal - H

    Brighton - A   / Liverpool - A

    Liverpool - H   / Burnley - H

    Palace - A / sheff utd - A

Too close to call for me and there’s a long way to go.

They play alot of London clubs as well as 4 of the sky top 6.  None are easy

Rest him vs Luton, even vs Ajax if we have to, need him for spurs

Na.  We need him v Luton at their place.  Played very good football v utd, the parts I watched anyway

What do you mean? Owners can and do inject cash as new equity into clubs. Atarios for example have invested in V Sports that's new shares issued and new capital added to V Sports to spend on adding value to the Company.

Spurs don't have a sugar daddy and have to run like a self sustainable private company. They got low interest loans to fund their stadium. The additional income they generate from the new stadium pays down their loans over time

Man utd are 1.2 billion in debt and aren’t doing what spurs did.  The club was bought with the debt as were so many other clubs.  You’re assuming that every club who’s in debt like utd are doing a spurs

It's a fallacy that being in debt is always bad. Look at Spurs and the debt they took on at low interest rates to fund their new stadium. They now generate massive revenue from it and it's been a massive massive success for the club.

Using Debt that helps generate future revenue is good.

So whats the difference in that and an owner using funds to generate revenue? Appart from the club not being in crazy debt if he/she leaves

    Good question.

Using all the same averages I've been using this season for the chart on our progress against Man Utd, we get the below:

    image.thumb.png.cfe65fbf3aa4a4efea820700e4f73826.png

Man Utd are averaging 1.76 PPG which, across an entire season, would see them finish with 67 points (actually 66.8 points) and would generally be enough for a 5th/6th placed finish. For context, 66 points was enough for 5th place in 50% of the last 14 seasons.

Interestingly, using the results from last season's corresponding fixtures against their remaining fixtures this season would see them land on 66 points which is pretty damn close to their projection. For them to reach the required average points for 4th place, they'd need to earn another 27 points from their remaining games, a PPG average of 2.07. Here are their remaining fixtures where they earned a total of 22 points:

    Team Location Previous Season
    FUL  H W
    MNC A L
    EVE H W
    SHU H D
    BRE A L
    CHE A D
    LIV H W
    BOU A W
    NEW H D
    BUR H W
    CRY A D
    ARS H W
    BRI A L

Its a pitty they don’t play spurs

I think Lenglet has generally been good. Moreno has been much worse than digne defensively which makes our left side a lot more vulnerable than it was with Pau.

Lenglet can’t defend especially with his speed and high line.  Can pass 💯 all the time for all i care but thats not his first role

  7. I’m one of his biggest critics but today he was fine.  Rashford never got a sniff and he’s playing behind Bailey who doesn’t give much protection as Moreno would get on other side.

  8. Martinez is out for long time now for man utd.  He will be a massive loss, no way they are overtaking us without him.

i told the the young guy on way to school this morning and his eyes started to water up.  Realised I should have been more specific as he thought it was our keeper

People seem to still think this is the title race thread as every single game we don't win is a complete disaster. It really isn't.

As you say we could well make top 4 winning fewer than half our remaining games so posters need to remember that and not throw a strop if we lose to likes of Arsenal and Liverpool in the run in as those games might not matter too much.

I know this sounds simplistic, but every game we play and win is a game less the opponents have to catch up.  Take each game one at a time.

We do need to win as I'm still targeting 70 points for this season.

So getting to 46 points after an indifferent run feels psychologically better than failing to beat the bottom club for second time in six weeks and then wins do feel really hard to come by.

24 out of 45pts is surely achievable

I just think we will draw. Football doesn't always follow logic and we have poor form, a bad record at their place and a generally dodgy away record.

So I think it'll be a draw. Is that ok with you boss? Or must I agree with whatever you think?

I didn’t say you had to agree.  Was just curious why you thought it would be a draw.

I predicted us to get 2 points in January and we only managed 1.

I think we will draw the next 2 games which will then hopefully signal the end of our slump and we can go on a winning run to that 5th placed finish we desperately need.

What logic have you to say we won’t beat shef utd on Sat?  We battered them before Christmas and were shafted by VAR.
