Great time. I was fine until last four miles, and then just couldn’t find anything left. Really cocked up hydration and refuelling; Abingdon only had cups for most of the drink stations, which I find impossible to deal with unless you walk through.

I’m not sure if that was my issue or not, just the last 5 or so miles my legs just hurt, lactic acid i dunno or just not used to running that distance. I wasn’t out of breath or founding breathing hard, my legs were just killing. Literally felt that each mile took 30 mins, but looking at my times i was still going an okay pace to say they were killing.

  2. Recently completed the Yorkshire Marathon doing it in 3.19 which i was pleased with, aiming before 3.30 after last years Bristol hilly one i did in 3.44. The Yorkshire one was a lot harder, doing a quicker pace throughout defiantly made the last 6 miles horrible to be perfectly honest.

Week before that i did the Lincoln Half and got my PB for the Half marathon of 1.32.

Not sure what to do now, training for marathons takes 12 weeks running 3 times a week and after a while i get busy, so might just stick to halfs.

Of course they can make a profit. And they do very nicely in that respect.

But its difficult to see the consumer benefit to the removal of an essentially universal standard port, which is remarkably well designed and works exceptionally well, in favour of a proprietary port with extremely questionable benefits to the user whilst threatening the usage life of the product and reducing the concurrent functionality, whilst also lining the company's pockets via licensing fees.

It's nonsense for everything bar Apple's profit line. They saw the universal nature of headphones being money out the door, so they changed it to stop that and cooked up largely useless reasons to justify it.

    Yup.

    But evil?

    Come off it.

Well they've as expected done it.

You'd think they have enough money not to worry about forcing manufacturers to pay them to sell headphones, but obviously not. There's no benefit to binning the headphone jack beyond lining their pockets.

    Evil company.

    lolz.

Profit based company in trying to make money shocker, or should Apple just not try and make money, they are different to all other companies for some reason?

Watched Creed while waiting for a delayed flight yesterday.  Thought it was a really good addition to the Rocky family, and I look forward to Creed 2 next year.

    Very well directed that film.

    That Dark Knight analysis..

It's 20mins but it's more or less frame by frame of the chase picking out where Nolan made really amateurish mistakes. It's easy for your brain gloss over them but the moment you start to notice them the scene falls apart. Dent's position and the SWAT van into the river I always had problems with, but the rest is a mess as well.

The arguments been made that Nolan doesn't know how to shoot action and tris to hide that with editing, using that scene as the archetype, and i think it might be right. I'm watching Rises as we speak and the first Bane fight is curiously rubbish, again something I've felt since it's release. There's no weight to anything, made worse by really rubbish sound effects of the blows landing, and it's shot oddly, it feels anticlimactic when it should be the moment of the movie. Even the breaking of the Bat is shite. It's obviously a choreographed minor stunt with a stuntman on a wire, when it should be a furious brutal move, a powerful capable man being snapped by a monster in essence. It shouldn't be that hard to do.

This is another reason why Fury Road is a masterpiece and will be studied for years.

First episode of Billions was decent if unspectacular.

Decent writing but highly unlikeable characters.

I'll give it another couple of episodes though as I love Giamatti.

The characters are never likeable throughout.

Maggie Siff is amazing in it though both her and Damion Lewis really are stunning towards the end of the series after getting used to their characters.

Just to give an idea of the dressing room RDM is inheriting, the players were asked to make a contribution to help reduce the number of staff redundancies (60 at BMH alone) and they refused. They ^&%*(*& refused, the spineless good for nothing bunch of pampered millionaires refused to put their hands in their deep deep pockets and help keep the people around them in jobs, jobs they were losing in no small part due to their inability to do their jobs. Appalling.

    Every single player refused?

I doubt that very much, we have a hell of a lot of C words, but not one even made a ‘small’ contribution? Sounds like nonsense to me.

    Watched the first one.

    Meh.

I quite liked the setting. I don't know anything about Captain America so had no idea it was set in WW2, mostly. That was interesting.
The film was ok. I found his little rag tag bunch of merry men a bit cringeworthy to be honest and wasn't a big fan of Weaving's character as a bad guy. But it was alright I suppose. I've seen much worse comic book films than that.

I probably wouldn't be rushing to see the next one, but seeing as you guys insist I'll probably give it a watch tonight.

    Very different second, solid film.

I'll watch the first one and see what it's like.

Err the first Cap is completely different to the second one in tone and most other things, its almost entirely opposite apart from having the Captain America character in it, so don’t use that as a basis whether to see the second one or not.

The Winter Solider is an excellent with a  70’s conspiracy type vibe to it, its also go Redford in it so be default is better.

Wow - no new manager until the new owners are in place is ballsy. They must expect this to be done and dusted in the next couple of weeks.

Moyes just waiting for for the deal to go through hopefully!

    Why ballsy?

We’re relegated, nothing worse can happen until the season starts.
