  1. is it just me being pessimistic that we have agreed a fee after agreein to sell downing thinking we need to sell to buy?

    no

If you have nothing better to add Richard, do you really have to comment?

Christ on a bike, some Villa fans really do astound me as to how negative and pessimistic they can be.

  2. Made it to the Balti Triangle anyway.... Had dinner in Al Fraisals in the end... Excellent food and so cheap. The surrounding area was pretty dodgy though. We were walking out to the main road to grab a taxi and some small car pulled up with a few shady looking lads and asked us if we wanted some pot.... The lads were off their heads driving away, swerving all over the road....

All in all a good experience though! :D

I'm finally going to the Balti Triangle tonight with some friends. I think we'll just all get in a taxi, shouldn't be more than 10 pounds.

Al Fraisals is good then? How exactly does it work? You choose a restaurant and have a sit down kinda meal or you just walk up and buy something and walk around??? Never been before. If it's sit down, lots of places aren't licensed...so is there a liquor store there or should we just buy our booze before we head out? Thanks guys!!

Oh, don't know who mentioned Asha's on Newhall st., but it's excellent. Also try JoJoLapa which is Nepalese, excellent!!! Jojolapa is just further down Newhall St, on the right hand side in a cool white building.

Yep, I had an excellent meal with the girlfriend. Cheap as chips and very very tasty. Also, there is an offie beside the restaurant so grabbed a few cans in there before we went in... She had wine which they corked for her free of charge... I would recommend it to anybody going that way anyway!

  3. They won't get to the group stages of the Europa unless they get a really cushy draw. They can't get results away from home, and if they get a tricky fixture with a long flight to Ukraine or something then they will get battered.

Considering they will almost certainly lose the likes of Foster, Dann, Johnson and Ferguson, they are not going to have a team who can compete in Europa. If they do get through and reach the group stages, then they'll probably be up for relegation again. Remember they couldn't deal with a Carling Cup run and still stay in the league, so very little chance of dealing with a competition which gives you midweek fixtures, lots of travelling, potentially hostile or cold conditions and then expects you back for your weekend game.

I'm delighted they got into the Europa.

They'll probably go by bus to Russia as well!!! :D

  4. SHA Travel to Cork for pre season:

Birmingham travel to Cork for pre-season

    Friday, 10 June 2011 13:49

Birminghan City will play Cork City in a pre-season friendly at Turner's Cross on 16 July.

The 2011 Carling Cup champions will play the match as part of their five-day pre-season training camp at the Fota Island Resort.

Birmingham manager Alec McLeish said: 'This will be an important part of our preparations and the facilities at our disposal will be top class. Cork City is a club, like our own, with a long and proud tradition and I know that its young squad is highly regarded.

'It will be a good test for us as we get our preparations for the forthcoming season underway in earnest.'

Following the club's historic Wembley triumph over Arsenal it suffered the disappointment of relegation in heartbreaking circumstances over the closing 10 minutes of the season but is widely tipped to achieve immediate promotion back to the FA Premier League.

The Blues, who will also enjoy the high of European competition next season, will be captained by Irish international Stephen Carr who has had his contract extended for a further season at St. Andrews.

Dubliner Keith Fahey and Cork native Colin Doyle will also feature in a squad that will be among the strongest in the English Championship.

Cork City manager Tommy Dunne said: 'We're delighted to get a game of this quality mid way through what is a vital season for the club.

'You don't win the Carling Cup - especially beating Arsenal in the final - unless you have an exceptional squad of players and no one in football expects Birmingham to be out of the Premier League for more than next season. This is a great opportunity for our young squad to test themselves and for our fans to see a top quality team play at Turner's Cross.'

Tickets are priced at €17 for adults and €8 for concession tickets, and will be on sale to Cork City supporters at Turner's Cross Stadium this evening, as City take on Athlone Town in the Airtricity League First Division.

    here

Long and Proud tradition my hole. That's an insult to Cork City!!!
