Mad how Watkins has no votes. I was torn between him and Bailey, but I just think Leon would handle the pressure better.

Not that mad......he usually misses from 7 or 8 yards out. Why would you trust him from 12 ?...

So looking at Dembele's stats in his "good" season.

He did score 21 goals but he was also supplied with 40+ chances finishing most from inside the box.

Do people really think he's going to come here and get that level of service also in a higher standard of league?

I think he will struggle to hit double figures.

He should fit in well then.....

Wouldn’t bother me one bit if we didn’t ‘replace’ Ings until the summer. Watkins has a really good injury record (he’s fit for tomorrow) and Ings only really plays when he’s not fit. He was a decent enough option but he was always playing second fiddle.

It would bother me.....the myth of Ings fitness against Watkins scoring record troubles me.  We have no 'fox in the box'....relying on willing runners and pressers up front whilst hoping for a few seconds of brilliance from the wing or midfield will win you nothing. Proven time and again unfortunately.....

It would have taken you less time to google that it wasn’t than it did to write that post.

Not exactly - he was referring to a player going to Chelsea potentially freeing up another player. Apologies for not having the encyclopedic knowledge of a young kid with the same name who's only played about ten senior games (I googled that) 🤓

With Chelsea buying Madueke can we please go and get Bakayoko for the winger position before any of the big boys realise he’s the better player

    If its the Chelsea Bakayoko you're on about (Timoue ?), there are only 2 things wrong with your suggestion ;

    1. He's not a winger.

    2. He's dogshit - Chelsea are happy to pay him off to get rid.....

This is the view I have. Nobody lined up is baffling.

I'm with you guys. If we're that desperate for £12-15m to raise funds for incomings I'd be worried (wages discounted because we have to pay soneone to play anyway). £15m is roughly the difference in PL merit payments from 8th place to 14th or 15th which is where we'll likely end up if we're only reliant on Watkins as our main strike threat. Unless we have someone lined up and we're not showing our cards, the Ings deal makes little sense to me.....

  7. I'd be very surprised if Ings is interested in  moving to any of the clubs that are supposedly in for him. He might get a longer deal than his current one, but theres every chance that his 'new' manager will be gone by the end of the month.....and then there's the inevitable wage reduction clause in the event of relegation. I'd be sorely tempted to stick rather than twist and back myself to force my way into the managers plans (not that I think he's out of Emerys plans).....why would he risk it ?

    Yes

Saw both of those sides and they were great but I still believe the best footballing Villa team I've seen is BFR's team with Parker, Rico, Houghton, Saunders, Dalian etc etc. How we didn't win that first Premier League is still a mystery to me, we were easily the best footballing team in the country....

Ollie will be loved by Emery. His workrate, pressing, speed and versatility make him an ideal squad option. The only way Ollie leaves is if he isn't getting enough games and wants to leave.

Emery is not playing 2 conventional strikers. He is playing them as wide strikers. When the play is on the left, the left striker operates as an advanced winger, and the right striker comes into the middle and vice versa. I don’t believe Ings has the mobility to be effective in this role, and at his age his suitabilitywill only get worse. So I see Ings as the most expendable. Watkins on the other hand is made for this role and can play it as either left or right striker.

If we can get say Thuram to play the left striker, Bailey as the right striker, and hav Ollie as the rotation option, or if we change to a 3.

Ollie is a willing lad but continued reliance on players of such limited ability is more likely to leave you in the bottom half of the table rather than the top. He just isn't very good.

I think people are being harsh. There was a ten minute period tonight where he wasn’t absolutely dogshit. So there’s that.

I think you'll find it was fifteen minutes actually. It's called 'half time'....

  11. How hard can it be ? A lion motif with 'Aston Villa' incorporated in the crest.

I've got a bad feeling this is all going to go the way of our local public transport providers who tossed off about a million quid to some PR geniuses to change the name from 'West Midlands Travel' to 'Travel West Midlands'......

Do our physios and fitness coaches need to be questioned, now that we've had two major early season injury crises two seasons running?

No. It's elite sport. Shiite happens....

This kid is a massive talent. Seen him destory Manchester United the other week. Reminds me of a young Tom "Pongo" Waring

I'd have thought a 'young Joe Bradford' more your thing ?

He’s just not very good at the only thing he’s meant to be better than Targett at. Frankly Targett is a better player, younger and cheaper to have around as well. I just wish he hadn’t been a flannel.

Cobblers. Targett was weak in the tackle and even weaker in temperament......Aramco FC are welcome to him.

Because our leadership fears interesting and exciting?

No mainly because our leadership is not on a suicide mission. Get a grip folks, if we'd appointed this guy last year we'd have gone into meltdown on here.....
