Made of glass and not strong enough for the rigours of the Premiership.

....I know, but enough about Calvert-Lewin......what do you think of Sanson ?

I would love to know who put Diaby to sleep for the last 4 months.

I have to take responsibility for today's performance. I put 20 notes on him having 4 or more goal attempts in the match.

    Truly bocked the poor bloke.

Don't think I would've won if I'd backed him to have 4 or more touches instead.....

  3. One of our better players this season for sure, until injury.

I wish people would get over this obsession with his wages.....although I know a lot of it's in jest.

People much cleverer than us are being paid to decide how much players should be paid.

I couldn't give a toss if he's on 12 quid a week or 120k....its not my money. As long as he's playing and doing well for the team, his payslip is no concern of mine.

The rumour that we're binning him off for a player who's over a year older (and more injury prone apparently) to save a few bob doesn't sit right with me though.

First he cancels north stand then that tight arse Heck sacks off Hercules to save a grand on a new costume!

His plan is for a new mascot to replace him.....

Sad to read on the Beeb that we'll be swapping him for ESR in January. :crylaugh:

Only way this deal goes through is if they mean Elneny, Saka and Rice......

  6. If you think we're a fickle bunch, try a few minutes on the Gooners World forum.....

The 'Arteta Out' thread is currently running at about 315 pages lol.....

With respect this shows an absolute lack of appreciation of how Unai has approached Europe throughout his career.

With respect, Unai has never had to manage in the ECL before, with the a carrot of a Europa League place (as well as a bit of silverware) but also managing this clubs best ever chance of qualifying for the champions league......we've all heard him say how much he respects the competition and I believe him, but at the sharp end of the season he may prioritise one over the other if resources start getting tight on the player front.....

Thats not an absolute lack of appreciation.....thats reality.

Everything in Emery's managerial history would suggest he'll take the opportunity to win a European trophy very seriously

I quite agree.....and it would be so Villa-ish to go into an ECL final, having finished in 5th in the League, and needing us to win the trophy to tip the UEFA co-efficient in our favour to secure a chapions league spot for 5th place......

Ajax are pony, wouldn’t worry me at all

Ajax and Frankfurt are miles above what we faced tonight.

If we're still in the raffle for a Champs League place come March, doubt if Unai will use this as other than opportunity to give minutes to fringe players.

What would be the point ?

It's a bit of a stupid question, as only the most shortsighted fan would take a cup over CL qualification. West Ham winning the Conference hasn't made much difference to their finances and hasn't helped them attract world class players. CL qualification allows that and gives more headroom for FFP.

I'll stay short sighted then and hope for the FA Cup........fortunately I'm a football supporter rather than an accountant, so turning down trophies on the vague premise that coming 4th or 5th in the table keeps the number crunchers happy doesnt appeal to me.

  11. I get the fact that he's raw, athletic and there's a lot of potential there, but at the moment for the PL, he's  no more than an impact sub. I'm sure he'll develop into a fine player but in the here and now, if anything happens to Watkins we'd be in a spot of bother. A decent back-up is sorely needed - I know they don't grow on trees but thats the job of Monchi and his team.....I'm sure its something they recognise and are already working on.

I suspect if he was willing to be our back up keeper on sensible wages he would not still be a free agent.

    I understand your logic....

But I don't see anyone banging his door down ? And according to an uncorroborated article in Spain there was talk of him going to play for a Spanish 2nd tier club to maintain fitness.

  13. I see David de Gea is still looking for a club. Wonder if he fancies boarding the Emery Express on an interim deal, maybe playing all the Cup games......be a definite upgrade on Olsen, plus a chance to get himself back in the shop window ?

Ended the first half laughingat his shithousery in re-placing the ball after the ref told him to hurry up :D

Disgraceful performance from Martinez in the second half 😂

I was convinced he was going to pick up a yellow for timewasting shithousery in the second half so wasted some of my hard-earned on the 3/1 that Bet365 were offering.

Then he decides to play the second half like prime McGrath, chipping the ball out, instead of rolling around like a good boy !

I want my money back 😢
