  1. Yep, thats the list I would have been woking through. I dount any of them were even considered though
  2. Just can't get my ahead around it, yes he has lots of potential but he is still learning, would have thought if they were going for an up and coming manager they would look to Coyle. Lets face it, just after christmas a good portion of our own fanbase wanted Whelan to fire him, he only turned it around in the last 10 games or so. Admittedly I was never one of the Martinez out brigade but that was somewhat due to his connection to the club. Really hope he doesn't leave because we finally looked settled. To be honest I think Martinez would be making a huge mistake going to Villa as he his still young and inexperienced meaning that he is likely to make mistakes, I don't think the villa fans would be as patient with him as we were. If he fails he would be unlikely to get another prem job. I just get the feeling that there is more to this than meets the eye. Maybe that they are talking to Moyes or Coyle on the quiet, with Bobby being Lerner's plan B? I think this Wigan fan makes some valid points, especially about our fans being patient with him
  3. I actually think McClaren is a better coach than Martinez
  4. He was actually 15 mins away from relegation. Doubt they would of considered him either. Fickleness. Correct. One goal basically. I think we are making a mistake
  5. Exactly - it's CL football and outrageous wages that attract the top players. Anyone think Van Der Vaart went to Spurs because of Harry Redknapp? Well its not outrageous wages with van der Vaart as spurs have a wage cap
  6. I would say Di Matteo and Martinez are very similar
  7. ill give him my full backing too, however the problem is he is not a big enough name to attract high profile players to take us to the next level or to talk the likes of Downing etc into staying. Its a massive negative that outweights all his positives. Its not ambitious in the slightest. I couldnt agree more. When Houllier came in and said we are a mid table club 7th - 12th that annoyed more because I thought our ambitions were higher. I can now safely say that mid table and dont get relegated seems to be the new plan
  8. I agree completely. Moyes or Martinez. The other realistic options don't excite me. These two do, in different ways. Moyes for his work at Everton and the fact that he is an established Prem manager, has good transfer experience with little money & always gets his team playing 100% for the cause, much like MON did. Martinez because I think we're a big enough club that he could be with us for years and years and could build a good team, if given time by the fans. He likes to play a passing game and if he has bigger funds available for better defenders, could start a new revolution at Villa. Players from previous clubs? Moyes - Baines & Jagielka Martinez - N'Zogbia &... McCarthy? Rodallega? You forgot Figueroa from Wigan and maybe their keeper Christ we are turning into Wigan lol
  9. Seems like he gets on very well with Whelan though and may show him some loyalty. Wouldnt suprise me if he did because he seems like a nice bloke himself. This could drag out some more........
  10. I think it looks like Martinez after hearing that from Whelan
  11. what nice comments about our club from Dave Whelan
  12. I completly disagree with all of that, its all speculating anyway but I think he would have done well after a full summer in charge.
  13. They are both sports teams with the same owner. Therefore it's legitimate for Villa fans to examine Randy's stewardship of the Browns for clues about how he runs things. It's not a direct comparison, but it's relevant. He isnt very popular with Browns fans is he??? Im afraid my knowledge of American football is limited lol
  14. I think the Houllier appointment was the right one, I can understand where they were going with that and what they were trying to achieve. You are right though, I think Lerner needs to be very careful this time round
  15. Where would the other £40m have come from though? from RL, its been 2years since he spent properly on transfers. Bent, Ireland, Makoun didnt cost much more than Milner and Gardner. Its our last Summer to splurge before the requirement come into play. Its a huge Summer and one which will define our future direction under RL. Time will tell, If we were to end up with Martinez do you think he could bring Figueroa, N'Zogbia and Rodallega with him
  16. Agreed, its getting ridiculous now
  17. Henderson is a reported 20m...how about that...... True I cant keep up with football player prices these days. I would give £10m tops for Henderson, if that really
  18. Where would the other £40m have come from though? Downing £25m Cuellar £8m Warnock, Dunne ? £25m Downing, do you think we would get that?? I would imagine about £15-£18 tops
  19. Plus other sales...... In hindsight, i think its bollox. It probably has more to do with Benny wanting control of contracts, the very thing that caused MoN to up tools. Your probabaly right there, I wonder how many managers would be happy with not having control over players contracts though???
  20. Where would the other £40m have come from though?
  21. I have got a feeling that may be true. I think we will spend whatever we get in for selling players based on what? iirc the exact same things were being said in jan As I said its just a feeling I have. I would imagine if we genertate about £30m on the sales of young and downing then I think that is what we will have to spend. I may be wrong so dont quote me on this its just a feeling I have

  23. The TV is on at work but the sound is off. Are they on about a new manager or Ashley Young leaving??
  24. is mcClaren any worse than coyle or martinez though really? I dont think he is not that i want any of them personally I don't think McLaren would be all that bad as some make out. His time abroad will have made him a much wiser manager I'm sure. Martinez has probably shown enough to merit a bigger job, but still quite a bit of a risk. Coyle is Scottish, and while the Scots are generally shit at playing the game, they do seem to have the knack of managing teams. I really have no idea now who will be manager. Its the biggest cliffhanger since the whole who shot jr saga in dallas
