  1. Wagner really isn't the best example of someone that plays more attacking football. He's done an unbelievable job but even during their promotion season 22 out of their 25 wins were by a single goal and they were the second lowest scorers in the top half. They then scored once in 330 minutes during the play offs and had to rely on the lottery of winning successive penalty shoot outs.

There are definitely reasons to suggest Wagner as a candidate for our next manager, attacking, exciting football is not one of them.

Cracking player and season, but I am surprised people thought he contributed that well defensively on sat, i thought he gave up on chasing Adoma a few times. Didn't look like he fancied the chase. If it wasn't for Hutton he would have been very exposed in that. Still, that's not his main asset and overall he has been great.

He pulled out of a couple of challenges, with Hutton covering behind, after he'd been booked.

I think of all the players in the squad the notion of 'not fancying the chase' couldn't be further from the truth when it comes to Snodgrass, he runs himself into the ground every game. Imagine if he'd picked up a second yellow for tripping up Traore unnecessarily!

Grujic is a great signing for them. He holds the team together for them. No surprise they have turned it on since he came into the side.

Yet he was the one sacrificed at half time to make way for Gary Madine, who went on to set up the only goal.

  4. Surprised to see his thread so low down today. Terry has rightfully received a lot of praise for his performance yesterday but I thought Chester had just as good a game. Hopefully they can both stay fit

My first game was to Villa vs Newcastle, I was absolutely sure Gary Speed scored the only goal late on with a header but I can't find a game where that happened. So it must have been someone else. Around 1998-99 - they had a bald fullback who clattered someone early on and for the whole game the Villa fans started whistling / singing the Addams family theme tune (Fester Addams) as soon as the ball went anywhere near him. Was hilarious until we lost, then I probably cried.

I remember the chap who took me was a colleague of my mum, and I loved him so much for taking me to that game.

    Duncan Ferguson

  6. Such bad news, we've all seen how long it took Delph to resemble anything like the player we thought we'd signed after his knee injury. Hopefully the rehab will go well and he'll be raring to go next season, absolutely no positives to be taken from this. Awful, awful news and I feel so sorry for him

  7. How about a source?

My job means I am sometimes privy to information (not about transfers so don't think this is some attempt to prove myself as an ITK). I'm not saying any more than that, I'm sure the club will announce this terrible news soon

  8. With the 24rd pick in the 2012 VT Mock Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select...

    Dont'a Hightower

    Alabama

    ILB

As a Steelers fan I'm still hoping Poe will slide to us. With him off the board alongside the best value OL prospects, Colbert will stick to the BPA principles and take Hightower so that he can be groomed as James Farriors long term replacement.

  9. With the 20th pick in the 2012 VT Mock Draft, the Tennessee Titans select...

    Stephon Gilmore

    South Carolina

    Cornerback

Titans need to replace Cortland Finnegan, could have been GIlmore or Dre Kirkpatrick taken here. Gilmore's stock appears to keep rising throughout the draft process so gone for him here.

  10. I'm still hoping Poe will fall to the Steelers.

With the 16th pick in the 2012 VT Mock Draft, the New York Jets select...

    Melvin Ingram

    Illinois

    Defensive End

Jets really need to upgrade their pass rush and will be very happy Ingram is still on the board. I also toyed with a wide receiver here but any of those still available would probably be a bit of a reach at 16.

  11. With the 13th pick in the 2012 VT Mock Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select...

    Jonathon Martin

    Stanford

    Offensive Tackle

Offensive line is a big need for the Cardinals, now Reiff is off the board they will take the next best in Martin. Now they are having to go with Kolb or Skelton, protecting the QB becomes even more important.
