The clip is a good 'un though. Old Norm was apparently quite the boxer and a good footballer too. Some of the defending was a bit Villa-esque in that clip..

 

Yeah sorry about that, made more sense when i first wrote it in reply to someone elses comment about a short contract, but before i could post a reply Bickster close the forum so had to post here. Good old Norm would make a great team captain @LFC.

Whats with all these 3 year contracts?

 

1 year to settle in, 1 good year and suddenly we have no choice but to sell.

 

I understand he could just as easily be crap and thus save us a lot of money on a 5 or 6 year contract, but on what is likely 20k a week if not less we would barely be losing a thing on him. 

 

Same goes for Baker and Weimann

 Three year contract is the Norm these days. He plays well, we give him a better wage and extended contract he wants out we sell. No big deal.

PLEASE,PLEASE post any comments Benteke has ever said (Video wise) otherwise it's only Bull. I have never seen Benteke other than on AVTV do an interview with the media, what he does and says away from the UK is often misconstrued by the media.

Erm, the fact he thought Villa were based in London makes me think he's not very clever. He's also made some stupid comments regarding his future.

Big Question is "Who's in focus this week on OS" Well!  we have seen Baker,Guzan,Delph and Andi so far, personaly i think it will be Lowton or Westwood but if it's Benteke then i reckon he wil stay the extra season..........Keeping my fingers and legs crossed that it's not Hutton,Bent,Given,Fonz, Ireland,N,zog and Bannan and a few others that don't wear the shirt with pride or play to there true potential. So far we have given Baker and Andi extended contracts and a few more £ PW, lets hope and trust Lambert in whatever he decides.

Delph has a point to prove and be given a run at least 7/10 games, he came good towards the end off the season, prior that he has been injured or just lacked enthusiam. Give him till Jan to get his act together or find a club to send him out on loan to (Cardiff sounds like a good suitor) the lad just needs to control his aggression and making silly tackels from behind.

Really hope we keep Chris Herd. Great utility player who can effectively play or cover right back, centre back, holding defensive midfield or right side of midfield.

 

For me, Chris Herd is possibly the most under rated player currently in the Villa squad & will prove to be a really valuable asset.

The one question is his attitude (he was caught in a scuffle in a nightclub along with Collins) Lambert is not keen on aggression off the pitch.

I think £75k would secure him, after geting rid of Bent his salary alone would secure Benteke for at least one more season and if the lad does well again(anything from 15/20 goals) we could well see his asking price rise by at least another 20Million. £50Million for a £7Million pound investment well worth the gamble.

The interesting question is that are young english players shit because they don't get to play in the first teams or don't they get to play because they are so shit? I am surprised that neither Westwood or Baker didn't get picked up since they actually played a lot in PL this season, as I was looking through the england u21 squad I noticed that many of them played in championship during the season.

Pearce is just favouring the bigger clubs with a hope of getting a coaching roll there, we have by far the best academy in the UK and he choose to ignore this.......Good luck Pearce hear Wigan and Wolves are still looking.

Funny thing was two minutes before the commentator on ESPN said " Benteke, a mobile version of Heskey." Well i'm fairly sure Heskey would have missed as well, just how much wider remains in doubt.
