Benteke has a club to go to that will pay the asking price otherwise he would not put in a transfer request. Or he has a very stupid agent who is pushing his luck with Lambert and Villa. He's most likley to go to Spurs! but no way will Lambert take in a cast off to offload the fee (£25/30M , remember Milner and Ireland crap). I think the club will set a deadline to Benteke and if the deal is not done by that date he remains a Villa player, he then has a choice "play football or sit and beg" all we know is that the media are putting out all sorts off crap at the moment along with other high profile players (Ronaldo going to City for example).

what ever happens i will be glad either way when it's done and dusted.

Well it just seems to me that most people on here thought that Draxler was worth 30Million Euros and that made me laugh! If that's  the case we should do a straight swap for Draxler ( A 19 year old still developing in bone structure and mentaly, unproven in the PL for a 22 year old who saved our butts from the championship).

 

A 22 year old who was still developing in bone structure and mentality, unproven in the PL 12 months ago...

 

 Who ever taught you Biology at school should be ashamed, Benteke was nearly 21 and had by then fully developed and he proved that in the first year of PL football, he showed that he has great upper body strength,stamina and speed. When he came to Villa, ok! he was not yet a man "MENTALY " as quoted by Lambert when Benteke first indicated he wanted to move on (Or the media and his agent got together over a few beers and came up with a story).

Truth off it all we gave Benteke that chance and he proved Lambert and the scouting team right, but "IMO"  Is Draxler worth 30Million Euros? "No F***ing way" .

What really just annoyed me was i put a beer in the freezer and sat down on here for a while reading a few posts....now it's f***ing frozen.

That work still haven't told me my rota for this week and it's bloody Tuesday. I've had texts asking me if I can work tonight and tomorrow lunch. You need to give me notice. Annoying.

Being proven in the Premier League means absolutely nothing...as we well know. And Draxler is more than proven in the Bundesliga...

Agree! Benteke had a few bad games to start and people (including me were saying another Heskey on board) but that all turned around. Hope he does well and above all stays faithful.

 

The thing that will eventually kill the premier league as a competition completely is when, like in Spain, the top clubs negotiate their own tv deals rather than having a centralised revenue sharing contract. It is bound to happen eventually, there are just too many muppets who want to watch Man U every week and don't care about the rest of the league.

Going way off topic, but I'd honestly say it won't be long until a European league is in place. Th "big clubs" can then go and play each other other week, with us so called smaller clubs left behind to scrap for a poorer English league without all the glory supporters.

If he moves to a big club, will they have the same patience that Lambert did when he first signed for us?  He was a bit of a carthorse for the first couple of months, if he performs like that then he will get relegated to the bench.  I don't really understand the logic of this but hey, he's a footballer.  I guess at least he had the manners to give us a request so he won't get a pay off and we can hopefully get a deal done quickly, as well as line up possible replacements over the next couple of months.  I like the statement the club has put out and I hope we can get £30m.

Yeah he had a few shockers early on and we all thought "S**T" another Heskey on board,but he came through and scored some terrific goals and that back heel to Andi against Liverpool was just fantastic.

Just hope that Lambert is as bitter as most Villa fans at the moment! if that's the case he will not let him go, he has allready provened that he hates slackers and made Ireland,Bent,Given,Bannan and put a few others in their place, Heres hoping that if we don't get the £30M asking price he is made to play for Villa at least till the next window in January and up the price again if he does play and plays well.

For such a small nation, Belgium have an amazing national side. I seem to recall they had a very good side very early 80's too.

Really hope we can keep Benteke, got a feeling we could have a great season if he stays and is fully focused and on board with the Lambert project.

So I walked into this thread after a long day at work expecting to see some intelligent suggestions of players we could sign and maybe one or two links and twitter crap. All I have got so far is someone suggesting we loan Draxler or buy him for £7million and I have also seen El Shaarawy mentioned to. Has something happened that I should be made aware of?

We stole Benteke for £7.5M and yes! he is worth £20M plus, What Schalke have done is improved his pay and made him sign an extension on his contract till 2018 to stop the intrest from Bayern Munich. we did the same with Weimann,Baker and Lowton. The press said Villa would not sell Benteke for less than £40M (all went quite for a while then they said offers over £25M, Now he's back in the running to go to Spurs, Arsenal and any other team who plays football, It's all media crap throwing figures in the air and the one that lands face up is what the player is worth.)

No manager in their right minds would spend £20M plus on an 19 year old IMO!!!!

OK enough allready! If he goes anywhere this year it will be a loan move IMO.

Maybe so, but put it another way £20M for a 19 year old that would destroy him. IMO he is not worth any more than £7M purely because he is so young and never played in the PL. Maybe if FC Schalke loan him out for a season and he can step up to playing in the PL then he is worthy of the price tag but until then i very much doubt there will anyone willing to pay that sort of dosh.
