I'm one of those who thought he was never going to make it at Villa but glad to be proven wrong. However he did also admit he struggled with injuries in his time since joining...
Unai Emery has improved so many players who were struggling for direction, tactical awareness etc under Smith and then that fool Gerrard only made them worse.
Amazing that Bailey is keeping Diaby out now.

I hate Saka, get within five yards of him and he goes down squealing like something out of Deliverance
Yeah, his behaviour at Villa Park last season was awful...total spoilt baby.
I hope Emery gets the Villa players fired up for this one.

In the year Unai Emery has been at Villa he must be one of if not THE best managers in football.
The record is immense and Villa just dominated in every statistic the best team in World Football.

Villa's best start to a League season since 1980/81....
Just saying, beat Arse and we are in the mix for sure.

The News..
Marshall McLuhan (below) was correct when he presented his theory in 1964: "The medium is the message."

Sure, titles aren't awarded in December (obvious) yet it is about consistency.
At home and under current form Villa must have confidence against all teams.

I saw he was kissing the badge after his latest goal. Wasn't he a boyhood Everton fan? He hasn't even been there 12 months the pillock.
Probably kissing the ring of a Saudi prince too...

Didn't take long to find these quotes from Man City fans regarding hit performances last season
Jack and Ake have been our best players since they returned from World Cup
His ball retention, particularly under pressure, has been top class since he arrived and is so important.
Now the self belief is there , he knows he belongs in this team.
He has become integral to the way we operate and is without doubt one of our better players
Arguably been our best player since the World Cup
Think he has been excellent since world cup and is now 3rd name on team sheet after Erling and Kev for me
His hairstyle has also improved
a class player and his corners are magic
Easily one of our best players since new year
Changed the game on his own today. Him and Alvarez both delivering 10/10 performances.
Incredible today, and he’s influencing the game all over the pitch now.
That's why we paid 100m for Jack. Great player, phenomenal close control, contributes goals and assists in the big games.
Worth every f***ing penny.
£100m was too cheap. Sublime today and looks like he belongs. Top lad, top player.
That's as good a performance as we've seen from anyone all year. Class.
One of the first names on the sheet these days, another MOTM contender performance. Him and Haaland are forming a devastating understanding.
Jack is rapidly becoming my favourite player. Work rate is brilliant.
He's vital to our attack, defense and possession game.
Turned in to the biggest player on the biggest stage. Unbelievable
But he also knows what else he brings that nobody else does, complete control of the oppositions spaces from his movement, making the other players better.
My goodness, the job he's doing for this team now.
Really brilliant tonight and has been all season.
Phenomenal, again.People trying to deny he was anything other than vital for them last season just coming across as bitter
Not at all...
Simply put he isn't a Villa player anymore so it isn't a necessity to support, like him or subjectively plaud him at every turn like some...
What he did was Delph-like, he was labelled a snake but some defend Greal-hiss for similar actions and it is a hypocrisy.

Tbh thats true but for me seeing grealish score in front of the holte in a citeh top turns my stomach. So im glad that at least for another season wont happen
By the cut of their jib some VT posters would seem rather happy about Greal-hiss scoring against Villa.

Cash should come back in as rb. Carlos dropping out of the back 4. Kamara back in with Tielemans a more advanced role. The only question is Bailey or Diaby?
Agreed.
Diaby no question, I think it's why he was rested at the weekend...although I'm aware Emery denied it.

I give him some shit as well for his clangers, but yeah guess he's one of those you realise you miss when he's out.
We need a similar styled backup, even if it's just a destroyer type with a little passing ability to play a few games.
Can Iroegbunam do this?
Tim has the physique, so potentially yes he can.
Hopefully that is being worked on behind the scenes but he needs matches, difficult situation for him and Villa.

Martinez consistently saves the Villa, defence has been a bit iffy of late.
But yeah some saves from him again....

Unai Emery is selecting a team out of necessity, I can see the reasons for this. He has to trust his method and as he says: "creating an identity".
Emery often looks energetic on the touchline but he seemed almost agitated today, Villa looked to be playing well within themselves. Perhaps why we struggled a little to dominate the game.
Villa need to step up though for the next two games, at home and under the lights I'm hopeful they will.
-
Looks off the pace, lacks confidence.
And for a big strong guy falls over alot...
Hope he improves but again he's playing out of necessity I guess.

What a finish, absolutely wonderful goal.
The pass from Torres, great cross from Diaby and top class header.
Watkins obviously not fully fit but still a threat.

I voted Conference League but really there is an argument for any of the three options.
Hopefully we win the Conference League AND qualify for the Champions League; pretty sure unai Emery is targeting both.

I thought the little one-two he did before playing a pinpoint ball to Diaby which the keeper saved well was one of the best moments in the match. Love Catty Mash I do.
Yeah the one-off really was a great moment, completely opened Legia up on that right side...
I thought he played quite well to be fair.

I disagree, thought he showed skill and power when holding the ball up against their CB who was intent on fouling him.
His speed at tracking back and the sliding tackles were wonderful, got the crowd going too every time he did it.
Yes still raw but definitely a player there in Durán.

Olsen did well and was pretty decent with the ball at his feet.
Not even Dibu could have stopped their goal.

The most interesting thing about Jermaine Jenas is that people didn’t know which way to pronounce his surname when he first broke through hahahahhahaha! What a ledge!
Also rhymes with Penis which is something he always has to live with!

Seen some terrible abuse from their fans on social media particularly directed against Matty Cash.
Pretty certain the law should be looking into this; there are threats to his family, himself and comments attributed to the second world war and genocide of his family.
It's actually unbelievable some of things people are writing...

Always disliked them, actually hate them now...
PSG should really have won the game with all the chances.

Moreno and Ramsey for this one please.
I don't think we need to take that risk; by all means if the match is well won then bring them both on for thirty minutes at the end of the game.

Great move for all concerned, Villa family and hopefully Emery is here long-term.
How about a pre-season tournament with Real Unión, Vissel Kobe, ZED FC and Vitória Sport Clube?
Don't we have a good relationship with Bayer Leverkusen, possibly invite them too?

Europa Conference League is still a trophy within our grasp and one we should still target.
Winning titles is all about consistency, with Emery we are being more than consistent.
Hopefully one or two additions in January to push for a starting place in the first team will help, although I don't think Villa need much at all.
