  1. no its not a silly argument because you cant say that belgium or turkey are a worse team than north korea or NZ, so the quality of the teams involved in the euros wont be going down just because 2/3 placed teams in europa will qualify, since the 2/3 place teams in europa often is much better than any teams from asia or oseania.

  2. do you think any less of WC, it has teams like: NZ, north korea, honduras, algerie etc. im just happy that the tournament gets expanded and more matches to watch. it would like be teams like belgium, boznia herz, turkey, montenegro, norway, switzerland, scotland, serbia, etc. these teams arent too shabby at all.

  3. really hope it will be Domingos Paciência, since OGS is out of the picture. portugise managers seems to be the new thing. seems like he has done quite impresive in portugal, you could argue AVB stats in PL but i think its more got to do with some of the players in the squad thought he was underneath them rather than he being a bad manager. so for me either Domingos Paciência or AVB, but i really cant see AVB coming to villa park.

  4. I don;t want Lambert. A poor man's Martin O'Neill who will spend £9m ona 31 yr old Gran Holt.

OGS is the stand out candidate for me and I would rather we have him or Brendan Rodgers who has far more experience with workign with young players and plays proper football unlike the kick and rush tactics of MON's lovechild.

Plus he is a dour miserable bastard and I'd much rather we have someone who improves our public perception both on and off the field.

not one of those opinions make sense or is factually correct......

and what is some peoples obsession with Paul Lambert being MON....

its ridiculous and counter productive for their arguements...

coz its a **** positive if anything...

i feel sorry for the guy the amount of times hes been called a miserable bastard...

and im pretty sure the public perception of him is that hes done a fantastic job at Norwich and plays good football...

so far the reasons people dont want Lambert are:

    1. Hes a miserable bastard

    2. Hes like MON

    3. Plays direct football

    4. Will only buy British

    5. Could be the next Owen Coyle

    6. Hes a miserable bastard

Does anybody actually have any real negatives, intelligently thought out and that don't involve the fact he is not the exciting, exhilarating, respectful and hungry OGS?

i really think you are forgetting the singel most important reason: grant holt !!! also its not very uncommon for newly promoted teams to have moderatly succeces their first season in PL, and the next either be relegated or just scraping by. OGS seems to me and a lot others too be the kind of manager to come in and change the playingstyle, attitude and squad to be a more entertaing and probably success full side, while lambert will probably continue down the same track as we have been since MON with pragmatic and boring football and get the best out of a weak and predomantly british squad. that will win you a good bunch of games a season but will never take you further than a ok league position.

  5. im norwegian and saw the PC, first of all he was allowed to meet RL and PF, but when the news about the private jet broke the leaders in molde FC thought that it was to much publicity and that he should not go to birmingham. second thing is this was ABSOLUTLEY a big plea to villa come get me. if we want him we will have him, no doubt. ball is on our court now.

  6. Could there be some classic psychology at play here...

Rather like the limited offer principle. As in when there is a threat that a reasonably attractive offer might be withdrawn, even if it is not the initially preferred offer it becomes exponentially more attractive due the fear of missing out.

So, I think most people's initial reactions were to feel a bit surprised, not quite sure about the idea of OGS. I know those were my reactions. Then it might have grown on a few of us, but as soon as it seems that the possibility might be fading, the deal might be withdrawn... we're all desperate for him to come, convinced that THIS is the deal we need to make. No other option could possibly be as good. We mustn't miss out!

And of course, I feel the same. :)

What I'm wondering is... are the club doing this on purpose? :)

You raise an interesting point, Intercourse, (ha!). I think that video has a lot to do with the clamour, though. He comes across as impossible to dislike, dedicated and serious. Plus a lot of people who know a bit about him have posted on this thread singing his praises.

Yeah, I'm only kind of half-serious, half-tongue-in-cheek with this :)

I must admit, like many, the idea of OGS at the helm at VP was growing on me before the doubts over the deal emerged.

Only since then, other people have said things like "I want OGS even more than Pep!" And I find myself agreeing with them!

And course the club wouldn't do something like that to play the fans on purpose... or would they... :)

also 1 thing i think is important is that he personally seems very interested in the job, if its true that bigger clubs and even CL clubs have shown interest but he has sent them adrift. and then comes along villa who is now a bottom feeder in pl to be honest and suddenly he is in birmingham. and i think that he wants the job because he really feels this is the right job and move for him now and he know he can do a good job here. btw im norwegian and almost everyone sees røkke as the clown, and may i add i thing aker splitting with molde was in the cards longtime and OGS is a scapegoat saddly or maybe for us good

  7. He will see out the month like i said and be announced as Villa manager on the 1st of july (officialy) He would not leave Molde FK with 3 games left this month, Randy has gone back to his family because we have signed and will not return till OGS takes charge 1st July

i really dont hope this is the case, we got too get the new manager in fast so we can take advanteges of all the bosman players this window and not just sitting and watching players ala hoilett going to other clubs when we could try to get him

  8. MM do you think OGS is completly out of the mix? or do reckon he is still the biggest candidate? anyways complete bummer this, i think OGS is one of the most exciting managers around that we are able to get. martinez and lambert are ok managers but you know what you get with them, middel of the park fotball that never gonna turn your sqaud into serious contenders for top 6.

I don't know but he fits the profile for them and the fans the club . Ticks majority of boxes and what I would say is if it's not him then whoever gets it will have to be and they know it same profile .

Some who are throwing hat in the ring aint that profile , some are but who don't know :!:

ok cheers, but do you know if all this PR and Molde/Røkke buisness got something to do with him not being as set in stone as previously thought or if he always only was ment as a candidate amongst many?

  10. this is quite unbeliveble, everything today about OGS started with only thetrees laying 2+2 together and getting 4. and when he says it phsycaly impossible for solskjær being back in norway because the times stated he was back and planes flying dont add up i belive him because its seems to me he has already proven his ability too mulitiply. a big cheer from me to thetrees
