Could stay on his feet, should have been a foul on Diaby though.

Diaby needs to trust his right foot.
Would have been a sharp chance on his right, his body shape was all wrong to try with his left though it's true. Needed it a fraction further in front of him

Good hit that from kluivert

Beautiful ball from bailey to diaby
-
Needed a better ball from McGinn to bailey
-
Starting to look tidy need to manage the possession and get a rest on the ball when we can.

I’m getting this in early . The referee is shit.
Why no changes yet? Unai out!

Shame he's not fit, all our attacking options are on the pitch, there's only Duràn to bring on from the bench

I feel like all of our players are irreplaceable at different times -- but none of them really are, we all know. I guess I am more smitten with this cast of characters on this squad than I have been with any Villa squad. I don't want any single thing ever to change.
And while I do hope we hold onto this charmed squad and manager as long as possible, intellectually, I know football seasons are long and short at the same time, and change inevitable, awful, and yet redemptive, too. It's like love. Enjoy what you have while it lasts, because in the end, it will always change.
Yeah I didn't mean eternally, but right now looking at this summer for the next season.

Re losing players for me Martinez is the only irreplaceable one, maybe Ollie as well. Beyond those two I’d fully back Unai to find options to thrive in our structure. Look at Rogers. Also look at how the players were performing pre Unai. Unai and his team are the key to all of this
Ollie is totally irreplaceable as well. Who would you conceivably buy with the return Watkins gives us in terms of goal involvement a that is 27/28 years old that would not cost £100m+?

if we are in the Europa League instead of the CL, we will be doing so without several of our best players. I'm pretty sure Ollie will leave, Luiz will leave and maybe 1 or 2 others.
Not just for their ambitions, but also because of FFP.
We have to get CL. Europa is not good enough given our precarious position on the financial front.
Give it a rest dude, take a day off

Did some good work, great close control, often with a couple of players pressing him.

He came deep and linked things up and carried a threat. Was key to getting us going last night, along with Bailey.

As for Lille they were well coached, played well and really should consider themselves unlucky. Keeper made some incredible saves
Right back though is a clearing in the woods, modern day Robbie Savage
I'd sign Santos to be fair, would be a great addition.
Lille were great, hard to fathom why Fonseca couldn't get a tune out of a more talented Roma squad. Massive respect to their fans and the atmosphere they created, just does not happen in England anymore (top level anyway).
We did not manage the ball we'll enough and as a result failed to control the game. We were not shit all of a sudden, Emery was not a word removed all of a sudden because we went 2 down. L
Duran and Bailey were great btw, special mention to Ollie and that pen after all the bullshit that went before it. Oh and Emi, ha, **** Emi is a legend.

Not sure what our fans have been watching this season if they're criticising us trying to invite the press and play round it. That and the high line, playing narrow etc is how we play.

We'll get a chance, hopefully we can put it away.

Plenty of time, just need to trust how we were playing before the penalty.
