Our new signings 10/10, -2 for not signing a centre mid and -1 for losing Grealish. Overall a solid 7/10.

We have got some good young keepers at the club. Bodes very well for the future.

From next summer onwards we don't need to buy more than one or two players per window. These young uns with a season of experience will hopefully be able to get us up the league.
That's barring any major outgoings of course.
I probably would have liked a better option than Steer to come in but he's passable for a game or two.
Is Romero still available? Any free agent can be signed outside of a transfer window I believe.

I’m glad it’s nearly over to be honest. It’s been a painful one this year despite actually making some great signings. I am a bit disappointed that we didn’t add to centre mid but we are yet to see the plan in anywhere near full flight! Yes, I do have serious reservations but we need to give it a chance now. If things don’t work out as planned we will hopefully have some room to move in January. No buying is always a better alternative to panic buying!

My MotM on Saturday. Brentford’s goal wasn’t remotely his fault from my viewpoint, unless he was supposed to be marking Toney/ the space Toney was in, which appeared to be either Axel or Carney’s job.
I agree that there were a catalogue of errors but there is no way that the cross should ever have made it into the box. It was a half hearted effort from Doug to prevent it. Watch it again. I would be surprised if you don’t agree.

If we were linked to him this summer and people watched the below he'd be getting raved about as the missing link. Big facts.
I genuinely don’t think he looks that great in this video. He was really good after project re-start 1 though so we know he can do it. He just seems to have big lapses in concentration at key times.
The Brentford goal on Saturday should never have happened. Luiz should have prevented the ball coming back into the centre of the box but he got his tackle technique all wrong. If he opens his body up there is no way that ball reaches Toney. It’s these little lapses that have been letting him down. He needs to cut these down and he will be a really good player for us again.- 1

I'll give this window a 5/10 rating if no further signings are made.
I think squad as a whole is stronger but no Jack so we have lost that edge and gaping hole in midfield.
This was the time to push on and try and catch the teams above us instead i think we will be going backwards.
I will also be disappointed if we don’t get anybody else but 5/10! Blimey! You must have been in all sorts of turmoil during the Lambert years.

I reckon we are about £100k to the good in terms of wages. Would that allow a back up GK to come in, plus Doukoure and Daamsgard? That would be season changing in my view. We can but dream

A permanent signing is looking more and more unlikely at this late stage. I wonder whether we may sign someone on loan instead. I don’t want him but would not be surprised to see Ruben Loftus Cheek move somewhere. I’m sure there will be a few other loan moves to come also. Could one be heading our way?

Carney has got all the attributes he needs to be a top player. He just needs time now to really learn and understand his role. He will be a top player by the time he is 20 which is some achievement

Can't see our season really getting going until October tbh.
Next month could easily be 3 defeats given Chelsea and Man. United are two of the toughest aways around and ones we lose most seasons and Everton have started well and are tougher to break down under Benitez.
Going to take a while to warm up this year so any points are good for me currently.
Will judge Dean when he has Bailey, Watkins and McGinn all available and see what sort of regular formation and style of play he comes up with.
Why will you only judge Dean when he has all his players available? Surely his job is to get the best out of what he has available? It’s ridiculous to think that you can only judge a manager on his record when he has everyone available. How often does that happen?
So far, I would say, that given the circumstances, we are probably 1 point maybe if you are being harsh 2 points down. That’s judging Dean on reality not utopia.- 2

Maybe but I’m guessing it’s less than remote. Dean will be around all season imo even if results start off poorly.
He will definitely be given some time. Not sure it will be as much as some think though.

Ha ha. Time will tell

Been poor for months. He’s lucky to be getting starts at the moment. Hopefully a break will do him good. He needs to get back to his early season form from last year.

This was all totally foreseeable and thus surely the club has a plan? I will be amazed if a keeper is not signed before the window ends. Surely a new keeper is a must!

A couple of weeks ago someone suggested that maybe NSWE had ceased buying players because they had become unsure of Dean. They wanted to see how he performed before sanctioning any further deals. That way, if he does fail, money is available for the new manager. Likewise, if he does well he will have earned further investment.
I think there may well be something in this and it makes some sense. Dean has had £300m to spend which is a huge amount of money. You would expect to see a cohesive unit with a well defined style given the time available and the investment made. This is far from the case. It’s early doors this season so it makes sense to see how things unfold. After 10 games, if things don’t improve, pressure will build. If we are averaging a little over 1 point per game after 15 games then Dean will be gone. Any new manager will then be able to spend some cash in January. I really think the period between now and November will be massive for Dean. It’s make or break now!For the record, I obviously hope he makes it. He is a great bloke and he is one of us. In reality, I have massive reservations. At this moment I would be more surprised if he is still here at the end of the season than I would be to have a new manager in place.

I have been very critical of Dean lately. I am also unconvinced about his suitability at this level but he did the best he could today considering all of the disruptions he faced. A draw is not a terrible result particularly as we went behind so early. Hopefully we now have time to get more players match fit. If things don’t improve then, he will start to come under serious pressure.

This could get very ugly! We need a fast response!

Isn't that why you buy a top keeper and good defenders. Yes we faced shots, could that not also be part of the way we defend. I don't remember too many games where teams had great chance after great chance.
Like I said. Look at the stats. Plus, if we ever lose Emi we are in big trouble.

I fancy us for the clean sheet and Ings to get his 3rd in 3 games

Did we get sliced open last season?
If I remember correctly we equalled our premier league record for clean sheets.
We did but look at the stats. We had a very high number of saves made by Emi and last ditch blocks by our defenders. It was not controlled defending. We got carved open lots but the last gasp efforts of some key players saved us. That’s unsustainable in my view.

Our first two PL performances have been fairly poor. If we play to the same level tomorrow we will stand a good chance of losing!
Hopefully the lads will start to click. We need more from Buendia and having Ollie back could give us a lift. I don’t like Ollie on the left but if the alternative is AEG then I would be ok with Ollie playing left of a 4-3-3. Brentford will definitely score. I think maybe a 2-2 draw (hoping for 3-2).

getting in to Europe is not a race... Everyone is expecting that we neEeEeEEeEEd to do this this season or we are DooooOoOOm0ooomed Fooo0oooO000O00o0reEeeeEEeveeeeeer. We don't need to, we need to maintain stability and incremental improvement
losing Grealish may take a tactical hit this season, but we have some positive signings and our youth players are progressing very nicely.. as things stand, I believe we are 2/3 seasons away from being a regular European team
Read my post mate. I am directly talking about the stated expectation of the owners. It’s not my view it’s theirs.

We’ve been spending huge amounts but without any return. Yes we sold Jack, but now it’s the time for next level. We need Bailey’s quality right now. Where and how much can we find those?
There are plenty of midfielders that are significantly better than we have, who could be attainable. I still think we will bring one in.

Jack has been rubbish for City and England. He plays in a totally different way. He never carries the ball anymore. It’s his greatest strength! We will be buying him back for £25m at this rate. Grass not always greener!
