    Dear new owner(s),

    Please get rid of macron.

    Thanks.

    yeah get warrior in...

or get a deal like the baggies, stoke etc where we pay adidas to make our kits, but at least the fans get the 3 stripes on their arm rather than the macron men...

or give the shirt to whoever pays us the most, if macron are daft enough to give us £8m a year to make our shirts then so be it

8m in a year. £50 a shirt and it falls apart? Shirts are about the fans, bought by the fans. The club getting £8m a year is good but fans forking out £50 for a very badly made 'shirt' is wrong IMO.

I've had all four kits, and none have fell apart. It's been said on here before, but you just need to wash them properly.

    Dear new owner,

If you could post a picture of yourself holding a piece of paper on which are written the words "Scuba Steve" I guarantee that we, the fanbase will be behind you forever.

    Thank you.

Off topic but what is the scuba Steve stuff I must've missed that in off topic

Go over to the Hall of Fame and read the Honeytrap thread, it'll be worth you time

  3. Raping your sister next to your incest - begotten son's corpse has to be a new low, even for a Lannister.

To be fair, in the book, it is a bit less rapey. A bit.

Edit: Remembering back, it isn't seen from Cersei's POV, but Jaime's. The point still stands though, my reading of it was that it was consensual, just a bit twisted. It's one of the things that the show misses without the internal monologues, it's hard to really tell what's happening at times.

  4.

HH was on here leaking teams before. You don't really need a spy..

Yes too much has been made of this.  This type of leaking goes on all the time. Has done for years.

This is the same argument Gary Neville put forward when he claimed kids should be taught to dive, and it's just as ludicrous. They've broken Premier League rules. Plain and simple, it's cheating. And just because everyone's cheating, doesn't mean it's OK.

It's one of the things I hate about football nowadays, everyone just accepts cheating and does nothing about it. Look at Rugby. A couple years ago, eye gouging started to become a real problem, the IRB didn't like it and wanted to stamp it out. So what did they do? They started handing out heavy bans, about 17 in 3 years with one being for 70 weeks, for anyone caught doing it, and now it has virtually disappeared from the professional game. The last ban was in January for a 7s player, but before that? You'd have to go all the way back to 2011. As I say, virtually gone.

This is why I'd like to see the FA throw the book at Palace. Not just because it might positively affect us somehow, but because the point of the governing bodies is to stamp out cheating of any kind and actual govern the sport.

But what am I talking about here, this is football and the FA. Palace will probably be fined £10,000 or something, and then everyone will forget about it and go back to calling football "the beautiful game" despite the rampant cheating that is incessant in the game that everybody turns a blind eye to because "Everyone's doing it".

Served him well though didn't it.

He should've had more opportunities, he was brilliant at 17
    and shit at 21
He was mismanaged, he had so much potential, he was the best young striker in the country, I'll never forget how good he was in 08/09
he was never good in the first team though.

And despite what you say, he had plenty of chances.

His problem is he never took them.

Was just about to say this.

Despite how highly rated he was at youth level, he never did it at senior level. I don't think you can really blame it on being mismanaged as he had plenty of games to impress in, 50 to be exact.

Whenever he played, he seemed to me to be 1 or 2 seconds behind the play. Whenever a ball was played behind the defence he seemed to take a couple of seconds to assess what was happening before he made his run, something he probably got away with at youth level but meant he hardly ever got on the end of those balls in the Premier League.

Anyway, onto Robinson, seemed OK, I'd say start him next week, can't do any worse than Gabby's been doing, so may as well try. Plus he was awesome when I had him on loan at Rotherham in League 1 on Football Manager, so hopefully he can play well enough to become a real life favourite for me, as well as a virtual one :D

    He was born in 1995.

I think he's the first player to play for Villa that is younger than me

  6. Is there anything in the rule books that say it isn't allowed though?

They are accused of breaking these 3 rules by Cardiff :-

B.15. In all matters and transactions relating to the League each Club shall behave towards each
other Club and the League with the utmost good faith.

B.16. No Club either by itself, its servants or agents shall by any means whatsoever unfairly criticise,
disparage, belittle or discredit any other Club or the League or in either case any of its
    directors, officers, employees or agents.

B.17. A Club shall not without the Board’s prior written consent either during its membership of the
League or at any time after its membership has terminated disclose or divulge either directly
or indirectly to any Person whatsoever or otherwise make use of any confidential information
as to the business or finances of the League or any other Club or any of their dealings,
transactions or affairs or as to any other matters which may come to its knowledge by reason
of its membership save to statutory and regulatory authorities or as may be required by law
or to such Officials and Auditors of that Club to whom such disclosure is strictly necessary for
the purpose of their duties and then only to the extent so necessary.

I don't know what the punishment would be though, but I sure as bet that if Cardiff's complaint is upheld, we'll complain too, and I'd imagine every other club would want to know if it's happened against them as well.

Depending how many teams they've done this to, assuming they have knowingly, they should be punished pretty harshly.

  7. Won their 5th game on the bounce today and they apparently had our team exactly right hours before kick off, possibly much sooner. Added in with the Cardiff stuff, something very fishy is going on down their IMO.

Pulis may be doing a great job at the minute, but with the recent allegations, I do find myself wondering if their sudden upturn in form is anything to do with said allegations.

If Cardiff are trying to get the match replayed, so should we......

Let's hope not. Knowing our luck Cardiff would win and we would lose again.

If Palace are guilty the results should be void and the match awarded to us/Cardiff. If a club was caught doing that on matchday and the game was called off there is no way it would be replayed.

As unlikely as it is, it'd be hilarious if Palace were found guilty and they had their last 5 results (the amount they've suddenly and inexplicably won) over turned, which would most likely result in relegation :P

Maybe the reason Pulis is doing so well is he knows the opposition line up days beforehand :detect:

  9. I have a feeling we'll be playing for 4 more draws this season. 4 more points would put us on 39 points, and unless Fulham or Cardiff win all 3 games and they positively change their GD by 29(F)/21(C ), it's practically impossible for us to finish below those two, and Sunderland would be required to win their last 4. So I think 39 points would guarantee survival, especially when you consider that WBA and Norwich would need 6 and 7 points respectively also to finish above us.

IF the takeover rumours are true, then Lambert's remit will almost certainly be to get us over the line so the takeover can go ahead. Sure, winning against Swansea or Hull would almost certainly secure safety, but getting 4 draws will probably be the "safer" way to get over the line.

  10. Did alright today I thought, a good couple of runs and made a lot of effort to create stuff.

The problem with him though, and it always will be, is that his crosses are all flash and no bang. Yeah, he can put in a nice looking curling cross that makes you get out of your seat, but he rarely puts those crosses on anyone's head. Many times his crosses go too close to the keeper or won't beat the first man. Only watched the second half, but most the crosses I saw were either picked up by Boruc by his feet or went to no-one.

You can say that no-one was getting on the end of his crosses, but no-ones been getting on the end of his crosses for about 5 years now, with various strikers.

The problem isn't who he's crossing for, it's his crosses.

  11. Only watched second half, but seemed a decent result, stopped the rot so to speak.

For all the possession Southampton had, they were bloody tedious with it.

Think that point sees us safe now though, providing Cardiff don't score a winner now, the bottom three will need to win all but 1 of their remaining goals to go above us, if we lose every single game.

  12.

As the likes of Liverpool, Atleti, Dortmund etc. have shown, you don't need obscene levels of spending to be successful anyway. Just good management and smart investments.

Yeah, Saurez, Sturridge, coutinho Mignolet all came for next to next nothing - Ive heard that Gerrard and Suurez are 10k per week - what is it that compels people to say things which blatantly aren't true about Liverpool ?

They haven't spent Chelsea/City amounts of money is the point. 'Obscene' being the key word you obviously failed to register.

I'd call £150m+, and whatever wages they pay (I'd imagine an average of ~50k p/w?), to build a squad, an obscene amount.

  13. Xena-Not saying you're hypocritical

BUT think about it realistically, if we're going to accept hand outs, where do we draw the line? What is an acceptable figure to accept before "the heart & soul" is ripped out of our club?

Money talks all the way through the PL & beyond. We wanted Bent, we got him, we wanted Lambert, we got him-All clubs do this & always have done

£20 million will allow us to bully teams like Stoke & Hull for their players. £250 will allow us to bully teams like Everton & Newcastle for their players. Me personally would prefer to be taking players from Newcastle & Everton than I would from Stoke & Hull.

The heart and soul of football was ripped out circa 1992, pretty much the only way to get anywhere nowadays is to spend, spend, spend.

Couldn't be arsed really how much we spent if it meant we started challenging near the top again, if you can't beat them, join 'em.

Personally, if we get new owners, I'd like to see us continue with our current "policy" (Young and "Hungry") but with higher fees and wages to attract better players.

  14. Yaya Toure has claimed* he'd be the considered one of the best midfielders in the world if he wasn't African. My question is, is he not considered one of the best?

I don't know whether I'd say he's the best midfielder in the world, but he's certainly the best in his role, the box to box type engine in midfield. I can't think of many other players that are better in midfield, maybe players like Hazard, Xavi, Iniesta? But that's not really fair comparisons as they are completely different players. I just don't get where this claim is coming from, is he not considered one of the best by the pros?

Maybe he doesn't get talked about as much as players like Hazard or Ronaldo - not quite a midfielder, but he also claimed he'd be considered one of the best players too, again, isn't he? - but that's because he doesn't do the flashy stuff that often, he's not the sort of player to get 30+ goals or go on mazy runs where he beats 5-6 players. Remember when he scored about 5 free kicks at the start of the season? Pundits where raving about him then.

Seriously, does the footballing world not consider Yaya Toure as one of, if not the, best midfielder in the world at the minute?

*Well, he agreed with Nasri's comments on the subject.

  15.

    Robert Kraft would be great.

    • Owns Cadbury - local firm, easy cross marketing, could use Kraft foods/Cadbury as a sponsor (unless thats against the rules?) gives us semi-legal money and advertises one of Krafts brands across the world as Football and The Premier League in particular continues to increase globally

Robert Kraft has nothing to do with Kraft foods (and ergo Cadbury's)
