  1. QPR and Burnley need to win every game now to finish above us, with us losing all 3, now we need stay above one of the other four, and with how we're playing should easily stay up now.

  2. I'm going to say that I don't think that's a foul. Coleman just stood there and held his ground

Coleman was literally holding Given's arm down so he couldn't catch it.

  3. Great play by Benteke to use Okore to block Barry from tracking his run.

We've been awesome this half, and Everton look rattled and starting to get a bit dirty, if Clattenburg remembers he does in fact have some cards, I can see a red for an Everton player.

  4. A few more for Leicester and newcastles goal dif will be buggered - looks like its us, them or sunderland to go. Part of me wants a sunderland win as well as a villa win today..

Our goal difference is already better than theirs, just need points to get above them now.

  5. How did we lose to them.

Because their win against us was the win that put them on 35 points and made them think they were safe, they've just not been arsed since.

Edit: Well, that's not why they beat us, but it's why they've been absolute dogshite since and why everyone is beating them now.

  6.

With Sinclair and Cleverley out, Andi will likely start tomorrow. I hope he does well again.

I thought he was fit, he's certainly in the training pictures on the OS.

Just hope Wemann does not start, he has not impressed this season.

Might want to check the date there again ;)

Top class today, I just wish he'd be a little bit more selfish sometimes and go for goal.

Aye,especially the one he turned with the ball and played it through for Zog.

That was an absolute ball.  N'Zogbia decided to stop running - it was madness!  Grealish had played it perfectly for him to run on to it left footed.  That's the dream for N'Zogbia, really.  Right decision for me over having a shot.

There's so much feel good to the lad - it's unreal.  He's got a starting eleven place nailed on for me, is a Villa lad through and through and is making bigger players look like fools at times.  He's got a massive future in the game.  My Dad is a bit of a sceptic when it comes to me talking how about good or bad Villa players are - as we watching the City game he just said "yeah, this kid is a player".  Validation for me :D

That ball highlighted the problem with being one play ahead of your team mates, N'Zogbia just wasn't expecting it, it looked like he thought he would shoot. Although, I think that pass getting messed up (and one flick in the first half Delph didn't make a run for) is actually good for him and us as a team, because there was an almost identical pass later on that N'Zogbia kept running for and got a shot off. If our players see Grealish trying these things, and then start anticipating them, we going to have some awesome attacks going forward.

As for Jack, it may be slightly early to say, but I think he's one of the best players I've seen in a Villa shirt, definitely the best dribbler. The ease with how he runs past players is a joy to behold. Keep hold of him and Benteke, and we have the making of something special.

We're not going down.. We just made Man City, the Champions look decidedly average for large portions of the game yesterday. I don't really like the saying "we're too good to go down", but based on recent form we seriously are too good to go down.

The reality of it all is,

If the 3 teams below us get the draw/win they require with their games in-hand, then unfortunately its out of our own hands!

I don't want to tempt fate, but, Leicester's game in hand is Chelsea this Wednesday, Hull's is Plop on Tuesday and Sunderland's is Arsenal in a few weeks, I find it highly unlikely that all three will leapfrog us after their games in hand.

I think it's still in our hands, personally, if we beat either Everton or West Ham, neither too unlikely, and I think we're pretty much safe.

  9. Played really well IMO, apart from the start obviously, we can still get back in this if we calm down a bit and get at them.

Although I'm fairly sure some of the moves Grealish, Delph and Benteke are putting together shouldn't be allowed on TV before the watershed!

  10. We have a much higher turnover (7th highest) compared to the previous season (12/13) which is very promising. I wonder how much that increased now this year with Fox in charge.

    ETA:

59% wage to turnover ratio, down from 86%(!!!) the previous season, and only losing 3.9M compared to 51.8M. So yeah, things were definitely not sustainable, but now we have a platform to build off of, rather than a slippery slope.

Noticed that too, so looks like we massively improved revenue, I'm assuming that's just new TV money, or has that not started yet? If no, where's that extra cash come from?

  11.

What's wrong with it? I didn't think it was that serious of a drug/gas.

Has been considered as a way to humanely execute people in certain states of America.

And is also used as anaesthetic for surgeries and dentistry. Just because too much of something can kill you doesn't mean people should be vilified for taking a small amount. Chocolate is poisonous if you have enough of it.

The media once again making mountains out of molehills.

  12.

saw him outside of VP before QPR and I asked him how life was outside of Aston Villa

    He simply replied 'not great'.

I feel sorry for him, he was more than decent for us

Can't really feel sorry for someone being paid £40,000 a week to play football in the premier league.

I feel sorry for someone who is Villa through & through yet couldnt stay involved due to Lambert's silly decision. His dream must have been to play for us.

Hence, I feel sorry for him,

I don't feel sorry for him, he was treated almost as if he was some god by some fans despite having done the grand sum of **** all in his career. He is not very good and gets paid a ludicrous amount of money to very rarely play football, why feel sorry, cause he's a Villa fan? It was my dream to play for Villa when I was growing up but it didn't happen, feel sorry for me?

I don't have anything against the guy and hope he has a decent career, he seemed to put in tonnes of effort when he played, but the fact is he's a winger that isn't very fast, doesn't score, can't beat a full back with skill and his crosses always looked fancy but never got past the first man.

If we could've got him to stay for between £10k-20k pw, I wouldn't have minded, but lets be honest, Lambert not giving Albrighton £30k+ pw is probably one of the wisest decisions he made at the club!

  13. Yeah was going to say the same thing.

100k seems crazy, but it's the going rate for a good premier league player at a club that size these days.

Henderson is actually a good player, and could be their captain for a long time.

Don't really see much wrong with that contract. Relatively speaking of course.

Whilst what you say is probably right, you would have thought they might wait a week or two before announcing it surely? I mean, if I was a Plop fan right now, reading that Henderson is about to get a £100k p/w contract just days after being completely anonymous in arguably their biggest game of the season, a game where they were outplayed by a team that might still get relegated, I'd think it was a bit of a slap in the face. I know teams shouldn't make these decisions based on one game and securing Henderson's contract is probably a high priority for them right now, but the Liverpool fans have a fair bit animosity towards the manager/club atm, so announcing this almost seems as if they're rewarding their own ineptitude.

I don't think the contract is that bad, the timing is just odd, and I don't think they'll get the reaction they might have hoped for.

Michael Johnson scored a great goal against us once

In his early days at City I thought he was going to be the new Gerrard he looked a great prospect.

Just a sad tale of a young lad liking a drink and a bite to eat too much and also a massive 5 year deal early on which wrecked things.

Like a drink and bit to eat?

He suffered from serious mental issues, alcoholism and depression.

Not to mention the constant injuries he had, all a bit sad really.

  15. The difference is, Benteke is about 7 years younger and obviously offers much more to the team than Bent. Benteke has more than goals to his game, Bent doesn't.

For me, Bent over the last few seasons can be summed up by our home game v Norwich in Lambert's first season. Winning 1-0 and Bennett gets sent off just before HT (I think). Second half we are under a lot of pressure but we are dealing with it comfortably, whenever we win the ball back, it's played to Benteke who holds the ball up a bit and we counter. Then with roughly 30 minutes to go, Benteke comes off for Bent. Suddenly whenever we clear the ball, it goes up to the Norwich defence and they attack again. We were under constant pressure for the last 30 minutes because we had no outlet. Bent was constantly losing/not winning the ball. At one point I remember that Bent evidently got bored and started standing on the edge of our own box.. We ended up conceding and drawing.

When Bent doesn't score, he's a passenger, and relegation battlers can't afford to have passengers. Bent hasn't been scoring enough the last few seasons to justify keeping him, and doing well in the Championship is no reason to ignore that. When Benteke doesn't score, he is still a handful for defenders and can create chances, so trying to justify Bent's terrible record by comparing to Benteke is absurd, especially when Benteke was coming back from injury (and now has 8 goals in the last 6 games).
