Against the best team in Europe they showed some fight and bottle. SG certainly hasn't lost the dressing room, we was lucky, but i'll take it.
Young MOM, Ramsey and Kamara are going to be very good players, Bailey is our match winner. Martinez and Digne played well, Konsa and Mings better, Luiz on the ball is fine, not sure off the ball.

His runs and positioning suit Emi and PC better than Ings and Watkins.
Ings is too slow, and Watkins doesn't know where to run.
Archer and Bailey stretched the game

For the future, Massengo from Bristol City

Zaha and Eze run the show today, a bit like 2 seasons ago.
I was advocating Eze years ago, but that ship has sailed. SWe haven't got anybody in our team who is better than Zaha

Tayls, i watched todays game, i saw Emi getting the ball and having no options because nobody was making runs, i saw Watkins consistantly giving the ball away, i saw Bailey constantly trying to get free kicks, i saw lack of ability in the final 1/3rd.
If we had Zaha today we wouldn't have lost. I'm not sure about SG, but i do think he has been left some duds, and i do like his signings, so atm i am prepared to give him more time

Good Tayls
SG is getting the blame for previous signings.
He might not be good enough, but i would defy any manager to get a good midfield out of our squad

Theres only 3 current midfielders we have now , who i want in 12 months time. Thats Tim, Kamara, and JJ. The rest aren't good enough, full stop

Or don't play Emi or PC.
I think it will be either Emi or PC, and Sarr or Bailey.
I would play Tim and Kamara in next weeks game and play, if we have Sarr, Sarr, Emi or PC, and Bailey.
Still need a decent forward though
-
I think he will sign a midfielder before the end of the transfer window.
If i was SG, i would want to die on my sword and be given the opportunity to get in the players i want.
I'm not disappointed with any of his signings tbh
-
Nobody plays with wingers anymore. Wide players are expected to get goals, Mahrez, Zaha atm, Salah. Sarr hopefully will develop into this kind of player. Bailey possibly
-
Neither are good enough imho

If you can get anything over £20m then sell him

Tbh a mole i think SG has tried to change it. He has tried all the midfielders, apart from Sansom, and none of them consistently impress. The only one who does is his signing.

I think tbh DC Jonah, that he wants to play this fluent midfield of an attacking midfielder ,atm Ramsey, supporting PC or Emi on the left, a CF, and a wide attacker. He lost out on Bissouma and i think that kind of player would have allowed him more flexibility in the team.
-
Plus he could play as a more inside forward. Mane was a winger at Southampton, and played as a wide attacker at Lplop. I think hes a good signing, right age, improving ability.
-
As i said Right, i never thought he was as good as some on here thought, but hes not as bad as some are saying. £2m is/was certainly very good value.
Personally , if we get Sarr i would be looking for a Bissouma clone and a CF, and let McGinn, Luiz, Watkins, Ings, and Luiz go. Not one of them good enough to be where we want to be.
-
And they are?
-
Don't disagree MaVilla
Never thought he was as good as some on here thought 2 years ago, but hes not as bad as some of the knowitalls are implying now.
For me the only good midfielder at the club is Kamara, JJ probably will be, as will Tim, the rest are all a bit meh to me.
SG never recruited one of them
-
He cost £2m

Whats a baby boomer?

My take on SG system.
He wants a flat back 4, with at least one CH being a good passer, hence Carlos, the 2 FBs being comfortable going forward.
He has a CDM who drops in to protect the CHs and cover when one of the FBs is attacking, hence Kamara. He wants one of the midfielders to be an attacking midfielder who will get you goals but puts a shift in. a la Platt, that long term will be Ramsey, the other midfielder is more of a passer with physicality, hence why he was after Bissouma.
He wants a playmaker in the final 1/3rd, PC or Emi, a widish goalscoring attacker, we haven't got one, Bailey at a push, and a striker who makes runs and can finish, we haven't got one.
Now SG will get all the blame, managers always do, but i like the system he likes, but 3 of the positions he wants better quality in are badly letting us down. Bissouma would have made a big difference, but thats in the past, Watkins never holds the ball up, gives it away far too much, and his lack of ability may be the reason why we don't play it more quickly. Bailey shows signs, but you watch Zaha or Eze today, and that is what we need.
Give Gerrard this season, his purchases are better than Smiths, so if he does lack tactical knowhow like some of you seem to think, then the remnants of his reign will be better than what he inherited,
Poch will be Ure manager before Christmas
-
Sorry USA_Villa, meant to put 12 months.
I would play Tim and Kamara next week. Concentrate on protecting the back 4, and i've had enough of Watkins and Ings
-
Didn't deserve anything out of that game, but i have to say that is an absolute joke of a decision for the penalty.
Difficult to know where to start today.
Martinez's distribution was woeful, Digne and Cash poor both defensively and in attacking situations, Cash's choice of a final ball is poor, Mings and Konsa looked liked accidents waiting to happen, Mings has to do better for the 3rd.
Midfield, pass, all awful, not good enough on the ball, don't keep it well enough, dont' move it quick enough. Neither Sansom or Luiz are an improvement either.
Bailey, too lightweight, always looking for a free kick. Has quality though.
Buendia, when he got the ball he was our best player, not enough options when he had it though.
Watkins, always breaks down when it is played up to him.
Gerrard. I'm uncomfortable with replacing a manager after less than 3 months. I like the players he has brought in, i think some of the players he inherited are not as good as we think they are. We had nobody in the final 1/3rd anywhere near the quality of Zaha or Eze.

Good on the ball, terrible off it.
Hes better than McGinn atm, but we need better.
Now Kamara was very good, and JJ shows glimpses of real quality, those 2 should start.
