  1. Well obviously substitutions are up to him but again I'd have thought there would be some kind of game plan there too. Or maybe i presume football to be a much more thought out and professional game that it actually is, i dunno lol.

  2. Impressive but Moyes and Big Sam have never managed big clubs like Liverpool and Inter Milan so it's to be expected that Rafa would have won more trophies.

Good/great managers dont need to be at a big club to impress and succeed. A great manager will be able to get a small team to perform at much higher than expectations and will get credit for that, which is why they move to bigger clubs. The managers you keep talking about have not done this [bar Moyes who has been very consistent with little money] Big Sam is very good at making a team safe from relegation with an outside chance of midtable. Not exactly well above expectations for Bolton, Newcastle and Blackburn - its just where they should have been. He's a midtable manager at best.

  3. Get the feeling he wont be doing (and hasnt been doing) any decision making and is just going off of any plan they've already had and talking to Houllier, no chance is he going to be running it his own way.

  4. Had it not been for Houllier this year, I would be fairly receptive to the idea of Benitez, but all he has done since moving back to the country is whine on about how much he loves plop, and I dont think I could stomach another manager like that.

wow biggest exaggeration to ever grace this forum. Including 'Once in a generation player'.

  5. Did you see the English managers on the list? I chose Moyes as one of my 'take everyday of the week' choices, there were no other good managers that are English on there. You'd take my nan as manager over Hiddink or Van Gaal and that makes you an idiot.

  6. Van Gaal, you think Houllier caused problems with his strict regime. They'd think Hitler is reborn with Van Gaal.

He commands a lot of respect, I for one never had a problem with the strict regime it needed to happen. Van Gaal doesn't look so glum or (and i disagree with this but its used a lot) 'clueless' as Houllier.

Reported on his first day at a club (maybe Bayern?) that he walked into the room and dropped his trousers to show he had the balls to drop any one of them if they weren't performing.

(Similar to how when Capello took the England post the media spoke of his regime like it was the second coming of christ because it sorted out the overpampered, overpaid, underworked and underperforming players - now his strict regime is like hitler has pissed on the presents at christmas).

Our players needed a strict regime this year or they'd have walked all over management and the team and we'd have been in the shit and imo Houllier wasn't harsh enough on them or maybe he didnt couple his stance with enough authority that the players thought he'd carry out his 'threats' i dont know, it didnt work but i think it didnt go far enough, not 'too far' like many.

He just had a case of doing too much in too little time regarding style, strictness, wagebill, scouting, youth system etc - all needed to happen just maybe over a season rather than a few weeks.

  7. Not entirely certain on this but last time didn't the general say that Premiership experience was vital?

Yeah thats true but im sure it was also said that 'top level' experience too. Which would surely give way to the likes of Van Gaal, Rikjaard and Deschamps who have all reached or won Champions League finals in recent years.

Capello too + vast experience of the English game (obviously)

Hiddink and Moyes have Premiership experience in recent years, I'd expect Hiddink to get a 'bigger' job than us but was great in his [short] spell at Chelsea and loved by all the players and fans.

  8. That list is definitely interesting.

    Van Gaal

    Moyes

    Hiddink

    Capello

    Deschamps

    Rikjaard

Would take any of these in no particular order, any of them would be a great capture for the club, any of them.

    Bilic

    Benitez

    Jol

    Klinsmann

    Sven

I'd make do with but wouldnt be my first choice.

    No to the rest.

  9. Can somebody explain to me why Benitez is a no go?! He was brilliant at Liverpool! And he has won more stuff than anybody on that list - almost. Why the ****, would we want a manager from the championship?! Makes no sense what so ever.

I think its mostly because he quickly turned Champions League winning Inter and Champions League winning Liverpool into midtable teams very quickly.

Agree his CV is great and won the CL with Liverpool himself, but both clubs went down hill during his reign and i think this has marred his reputation.

  10. MatKendrick Mat Kendrick

Remarkably, I'm hearing Pardew might still be interested in taking Ireland back to Newcastle permanently next season - for a knockdown fee.

Guarantee theyve told him to fake an injury :P

  11. Allardyce is English and can speak English.

    Capello fails in both respects.

Yes but who has had the more success?

I'd rather try and fail with an Englishman than succeed with a foreigner.

And I think your signature should have a mandatory 'Im a Wind Up' attached to it.
