  1. It's a sorry state of a club when some of its fans resort to slagging off the other fans in order to show support for a failing manager and players, none of which will likely be at Villa in a couple of years. Unlike the fans being slagged off of course. Shameful.

I totally disagree. Why should the fans be above criticism? The last few weeks the majority of Villa fans have done nothing but moan & have displayed both total contempt & disrespect in equal measures to our Manager who needs it like a hole in the head. . It's a total double standard to claim that it's fine to slag off Lambert but unfair to level the same contempt to the fan base. If Lambert is not exempt then neither are the fans. If Lambert takes stick then so can the fans. If not why not? What's good for the goose is surely good enough for the gander.

Also, it is not a question of loyalty or a petty accusation of being a better fan than anyone else. It is  merely an observation.

Simply - How is being totally negative about things at our Club, completely outside of your own sphere of influence as fans, helping to move our Club forward?

Does anybody believe slagging off Paul Lambert is really helping the Club or the man himself at this moment in time?

The guy is under intense pressure & you would automatically think that in his & the whole Clubs desperate hour of need the fans would instantly rally to the cause & recognise that their undivided support can ultimately provide the fine margin that can secure our Premiership survival.

Surely the paradox is that you are only helping the opposition.

  2.

People, people, people, please quit with this "he's lost the fans nonsense."

    No he hasn't.

I bought my season ticket yesterday & so have many other Villa fans too to date.

I'd like to see the figures. There are lies and damned statistics just like the GDP figures. Perhaps Ken Dodd's accountant is involved?

& there is the season ticket renewal thread here on VT with many loyal Villa fans like myself confirming that they have indeed renewed. Just to confirm there was a queue when I renewed monday afternoon 28th April 2014. Also I do not ever use my 10% Villa cash but let it automatically phase itself out at the end of the season.

As for Ken Dodd's accountant I could have swore he was behind Ken Dodd in the queue along with Lester Pigott's Solicitor & Chuck Berry's attorney. ;)

Don't take my word for it. Just ask Eddie Murphy. :P

  3. I did mine on Saturday Morning (so that I could get the ten per cent cash back) - mind you I did have some regrets after the result - but I suppose if we do go down, we will at least get mostly 3.00 pm Saturday games and maybe win some!

Plus you won't get stuck in the motorway traffic en route to Old Trafford quite simply  because you won't be going to Old Trafford ;):P

  4. Villa home win V Hull

    Stoke home win V Fulham

    Newcastle home win V Cardiff

    Chelsea home win V Norwich

4 fold pays around 12.5/1 with Skybet

    Plus safety

I'll be having a go on that.

Might be an idea to cover your bet & go for 4 aways.

  5. People, people, people, please quit with this "he's lost the fans nonsense."

    No he hasn't.

One good win & things change. Believe me!

The whole Club just need to survive this season & then we can look to seriously assess where we are currently & where we really intend to be longer term & what needs to be done to seriously help Lambo to arrest the decline & achieve his & our ambitions. You can tell by his recent comments that he is pig sick of where our massive Club is currently languishing right now & he knows that this is totally unacceptable. ( Though through no fault of his own IMO I hasten to add.)

Serious lessons have surely been learn't by all those associated with the Club this season & most provocatively of all, it is the fan's, more than anyone, who are currently destabilising Lambert's sincere efforts to arrest the Clubs decline, because of their atrocious & negative attitudes, failure to grasp the true reality of how challenging the Villa Manager's job really is & their failure to recognise that he has been seriously handicapped, especially by injuries to key personnel, but most annoyingly of all it is their puerile action of spitting their dummies out at the worst possible time when the Club desperately need the 12th man to stand up & be counted & show what they are worth.

FFS! Stop moaning! Get behind the team, get behind the Manager & get behind the club 100% & prove that you too are also worthy to be recognised by the Club as being worthy of wearing the claret & blue scarf instead of constantly motivating the opposition by constantly dragging the Club down by creating a totally negative & detrimental atmosphere & slagging off the Manager & the team who are trying their very best to secure our future in the division.

    To sum up:

Directors direct. Managers Manage, Players play & Supporters Support.( allegedly)

So, hopefully now my message is clear?

    Support, support, support, support.

Don't moan about it - Just do it.

  6.

Blame Paul Lambert. Blah! Blah! Blah!

It's all his fault. Blah! Blah! Blah!

You don't know what your doing. Blah! Blah! Blah!

He hasn't got a clue. Blah! Blah! Blah!

I never wanted him in the first place. Blah! Blah! Blah!

We go again. Blah! Blah! Blah!

Well actually No. I don't blame Paul Lambert. It's definitely not his fault. He does know what he is doing. He has very much more than a clue. I wanted him in 100% in the first place & still do & like he says guys, "We go again."

Think you need to assess who it it you support, lambert or villa. What you should do is contact lambert and see if he'll take you on as his number 2(in his next job) because you both talk nonsense!!

I think you'll find that there are currently about 35,000 fans behaving like number two's at the moment.

Leave the guy alone & give him a break.

Like every Villa fan on VT I support Aston Villa. I eat, breath & sleep the club. Villa are my raison d' etre.

Just accept we all have different opinions & nobody ultimately is gonna change 'em.

Thanks for relieving any doubts I had that you are intentionally trolling just to provoke a reaction.

No. I have been consistent IMO from day one & have backed Paul Lambert implicitely. There are still fans who recognise his virtues. Ultimately it won't be me who calls time on his services but that is out of my hands entirely as it always will be.

I just think fans have gone OTT since the Palace game & are having a cheap pop at Paul Lambert who has been bustin' his balls trying to get the juggernaut to turn 180 degrees.

They say that you find out more about people & fans  when in adversity than when your having great success.

Many Man Utd fans wanted Sour Alex out after 3 seasons. They were wrong.

I believe many Villa fans are wrong about Lambo.

I just hope the current board keep faith or a new board too if the prospective take over speculation comes to fruition.

One day Paul Lambert is gonna' prove you all wrong. I just hope this turns out to be during his tenure at Villa Park.

He goes again. We go again. ;)

  9. As promised just renewed my North Stand season ticket earlier today @ £432.00

Best money I have ever spent.

Even better news is that  I was actually in a queue & there were plenty behind me too.

    Renew, renew, renew.

    Do it today.

You know you it makes sense. :flag:

  10. One question. Last season towards the end we were playing pretty decent hi-octane football with Gabby and Weimann running the channels - we had a direct but free flowing counter attacking style. Yes we conceded a fair number of goals still due to sill mistakes.

This season was meant to be 'more of the same' but without the comedy defending.

Yet somehow we started off with less comedy defending but a lot less goals, then progressed to comedy defending and less goals and then endless hoof ball tactics and no consistency or anything, other than injuries.

Yes I get that the three of Gabby, Andi, and Big Chris would be found out and marked heavily, but you'd still think we would have some success.

It was like everything we learnt last season has gone aside from some marginally better set piece defending.

It just proves that Paul Lambert is full of beans & has 57 varieties of tactics to employ as & when required.

  11.

Wondering if its worth renewing my Avtv subscription, for the Press conference

Doubt it, it's just a press conference with Lambert I think, I don't think he's going to really spill the beans about a takeover or even the Culverhouse/Karsa stuff.

Not sure if he's even going to be eating beans during

    Bean there & done it!

  12. Every football fan knows what a top keeper Shay Given was between the sticks in his prime.

Now, according to reports emanating from  Villa Park & BMH he also provides quality between the ears too.

Giving players the mind set & confidence to go out & compete  at the highest level & being able to motivate them  is a much needed boon & major asset to the club during this difficult, tense & nervy run in.

    Well done Shay.

Take a bow son. Take a Bow!

  13. We definitely need to sign a top quality Central Defender in the Summer. That way I would feel really confident if we played 3 5 2 with this new signing plus Vlaar & Okore.

If we play 4 4 2 then let the best 2 Central Defenders win the shirt.

  14. Swansea like to pass it around at the back. We need to play a front 3 high up the pitch to get in their face & try & dispossess them around the edge of their own penalty area & break up their passing game. I would like to see Gabby as the focal point of this attack with Weimann & Albrighton in the wide areas. I would even consider deploying Bertrand &/or Bacuna in these roles too.

I would experiment all week at BMH & then go 4 3 3 as follows:

               Guzan

    Lowton Vlaar Clarke Bennett

                 Delph

    Bacuna            Westwood

    Albrighton Agbonlahor  Bertrand

As you can see I have dropped El Ahmadi as he lacks pace & brought in Bennett at Left back as he played so well against Chelsea & I have dropped Baker because I don't think he has the concentration levels to deal with Bony.. However I would ask the Midfield & the back 4 to  squeeze high up the pitch while our front 3 are also pressing & I think there is enough energy in that team & formation that could hopefully secure us a result.

One thing I hope we don't do is play 3 5 2 & invite Swansea on. We never hold out in these situations & we've had it if Swansea score the first goal.

  15. Sunderland Cardiff is a massive match.  Lets hope its a draw.

0-0 would be perfect & we could send the DVD to Big 'Eck & Howard Wilkinson to drool over on their perfect night out/in ;)

  16. The notion that the criticisms of Lambert and/or his tactics is any less valid because those making them don't have coaching qualifications is completely ridiculous and I can't believe so many seemingly endorsed it.

By that logic the opinions of film and food critics who have neither produced films or been a chef are irrelevant and unjustified too, yes?

No. In the words of Dr Spock: "Illogical Captain!"

  17.

I watched Norwich play like Brazil when they gained promotion to the Premier League under Lambert

That has to be the craziest statement I have read on Villatalk in a long while.

In my view it disqualifies the rest of your post from serious or rational consideration.

Check out Norwich City 3 Bristol City 1 just before Norwich were promoted & you'll swear your watching Pele, Rivelinho, Jairzinho, Garincha, Zico, Ronaldo et al.

    Lambert rocks!
