  1. a mate of mine recently became a football agent and he is at VP on thurs. he represents a famous striker - his words - wont say who he is at this stage but said villa arent interested. he also thinks we'll struggle this year as we arent in the hunt for many of the players doing the rounds. eithe r we have a masterplan and noone knows it or the lack of movement is worrying

No offense pal, your mate recently became an agent and he said we weren't in for many players that were doing the rounds...I dont think its the kind of business where they run every potential deal by the new fish in the pond... and secondly the fact that we aren't in the hunt for many players "doing the rounds" is a good thing if they're anything like the players doing the rounds from our club (Hutton and Warnock).

none taken, i agree with all you say. he's a sales guy who got into it with a small agency and said its a bizarre job. he's just put two croatians into palermo and udinese so it sounds like a free for all and everyone gets to panic buy stage now. will be interesting to hear what he says about the meet tomorrow though

  4. is it just me or does anyone else feel like telling him to p#ss off now he isnt liverpools first choice that he'd "consider" our option...

appreciate despite their best attempts to induce ridicule, redscouse are still a bigger club than us mind you.

as an aside i'd love to see wigan get relegated on the back of dave whelan's senile ramblings this week. SSN must love him

From what I heard before he went to talk to Liverpool is he has always wanted to come to us more. Have you ever thought he talked to Liverpool out of respect? I mean if they are interested enough to approach him the least he can do is hear them out and see if their plans match what he wants. It doesn't mean he wanted them more, it just means he's smart and isn't going to commit the next 5 years of his life without talking to other options first.

dont disagree but if more interested in us then he's hidden it well. dave whelan will be livid if he comes to us - he'd be a brilliant pantomine dame at christmas

  6. Dave whelan is having a press conference to discuss the finances of aresnal and announce fergies retirement.

and angela merkel has asked for his opnion on greece then he flies to syria to sort that crisis out. you'd think someone close to him - mrs, kids etc would just tell him to shut up making a fool of himself. i'd love RM to say he hates the old fool

  7. One of the best response and reactions we could surely give to MON is to simply all turn around when he walks onto the pitch, a whole stadium turning our backs on him , like he did to us, would send a huge message.

agreed. or we all do his stupid jump up and down celebration whilst lobbing the v's.

  8. My mates and I are going on our annual golf tour to spain in May and its up tp me to choose the fancy dress theme. Last year we went as a circus so had snake charmer, knife thrower, ringmaster, various animals, strongman, fortune teller, cannonball man (its a brilliant theme for anyone who is looking for inspiration)

So. this year, what can we do

we've got superheroes or charecters from the simpsons as our two ideas at the moment but if anyone can think of anything better let me know.

too many wheres wally, gypsy weddings, etc. looking for something a bit different!

  9. Is it too much to ask to just...have a go?

Like most fans, I'm not in favour of protests etc. But today has proved to me, unequivocally, that we are doomed under Alex McLeish. I kept clinging to the vague hope that things might begin to change, that if we all just show a bit more patience he'll somehow get a system in place and start getting the fans onside. But it will NEVER happen. He is a stubborn, deluded, footballing dinosaur and I'm beginning to physically hate the man.

City were under big pressure to win today with Utd going back on top yesterday. We were the huge underdogs with really nothing to lose. All the Villa fans want is to have a go, for the manager to show just an ounce of belief in his team. Instead we were predictably set up for a 0-0. You just know Eck was delighted at half time hence why nothing changed whatsoever going into the 2nd half. It was painfully obvious that it was only going to be a matter of time before City scored and when they did we seemed content to keep it at a respectable 1-0.

We are without a shred of confidence or ambition on the pitch and at times are seemingly lacking in the most basic technical ability. In possession, we give the ball away in the sloppiest manner all the **** time. When defending, we look nervous as hell.

Playing Heskey in midfield is beyond a joke. Its **** embarrassing. Hutton is an abomination of a right-back. Dunne is past it, Collins nothing but a lump. Albrighton will join the likes of Gardner, Ridgewell and Luke Moore as a graduate of our average at best, Premier league also-rans academy. And Bent might as well be sitting in the Aston Social for 90 minutes for all the service he's getting.

Some people will look at this result and say a 1-0 loss to the best team in the league is no disgrace. I say bullshit. We could've won today. City were comfortable only because we made it so easy for them and offered absolutely no opposition. But we didn't even try, we didn't have a clue.

I'm sick to death of hearing that Villa fans are being out of order to McLeish, that the only reason he is disliked is because of his connections to the other lot. I reckon 99% of Villa fans would take Chris Hughton tomorrow given the chance. It has NOTHING to do with his time at Blues and EVERYTHING to do with his despicable anti-football mentality.

It gets said every week but thank Christ for Wigan, Wolves and Blackburn.

exactly - saved me typing it!!

  10. i think mcleish doesnt know what his best team is and we have too many people to choose from (not sayiong they are world class by any stretch) but we must have 10+ options for 6 midfield and forward spaces at the moment. keane, bent, gabby, ireland, alby, stan, clark, gardener, bannan, n zog, heskey off top of head and he doesnt know which ones to play where.

the defence should be cueller and clarke in the middle as clark isnt cut out for midfield. i dont mind hutton so much if he could cross a ball more consistently, warnck is all over the place still but at least he tries.

for rest of season i'd play

    given

hutton cueller clark ? - stevens / lichaj / herd? or dunne CH and clark LB

    ireland gardener petrov n zog

bent gabby (on basis keane is gone after next two weeks)

  11. if thats the style of a mark hughes team thank god we didnt go for him. awful team last night.

i dont think hutton was as bad as others have made out, he was always the outlet ball at the back and as a right back (not a cultured midfielder) he will occassionally give the ball away. we'd be far worse off if we were hoofing a la james collins every time. keane in the hole makes a massive difference but n zog must stay out wide; first half everyone was in each otehrs way.

good performance, warnock didnt mean to do it and is shot to pieces so booing him only hurts him and us. and when there isnt a ball on going forward i have no issue with it going back across the back four if it brings the opposition out to win it back. better that than a hoof.

clark was poor but at least he's trying to pass it but again, with two holding midfielders in the middle we lack the killer pass forward. starting a game with 6 defending payers at home v qpr means we're going tp be sat back. i dont think it was mcleish's fault on the goals necessarily but equally you cant be shouting attack if your players are set up to defend and nzog was clearly following a tactic to wander around in the middle in the first half rather than stiock to the wing

  12. they had three chances, scored two of them and one in 2nd hald at 1-2 that went across our 6 yard box and someone missed a tap in. the reason we passed from the back??? cuellar not collins. composed, looks for passes inside and didnt miss a tackle tonight, def my MOTM. hutton bar a couple of over hit crosses wasnt bad at all but the big problem (bar keane) is noone knows how to look for space.

especially in first half, we had nzog, ireland keane and bent all in about 10 yards of each other. either nzog was following a bizarre tactic to get in everyine elses way or he is scared of the touchline. we were too narrow and lacking movement but keane makes a huge difference and is bringing out the creative side of ireland who finally has another footballer to pass to.

good game, shouldve won, they were awful - reminded me of cska at home two years ago when it was there first game after a winter break - totally rusty and took only chance. they should go down if it wasnt for worse teams
