The things we tell ourselves to make ourselves feel better.
Quite.

We're currently like a marathon runner coming in in 8th place putting on a sprint finish after the other runners have finished.
Claiming this as vindication is utterly laughable.
Not sure I really follow the analogy.
The IMF has the UK outperforming the EU’s biggest economies until 2026, that’s quite the sprint.

One consistent is the brexit argument hasn't moved on from selective use of details and from being dependent on people sounding out all the rest of the noise. "It's OK, I'm right, I have this one graph."
Selective data selection in this thread. Whod’ve thunk it?! Breaking new ground.

Nice to see the see the argument moving on from “oh it will be an unmitigated disaster” to “oh it would be soooo much better if we were in the EU”.

I may be behind the times but watched the pilot episode of Euphoria last night. Man there was a lot going on!
Nudity, violence, anal sex, drugs, profanity, regular sex, teenagers communicating in a language I barely recognise as English...it made me feel completely past it (and a little nostalgic).
I kind of enjoyed, kind of stressed me out. Does it calm down a bit?

You'll claim your state and live until 400 as well, ya bastard
Fact of the day. If global average life expectancy were to continue to increase at the current rate, then the first person to live to be 200 is already alive today!
SpoilerUnfortunately, not actually true on a practical level. Once you get to 100, your chances of living to be 120 are no better now than they were a century ago.

Not remotely true iirc the maximum party membership reached was 8 million and that was with anyone in a good number of professions having to join to actually get a job (Doctors / Judges / Scientists / Engineers etc). That was never more than 10% of the population Germany
Not convinced by this reckoning. Given that estimates of the size of the german army during the war tops 13 million, these figures would indicate that at least 5 million people were fighting for the Nazi’s but not party members. Does this make them Nazi’s or not?

People only hear what they want to.
I hope that the irony of that comment in response to a video that, quite literally, only shows one side of the debate wasn’t lost on you.

I don't know about you but when I talk to my buddies I don't talk race theory, decide who's African American and spread false information about anti-parasitic drugs, effectiveness of vaccines etc.
For someone who doesn’t discuss those things with his buddies, you sure like to share your opinions about them on the internet!
Why does it bother you so much what other people talk about/listen to?- 1

Honourable mention to this, it still pops into my head at least once a month. Also, as a theme song, if you had never seen an episode of this show and just saw this opening, then you know exactly what the show is about. Perfect!

People who pose a rhetorical question where they are expecting an affirmative answer and end it with "no?"
I cannot put into words how irrationally angry this makes me.
¿I’m assuming you don’t speak Spanish, no?

Minor point that everybody on field and commentary seems to have missed but the Buttler dismissal is really bugging me! If the 3rd umpire deems that the ball hits his toe on his front foot, why is Hawkeye picking up the tracking when it hits his back leg?

An extract from a recent conversation with my 11 year old daughter:
Her: She bought one of those shiny things.
Me: What shiny things?
Her: You know the round shiny things that you put in the radio and they play music.
I think CDs are dead!

Strangely Wood just changed his gloves, and the female commentator said "every time I have seen a player change gloves mid innings they get out".
Spooky premonition…but a weird comment to make in a game where Steve Smith is playing!

Lets not pretend that Mings got done by brilliant forward play yesterday it was just rank bad defending.
So true! It was truly awful. I have no idea what he was trying to achieve. Even if he had successfully ‘rolled’ Lukaku, all it would have achieved is putting Targett (who was under pressure from Pulisic) in the sh*t.

England still need to be batting going in to day 4 to have any chance of salvaging something from this test. Just not going to happen is it.

Actually built in Constantinople (1875)
I was genuinely surprised when I saw this, only because I remember being at a pub quiz about 20 years ago and a fight broke out with people arguing over Glasgow and Budapest (didn’t affect my team of thickos, we’d answered Paris!).
Having looked into this today though, I think if Istanbul had been given as the answer, even I might have joined the fight! A funicular built in 1875 with 2 stops, isn’t a metro system it’s a tunnel! The clue must be that the Turkish called the line Tünel.

In defence of the Telegraph (no doubt a popular stance on here!), they are not telling you what THE problem is, they are trying to explain what Boris’ problem is. They have identified, correctly, 3 areas that have lost traditional Tory votes.
I’d venture that talking about ‘bloated entitlement’ has absolutely zero effect on how a typical Tory voter marks their ballot paper.

How bad must Burns' throwing arm be for him to be an automatic at slip, even though he seems to put down at least one chance per innings?

I take your point about the UK’s covid dip being worse than other nations. How much of that do you attribute to the make up of U.K. economy (service heavy) and how much to not being in the EU? Similarly, from where we stand, how much better do you think those forecasts would be if were still a member? Maybe you can point me to the last time the U.K. outperformed those 3 nations over such a period whilst still a member to give me an idea?
