Doesn't really matter, does it?
In the whole scheme of things....
Yes, it does matter.
First, names are evocative. They summon up memories and feelings. My memories of watching from that stand games which, to me, were important, are nothing at all to do with that useless ****; and I won't have my memories tarnished by his narcissistic and pointless glorification of himself.
Second, the club ought to recognise and respect what matters, what has made it what it is - but without descending into trivial pretend-respect for everything. Naming things appropriately is a small part of that. Naming anything at all after Mr Disasterzone is a sick joke. Doing so at the expense of people who have done something to make the club what it is, is adding insult to injury.
Just an opinion.

With the current share price being just under 4 quid a share, the price is maybe a bit depressed from what it ought to be, if we were less timidly run, had had proper corporate governance and a professional board throughout...
... Villa is so unimaginatively run, and run more for the benefit of Ellis than of the "business" overall.
Yes. But the share price could be a lot higher if we had played to the strengths Ellis inherited, the fan base, the European Cup etc. What an irony that his running of the club in his own interest (safe, staid, unadventurous, keep in the top division but don't spend more than you have to) has depressed the share price below what it should be.
He probably thinks that if the share price is higher than he paid, that means he's done well. What an arse.
His tactics have meant that he can pay himself £500k a year. But the lack of a strategy has meant that his shareholding is worth - what - a half, a quarter of what it could have been worth with good club business management. He's lost himself money, even in his own narrow terms of reference.
Good night, dopey Doug. Time for bed.

ellis realised langham had a clue and a vision...
he had to go...
Exactly. And any strategy worth its name would have to challenge Ellis' role, and move away from what he had been doing for many years. Supporting such an approach would be like Ellis sidelining himself. It seems that even he realised this.

No, never, under any circumstances.

One from the late, great Tommy Cooper:
Man goes into a dentist's, says "You've got to help me".
Dentist: "What seems to be the trouble?"
Man: "I think I'm a moth."
Dentist: "You want a psychiatrist, not a dentist. What did you come in here for?"
Man: "The light was on."

Great stuff on a Blues fans messageboard this evening. They suggest bringing in Sir Blobby to tell Spud what to do (but only because it costs too much to sack him). Oh, and bringing back Clinton Morrison. And Horsfield.

OK, so the local manc opinion is that wenger will throw this game as they don't want to give mancredclowns the phsychological coup of breaking their unbeaten run in game number 50.
Typically arrogant. No wonder people hate Man U supporters so much. Wenger must be pissing himself at this one. The idea that he contrives a loss to someone else because he just knows, deep down, that they will beat him...pass the sick bag.

Went for Pedersen. A triumph of hope over logic, no?

I understand that the only thing now standing in the way of the deal being finalised is to persuade the Queen to abdicate in favour of Doug.
