    Ancelotti – Next Villa Manager?

An anonymous sources is suggesting that ex Chelsea and AC Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti is set to become the new Villa boss within the next week.

The highly rated Italian is apparently top of Villa owner Randy Lerner’s wishlist, and is set for talks this coming week.

Mr Ancelotti has not hid the fact that he would like to stay in English football after his time in London with Chelsea. With Fulham and Villa the only other 2 Premier League teams without a current boss that limits the double winners choices.

The Italian is said to be staying in a hotel close to Villa’s training groud at Bodymoor Heath from Monday.

As stated above this is from a unconfirmed but usually reliable source. The same person gave AVillaFan the information of Martin O’Neil’s departure 48hours before it was confirmed. However, I will still advise to take this information with a pinch of salt until anything comes directly from the club.

  2. Downing has two years remaining of his current contract but he has reiterated his stance of not wanting to commit to longer at this juncture.

He said: 'My agent had a meeting with the club - just one meeting - and he just felt it was the right time not to sign my contract.

'I've still got two years to go, so I've still got a long time to go, so I just decided to leave it as it is.

'Will I be at Villa next season? I'm not sure.

'I mean, we had the meeting with the club, we expressed our feelings and they said to me they're going to improve the team and the squad.

'So, as far as I know, I'll still be reporting back for pre-season because I've heard nothing.'

Downing maintains he will continue to be totally committed to Villa should he remain even if fans have been upset at his current stance.

He said: 'You hope they do (understand) but normal fans will want you to stay at their club for the rest of your life. If you do leave there's obviously a bit of bitterness there.

'You hope they do understand because, it's like any job, if there's a better job on hand, or a better level to do it, then people do it.

'If I don't move and I stay, I'll get on with the job as normal. I'll do my best and give 100%.

'It's up to their fans and their opinions of me. If they want to be loud and clear with what they think of me, then that's fine.

'I'll still give my best because I'm employed to do so.'

If i dont move ... and bitterness if a player leaves

WELL downing u are a joke - gone from fan fav to a real dickhead in a few weeks!!!! Its obvs he wants out and looks like is agent been talking to clubs , with Ash going wat a start to the summer :)

  3. However, if he is frustrated in his desire to depart for a fresh challenge, he insists he will emulate Gareth Barry's professionalism by giving his all to the side until permitted to move. Asked whether he expected to start next season at Villa Park, Downing said: "I'm not sure. My agent had a meeting with the club and he just felt it wasn't the right time to sign my contract. I've still got two years to go, so I've still got a long time to go. So I just decided to leave it as it is. We expressed our feelings, and they said to me they're going to improve the team and the squad. So, as far as I know, I'll still be reporting back for pre-season because I've heard nothing."

Much could yet depend on the identity of Houllier's successor and the level of squad re-building pursued over the summer. "If I don't move and I stay, I'll get on with the job as normal," he said. "I'll do my best and give 100%. If the fans want to be loud and clear with what they think of me, then that's fine. I'll still give my best because I'm employed to do so. But all players want to play at the highest level and in the biggest competitions. With England as well, all the top players play in good teams. I'm no different. You just want the best for your career. You want to finish with medals at the end of it so I'm ready for the step up.

"You sit and watch the Champions League at home, and listen to that music come on, and you see the teams and think: 'That's where I want to be.' It's the pinnacle. It's the best. It's the best standard with the best players. I'm no different. I'm sure other players are the same as well. It would be nice to do that one day."

I am really shocked by Downing WTF!!!!! .

  4. David Moyes is a great manager ... hes a players manager ie a man manager ..gets the best out of player , you can say he hasnt won anything -- but did get Everton to the champions league without spending big money (yes went out but) ... also a FA cup final ... Moyes would be class at villa with the backing of Randy!!

  5. Mark Hughes for me.

Agree ,, also think randy likes hughes alot ..

    Sven No chance!!!!

Moyles - think will still at Everton

    Rafa - not for me

    Jol - woundnt mind

Coyle - also woundnt mind - but prob wont leave Bolton

    Hughes - for me yes.

  6. I think Randy will go for Hughes.. with there being no compo to pay according to this - just think Randy likes hughes! .

He signed a one-year contract at the end of last summer, with the option for another 12 months, and there has been some debate as to whether he would carry on with the Premier League club, especially as others are sniffing around him.

Hughes is turning into a man in demand and Fulham need to get a move on.

Aston Villa might come calling, should it be mutually agreed that Gerard Houllier, who was released from hospital on Thursday, will not carry on following his latest health problems. Bayern Munich looked at him and Chelsea could even be interested, especially if they want a younger man to work alongside a director of football.

After Wednesday’s impressive 3-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers, Fulham are ninth in the table, which is a hugely impressive achievement for Hughes given the injury crisis he has faced.

They are an upwardly-mobile team again and it seems that one of the guarantees the 47-year-old Welshman has been given is that substantial funds – £20million has been mentioned – will be made available this summer. That would convince Hughes of the club’s ambitions and that they match his own.

He has bought well so far, in acquiring Carlos Salcido and Moussa Dembele. Beyond that Hughes does not want to gain a reputation as a manager who moves around too much while, at the same time, wanting to ensure he and the club he manages are going forward.

It was claimed that Hughes signed a two-year deal last year but it’s understood there is a break allowing him to leave at the end of this campaign without compensation.

The likelihood of Europa League football at Craven Cottage, via the Fair Play League, is another fillip for Fulham, who are probably pinching themselves at their luck in securing Hughes in the first place.

The length and terms of a new deal are yet to be decided but it’s understood that Hughes is, in principle, willing to stay.

  7. General this is not all fair on you, but you are the go between the fans and Randy .... surly with the banner and the Holte end singing this is time to act, yes we hav only 8 games to go but surly bringing in kev mac will lift the players fans and get us the few wins we need to stay up... then in the summer urself , paul and randy can get the rite man in.

    the fans hav spoken!!!!

  8. A manager who is already in the Premiership at the moment. He'll fully understand what it takes to play in this league. Not someone who has to play catch up, which is partially where Randy has gone wrong by appointing GH. For me, Coyle, Moyes, Hughes or, as an outsider, Lambert.

AS a outsider u say lambert but dont like my one hughton... why?

  9. Gen you say urself & Randy love the Villa .... time to prove this and sack GH ASAP. is conments after the game are a joke, the swearing between warnock and the staff joke , the waving to the kop & not us joke, GH = JOKE, This is a David Oleary all over again .... we need rid before GH waste money on some overrate france players (Cisse).

the fans are the life of villa

and the fans have spoken - will we be heard????

  10. Hi Gen sorry for all the post ur getting , but the board has got to hold their hands up and admit they got it wrong really wrong . For GH to come out after the game and wave to the kop and ignore the villa fans is a disgrace ... and the interview when he said - "It's difficult to say but I prefer to lose 3-0 to Liverpool because I like Liverpool." WHAT A JOKE!!!!!

Martin Jol is free .... tell Randy to try get him ASAP .

How long before the holte end sings MON'S name???? - not far off it trust me!!
