  1. well i'm back from work, that was the longest shift ever after the totally deflating afternoon watching the game. it gave me some time to reflect though... we will bounce back from this next week i am sure. for one thing the players will want to go some way to make up to the fans who paid £48 to watch them today. the players will be a whole lot more embarassed about this than any of us fans are and will want to rectify it. we will go to bolton next week and win and then be out for revenge in the semi final.

to all those saying MON should be sacked i really don't know what to say, it would be a ridiculous decision to sack him and i think things are being said in the heat of the moment. we arent out of this yet (and although i don't think we will finish 4th), we will be within touching distance of the top four at the end of the season.

a week's rest now will be key for most of the team and we will see where we stand before the bolton game.

i was devestated, but it isn't the most upsetting loss we have suffered in recent years... old trafford last season and doncaster in the carling cup under DOL (which somebody mentioned) come to mind immediately.

also i would just like to say massive respect for the fans who went today and were singing til the end, you did us all proud.

  2. it has just been so deflating. we haven't turned up second half and that fact has been taken advantage of by a very good side. we need to remember this, that chelsea are a great side and they do rip teams apart more often than man united do.

we need this week to take a bit of time out, pick ourselves up and get right back into our season next week at bolton.

  3. if james needs a rest i think tonight would be one of the best games to do so in to be honest, we need him on saturday if we are to get anything at the bridge.

Surely it should be the reverse of that?

in my opinion we have enough other quality players to be able to beat sunderland, but we need arguably our best player in order to get anything against chelsea.

  4. if gabby is out i would start carew and heskey, but DEFINITELY bring the fonz on at h/t if we are anything less than two goals in front. he needs at least 45 minutes to have a proper go. heskey did score against sunderland in december though and seeing as his goals are such a rare occurence i think he should be given a go against this defence again.

  5. didn't see the wolves game as i was travelling at the time, but from what i've read on here he wasn't great. and in all the games since burnley he hasn't looked very confident at all. he played well against burnley, but we can't have one good performance per month.

NB. i like downing, and expect him to improve a lot next season, i was just saying in relation to this match.
