Thats how you play against these anti footballing thugs , outpass and outclass them , show the poor home fans some real football...

And the best thing is , the crosser are good , accurate crosses and not hit and hope balls into the box. And its all coming from great approach play.

Is this Aston Villa I am watching or Bayern Munich?

Thanks , i guess first class is what we call "A" or 7.0 and above CGPA out of 10 points. Thanks
I have a 7.2 CGPA in my Engineering BS course so I guess I would have a 2:1 going by the approximations.
-
Yeah its a huge %
I made the mistake of thinking a 1st would be a's all the way through, a 2:1 b's a desmond c's etc
But a 2:1 is more or less anything from a high b down to a middle c at my uni
I am familiar with three systems of grading
1) 4 point GPA scale(used in the US)
2) A 10 point cumulative GPA scale
3) A straightforward "percentage" system , where your overall marks in all the courses is totalled and divided by the total available marks in those courses , multiplied by 100.
I don't understand your system :|
I have to decide which universities to apply but I have yet to figure out the system.
-
I already read the wikipedia article , all it says is that a 2:1 means a "Second class honours" , which again is ambiguous How much is second class honours in terms of overall percentage out of 100, using a rough approximation? About 70 % would be right?

Was checking University of Manchester's entry requirements for a post graduate taught course(MSc) for Environmental Science and saw "Applicants should have a good first degree (minimum 2:1 or equivalent)". Now I have not the slightest idea what "2:1" means , being a non native.
Can someone explain please?

The Club is pleased to confirm that it has secured the appointment of Gerard Houllier as manager.
I seriously wonder which bit of the above statement people are failing to understand. It's not written in French, German or Serbo Croat, its not a paraphrase from a cheap red top news paper, it's not something that a mate of a mate heard while having a piss, it's not some update in CM / FM. What it is is a quote taken from the OS, i.e. a direct quote form the club.
Just because the terms of his "transfer" are that he needs to complete a couple of tasks that will seemingly take a day or so, so bloody what? There are no urgent transfers to conduct (and MON certainly screwed us there the twunt!), we are out of the UEFA cup ( a cup that GH has won and MON treated with utter contempt - along with the fans). We have a tough match on Monday (somewhere that MON never won - and many good managers have seen their teams lose), the best prep for which will be to get someone who knows the team 100% to sort things out while loose ends are sorted and commitments that could not be broken are honoured. Honour - hmm a word I wonder if the last manager actually understands - rather than just dropping his employers in the shit.
As for his assistant, I suppose the beer bill at VP will be a lot lower now
This , 100 times over.

Who knows , we could have the great Didi Hamann as his no 2 and I will be ecstatic with that. Hamann was looking to get into management anyway.
-
^^ Exactly , the way its going , they might as well relinquish all control to the fans , let the fans appoint the manager , buy players , rub everything seeing as they get pilloried and crucified for whatever decision they make. They just cannot win.

Were basically being laughed at and I can't really understand how a CEO has allowed this to happen, it seems like AVFC are bending over sideways for Houllier, though this is a guy who has not managed for so many years, we give him a chance but he still has obligations, well I'm sorry Gerard if that's the case you can stay there for me! You know what I really feel for KMac, he works his arse of gets told to apply for the job when they had no intention of giving it to him, we may be sitting 4th but we are stuffed, to not have signed a contract is well and truly disgraceful!
Its not like he was short of offers you know. He is an internationally recognised name , well respected in the game and you make it sound as if Villa are doing him a favour.
Yeah, we should have given it to KMac , what a fantastic appointment it would have been. We would be setting Europe on fire seaason after season.

I'm very much undecided on Ged, so Yes, he very much has to "win" me, and numerous others, over.
I'd rather he win trophies and take the club forward.
Just out of curiosity , what was your reaction when O'Neill was appointed. Were you as undecided, considering his CV is lighter?

At this moment in time, is he not correct?
For the last three weeks, these boards have been full of people making the same prediction for this season. We have not strengthened and have lost one of our more influential players, whilst others around us have strengthened.
In the case of Liverpool having a better team, no I really think that statement is incorrect.
Worth mentioning they have added Joe Cole, he's a great player but not the answer to the problems at Liverpool.
I would have a serious expectation that we should be competing with / finishing higher than Liverpool. The likes of spurs and man city are ahead of Liverpool and I could accept they have better teams than us, but not Liverpool.
Of course the whole statement is based losely on a crap biased google translation and probalby doesn't reflect what was actually meant at all, at least I hope not.
Liverpool have a squad that is miles ahead of us in terms of technical ability. I mean , lets not kid ourselves here. Last season was an absolute disaster for them , that is why Rafa went.
we have a squad that is adequate and competitive but these are no world beaters , lets be honest.
8th is about our level , the yard stick , anything above it will be a bonus this season , considering the circumstances.
-
Using google translation on the whole article and then trying to literally interpret the **** up mess of a translation to use it against GED is a pathetically petty attempt to tarnish his reputation even before he starts his new job, well done fella.
Why has the shit-stirrer olb not been banned yet , considering the single minded determination with which he has set about this task of undermining and criticising the new manager? He clearly has an agenda.
-
186 votes and a 90% approval rating.
There's not a politician in the free world who has ever received 90%
Exactly , as always it is the naysayers, shit-stirrers and the perennially constipated who are the most vocal protesters here , while the silent majority have cast their ballot.
GED leading 234(yes)-19(no) Villa fans , always fair , always sound 8)
welcome Gerard , hope you forget your Liverpool loyalties soon

Too bad there is no more European Football this season. I think the team would have progressed far under him in the Europa League. Not be though.
-
You say his previous record doesn't count and he'll be judged by his performances here, then you say you are worried about his previous record and he might not be up to it.
Make your mind up. In case you did not notice the contradiction in your post.
Once he's appointed then I'm sure he get that and he'll be judged on what he does with us not on his past record. Until then some fans (like me) will look at his previous record an worry that he's not going to do a good job with us. -
There's something about English football and its fans. Sometimes we are our own clubs worst nightmare. It's one thing to be passionate about ones club, but being so passionate that no single person can ever be deemed good enough is downright harmful. The board have obviously talked to the man, yet we who in most cases haven't even seen him in the flesh write him off based on a record that, on paper, is pretty good. Insane and tragic and it certainly does effect the club negatively even if some people refuse to acknowledge that and claim that " it goes with the territory".

Yeah , that will be fantastic.
I hope the his detractors will be happy with Curbishley , setting the PL on fire.
