  1. That's hardly fair. He's only had two injuries, they were just unfortunately bad ones. Suffered ligament damage from a bad tackle in 2007 and then had to undergo knee surgery last summer. Other than those, he's had no problems, and hasn't shown any recurrences of those serious injuries either. So grouping him in with genuinely injury prone players like King and Woodgate is just wrong.
  2. Best signing Spurs can make this summer is getting Bale onto lucrative five year contract. That ought to be enough to deter Ferguson for a couple of years. However, unlike Berbatov, Bale seems to love it at Spurs and if he's playing regularly and in this kind of form, he should have no reason to leave any time soon, especially when you bear in mind that he's only 20 years old. Unless he fancies winning a league title Pfft, those things are a dime a dozen nowadays. The real glory is challenging for the Carling Cup and the qualifying rounds of the Champion's League. Plus, Man Utd can't afford the kind of price Levy will demand for him, so.

  4. Spurs were without Corluka, Woodgate, Palacios and Lennon, though. Plus Huddlestone and Defoe not being fully fit. Come on, man, Spurs have been without several key players for the whole season. When Spurs lost to Arsenal earlier in the season, they were without Woodgate, Dawson, Bale, Modric, Kranjcar, Lennon, Huddlestone and Defoe.
  5. To be honest, I agree with this. The squad that Redknapp inherited was massively underachieving. Ramos should've at least had us in the top 10, regardless of circumstances. The fact that Spurs were bottom when Redknapp took over was much more a slur an Ramos' abilities than the quality of Spurs' team. All Redknapp has done so far is removing the damage that Ramos caused. Spurs are currently where they were when Jol was in charge, ie top six, challenging top four. If Redknapp does guide us to fourth place this season then I think it's very fair to say he's done a fantastic job, considering the ridiculous amount of injuries Spurs have been plagued with all season.
  6. Every game is available on DVD from the club shop within hours of the match, usually. It's just the big wins that are available more widely online. Do you think there are going to be many people wanting to go online to order a copy of the 0-1 match to Wolves? No, but there are people out there that weren't able to go to the match, or maybe they did go to the match that would like to relive the match again at their own leisure. If there's a market for it, what's the problem? It's just one of the reasons that adds up to Spurs being one of the wealthiest clubs in the world.
  7. Yeah, he was. Gomes was phenomenal, though. If it weren't for him, we could've quite easily conceded four or five goals in the second half.
  8. That's exactly what I've said all along! It's better for football for either Spurs or Villa to finish 4th than for City or Liverpool.
  9. There's something quite familiar about your posts, isn't there? Who needs new discussions and debates when you can just repeat the same post fifteen times even though nobody actually cares, right? Even the Villa fans that hate Spurs aren't acknowledging your posts anymore.
  10. Also, that "GlastonSpur" Twitter account is quite clearly the work of a VillaTalk member with waaay too much time on their hands, considering almost all of that account's followers are Villa fans and members of this forum. Also, Vojskovoda, I've called you out a few times now on the bullshit you've spewed about Spurs and you've conveniently ignored those posts. Nobody cares what you think about Spurs. You can moan at GlastonSpur all you want, but you get so much more "facts" skewed about Spurs than he does. The rest of you, as far as I'm concerned, can rip on Spurs all you want, as long as it's true. Yes, you guys do have a longer and more lucrative history. Not gonna dispute that. Yes, today (yesterday, I guess) was a poor result for Spurs, feel free to rip on that too. I've said numerous times that I like Villa fans and I do like talking football with you guys. It's really not worth arguing about the same things over and over again. We're all football fans, we all love our clubs. That's why debates are worth having, so we can see things from other people's points of view.
  11. I went out on the lash with my accumulator (sp? bit drunk right now) winnings!
  12. Exactly. And I have a sneaking feeling that is £60 in the bank.
  13. To be fair, with no Corluka, King, Woodgate or Dawson plus a 19 year old right back making only his second start and a completely untried central defence pairing, they were always going to concede goals, especially with Palacios playing with an injury and trying to avoid his 10th yellow card. I don't think Spurs really had a chance today with the amount of injury problems they have. Anything other than a loss would have been massive, considering the circumstances. Oh well, though. All good runs come to an end. I'd only predicted a draw in this match, so a win against either Chelsea or Arsenal would be leave Spurs in a better position than I'd expected, or a draw at Old Trafford would make up for the point lost today. Never watched the game but it was apparently a poor showing from most of the Spurs players today, hopefully that'll be a punch in the face that they'll need to pull a big result in the next few weeks. And City are on now so they'll either win and net me £60 on my accumulator or they will drop points which will be good for Spurs. I'll win and lose, either way.
  14. As has been pointed out several times before, a large proportion of Villa's trophies were won in the Victorian era, when the league structure was tiny and most of today's clubs, including Spurs, were not even in it. In the majority of each of the decades since then Villa have won fewer trophies than Spurs - thus your claim that Villa have "been the superior club for 86 out of your 128 years" is partisan nonsense. Ohhh, you shouldn't have gone and said that. You ought to just let it go. I've found people here are much more friendly when talking about the here and now than the past. Plus, you can't deny that they are technically correct. A league win is a league win, regardless of when and how it was achieved.
  15. No. But he's certainly much better than certain ignorant, blinded-by-hatred seem to think/believe/hope.
  16. You seriously talk some shit, fella. Point number 1, Assou-Ekotto didn't go to the ACN. He was injured. Point number 2, Bale was carrying an injury at the start of the season. Point number 3, Assou-Ekotto was in great form at left back for Spurs before his injury, hence Bale's lack of opportunity. Point number 4, Bale has played left midfield recently due to injuries to Lennon, Bentley, Jenas, Huddlestone and Palacios. Forcing both of our regular left midfielders in Modric and Kranjcar to move to the centre and right, respectively. Point number 5, Spurs have only conceded 11 goals since Bale broke into the team earlier in the year. 4 of those goals came after his move into left midfield. And none of the other 7 came from attacks down the Spurs' left side. Point number 6, he's 20 years old. That's like me saying Fabregas, Gerrard, Lampard and Essien are all streets ahead of Fabian Delph. Plus, Cole and Clichy were shit defenders at that age, Bale's better defensively at the moment than they were. Bale's better defensively than he was six months ago. He'll be even better defensively six months from now. Point number 7, he missed six months of his first season due to ligament damage. He then missed the first three months of this season after having to have a knee operation. That's nine months out with injuries in two year. Do you know what that does to the development of a young player? You can throw as many insults as you want at Spurs fans but the simple truth is your irrational hatred of Spurs has made you more delusional about them than any Spurs fan could try to be. Seriously, at least try to get some of your facts right before you spew your bile.
  17. Is Young doing well, then? Whenever I've spoken to my Villa mate, he's always slamming Young, saying he's not been the same player this season. Is that not the general consensus? The rest of your team, if based on this season's performance alone, I'd find it hard to not include Bale, simply because he's pretty much been man-of-the-match in every game he's played in the last three months. And, to be honest, I'd go with Carew over Agbonlahor based solely on the fact that, whenever I look at Villa's results recently, Carew always seems to be on the scoresheet.
  18. I'm sorry, but that's complete hypocritical bullshit coming from you. In the posts I've read of your's you've claimed at some point or other that the following players are crap and/or vastly overrated: Gomes Corluka King Woodgate Dawson Assou-Ekotto Lennon Huddlestone Bentley Crouch And those are just the ones I've read and remembered. I'd imagine there are a few more crap Spurs players that I've just not read. I agree that on the whole, Villa fans judge players on their ability rather than their feelings to the club they're playing for. But you are an exception to that rule.
  19. Rubbish. Villa play attacking football with the back four and Petrov defending, the idea that we just defend with the whole team is daft. Really? I've seen Villa a few times this season, twice against Spurs, and each time Villa have defended in two banks of four and then launched counter attacks with Young and Agbonlahor. Admittedly, you watch them more, but that's just what I've seen. Especially against Spurs. Admittedly we are shit against Spurs but all managers have managers they don't have the better of! like Moyes, never beat O'Neill in 7 attempts either. We're quite attacking although admittedly we don't really have a ball winner so we do tend to sit back and let teams have the ball more. I wouldn't call us a defensive team though. We just work extremely hard, too hard and you can tell, we struggle late on in almost every game and later on in seasons. Ah, I see. It's a bit like Spurs a couple years ago, before Palacios joined. Just without the "work extremely hard" part.
  20. Rubbish. Villa play attacking football with the back four and Petrov defending, the idea that we just defend with the whole team is daft. Really? I've seen Villa a few times this season, twice against Spurs, and each time Villa have defended in two banks of four and then launched counter attacks with Young and Agbonlahor. 21. The goalkeeper is considered part of the defence, is he not? So now you've gone from saying that Gomes is awful to saying that Gomes is the sole reason why Spurs have the second best defensive record in the league? And you could replace Friedel with Carson and and your team wouldn't suffer? By that logic, it is YOU that is saying that Gomes is better than Friedel. Use your head, fella.
  22. Gomes has conceded 29 league goals this season. The second best record in the Premier League. Gomes has made more saves than any other goalkeeper in the league this season. Gomes went 480 minutes without conceding a goal this season. The second best record in the Premier League. Last season Gomes went 678 minutes without conceding a goal. The best record in the Premier League last season. Last season Gomes conceded only 10 goals at home in the Premier League (considering he was "shit" for six months). The best home record in the Premier League last season. Yeah, I can see why you think he's crap. EDIT: By the way, I'm not starting a debate about Gomes > Friedel, just pointing out to those who can't see it that Gomes is actually one of the very best keepers in the league. Yeah but he looks like this guy Therefore your argument is invalid. He looks more like this guy
  23. 1. That's a pretty stupid point, don't you think? You had the best defence. You no longer do. Even before last weekend, Spurs still had the third best defensive record, so Villa's capitulation doesn't take anything away from that. 2. Yet they've still got the second best defensive record. In a team that is also the fourth highest scorers. Spurs play attacking, unlike Villa who have a whole team to defend for them. Spurs have the back four and Palacios, so teams are obviously going to have more shots against us. The point still remains though that Gomes saves more shots than any keeper in the league. 3. Can you read? I quite BLATANTLY said I wasn't comparing Gomes and Friedel. Seriously. I did. Go back and read it before you get all pissy about me attacking your beloved goalkeeper.
  24. Gomes has conceded 29 league goals this season. The second best record in the Premier League. Gomes has made more saves than any other goalkeeper in the league this season.
