The bookies will still offer odds on OGS because it's an opportunity for them to take money off people!
-
The end of the day, we never offered him a job, he's just decided for whatever reasons that he no longer wishes to be one of the people we're considering. It's not Lerner's fault, it's not Faulkner's fault, it's not anyone at Villa's fault. It's just one of those things.
Gutted, but difficult to be angry. I think the major issue with all of this is that we genuinely have little idea of anyone who's got the ability to have the level of backing that OGS had can step into the fray now. Going to be a big win for a "second choice" to come in as the fans would have les patience with them to turn things around.
I think it's a positive that we've considered OGS as it shows a desire to form a "new era".
Onwards and upwards, I hope.

Oh come on please. My gf is giving me grief for sitting here reading this instead of paying any attention to her. Is he coming or not? Because if you don't tell me I definitely won't be coming tonight.
-
WHAAAAAAAT!!!!!
-
Right.... got back to Leeds. What have I missed?
-
Christ it's going to be a long drive back to Leeds tonight
-
I think if anything he'll manage Molde through their next two matches and move to Villa on 1st June. It would be too disruptive (and a bit pointless with it being the quietest time of the year) for him to move sooner.
-
It's referred to as the Premier League pretty much everywhere outside the UK I think.
-
If it's announced whilst he's still in Norway then the jet might get dispatched. If he's coming over for more talks and negotiations, he'll probably just get on a scheduled flight.
-
You could have just logged on here and got the answer. Next thing you know you'll be wearing an anorak and spending time poring over the Argos catalogue discussing the merits of each thermos flask. With yourself.

I really hope Liverpool get Martinez
The meltdown amongst their fanbase would be great viewing
The Plop job is a poisoned chalice IMO. The manager's walking in to a job with expectations from fans that exceed those of the Villa by about 50 times, and a playing squad that's either too old, or too shit. Recipe for disaster I reckon. If Martinez takes it I reckon he'll be Hodgson Mk II.

"Informed by one of my plane spotting colleagues that Randy Lerner's jet landed in Birmingham 20 minutes ago."
Rough translation of Father Abraham...
"TT on Villatalk posted Lerner back in Birmingham"
LOL I just saw that and thought exactly the same thing.

Yeah, look OGS wants to manage Manchester United eventually, 99% of our players would play for Manchester United if they were offered the chance. Right now he has zero chance of it. Franky unless he manages to get us into the CL then that chance remains pretty much zero. Win/win.
Disagree, because he is a legend at that club he will not have to achieve as much here as another manager would.
I hope he doesn`t come in and sign a load of man utd reserves either.
But who knows, maybe he will grow an affection for aston villa and never want to leave. He seems like that type.
OGS was United's player.
OGS can be Villa's manager. All this talk of him buggering off is pointless IMHO. If he makes a massive success of it at VP then maybe he'd want to stay round like SAF has and build his own empire and legacy. Maybe Man Utd's star would be waning by then and they needed revitalising. Who knows?
Let's concentrate on the now.

I just have one request.
Can Villa please send a paramedic round to Mantis' house just before they announce the news because he's either going to slit his wrists if it's not OGS, or go into some frenzied epileptic seizure if it is. Either way - medical treatment needed.

OGS vote from me. I think after the last two appointments the club has got a lot of rebuilding to do and it's the perfect opportunity to get someone in with a longer term plan and a fresh approach. If Lambert got the job, our opponents would just watch videos of Norwich from last year. With OGS I think it would be a lot harder for them to predict what was going to happen.
-
Whatever the outcome, I think the ink will be dry on the paperwork before the story hits the public domain.

I'm not sure if it's more fun reading this thread via a mission to wreck your keyboard's F5 button or leave it 3 hours, neck a bottle of vino, and come back to read the latest updates.
So my take is this - Southampton fans are rocket polishers (fully agree, almost my most hated team in the world - they'll get to number 1 if they sign John Terry), OGS is coming to Villa because 3 people on Twitter say so, and I need to be scared of knowing the unknown knows, because I won't know that I don't know what the unknowns are although if I did know then they'd be known unknowns making them known and therefore not unknown. Or something.
Just f**king tell me when OGS signs. Please.
-
If they appoint Lambert I can only wish that the whole OGS thing hadn't happened. I'd have been perfectly happy with that choice before OGS, now I just think it's boring and a cop-out
-
I don't think Martinez would get us relegated, but conversely I don't think he'd transform the club which is what we really need right now.
Martinez/Lambert = evolution. OGS = revolution.
-
Thursday is Molde's next game, followed by Monday I think.
-
Trees said he would inform us if Randy's jet flew in today.
-
Solskjær says to NRK today that he turned down to talk to several PL clubs during the last week including teams far higher up the table than Villa. All the right comments from OGS, keep them comming!
This for me is one of the big positives of OGS - we need a manager who WANTS to manage us. I get the impression that for Lambert, Martinez, Rodgers et al it would be more a case of "yeah OK I'll give it a go I suppose".
The fact he's turned down other offers, and like everyone else I'd be interested to see who they were from, suggests that he's not just interested in managing in the PL for the sake of it but interested in managing the right club. Clearly, for whatever reason, that appears to be Villa.
-
Highly disappointed. The teams didn't come back out onto the pitch accompanied by some Norwegian black metal soundtrack.
-
I originally picked Lambert, but the introduction of OGS as an option changed my view. Huge gamble for the club but it looks like a positive one.
General Next Manager Topic?? (everything other than Lambert)

This, sadly.
