NRC is younger than McCann and already better than he has ever been. Add to that NRC has the ability to develop further...
I hope Villa buy him because he will improve under MON and the team will improve with him in the squad.
-
I'd say to West Ham fans they should remember his performances to get them promoted! They seem to forget way too easily!
NRC is going to be excellent for Villa!!
Without Tevez they would´ve gone down..easy as that! NRC will be great!
-
OK. Let's recap on what we will most likely buy:
GK
RB
CB
D/CM
CF
Putting the 555 pages behind us, do you all think that's what MON is thinking at the moment?
It is not far from the truth...
However...it might be someone more versatile that can play two places. It seems as we are looking for a central midfielder and a striker first...
-
i mean real quality center backs
Every player is available for the right price...
Give £300m for Terry and he´ll be at VP yesterday...
-
who we gonna sign at the back then i think we need cover all the way across
I can't see past Luke Young for right back because he would only be about £2m, Lahm would be nice but I don't think we're gonna spend £10m on a right footed left back to play right back when we have so many other positions to fill. But then again we are looking at goalkeepers valued at around £8m when we already have Denmark's No.1 so it may be possible.
Denmark No1 didnt look that good tonight. He wasnt responsible for goals but he didnt do good for himself...I think he was really bad...and lucky at times...and that after conceding 3 goals within 26 first minutes!
-
klose is at werder bremen (i think)and Podolski is at B.Munich so not much chance of either Im afraid.
Perfectly right...my wrong...sorry.
-
what about the two german strikers how much would they be is it klose and podolski ? not sure who they play for but they looked really good at the wc
Werder Bremen...Podolski isnt for sale and if he were I guess any team would have to pay £50m for him. He is the brightest star in Germany alongside Schweinsteiger.
Klose? Stuttgart?
-
how about a £20m deal for m owen and s parker that would have been a good deal
Well...if we get Reo-Coker and Defoe for smaller than that I stick with them really. As it is now Defoe is a better striker than Owen. Reo-Coker and Parker is almost the same...
I like everyone of them...but I hold Defoe and Reo-Coker as the better pair. :winkold:
-
We are defo signing Defoe because"My dog knows a man, who knows another dog, and the other dog saw Defoe in Sutton Park".
How many of your 250 posts are serious? I´ve seen a lot of "shit" from you lately and maybe it is because you´re bored or something. I do feel that you could do better...and I hope to see it soon.
-
I like Defoe a lot...I hope we get him!
-
i thought hargreaves was one of our best players at the world cup. at least he has grit and determination
Wow, he was our best player for about 4 games! Without the world cup, even at inflated prices he would be £10m tops.
He has been Englands best player in many games...not only those four. If you have a look at what he has done both for England and for Bayern Munich you can easily say he has quality.
I think that Alex Ferguson is a better man to judge him...and he clearly thinks he is worth £20m...and he has been hunting him as eagerly as he was hunting van Nistelrooy. When Ferguson sees class...he needs to buy him..whatever the price. I think that many managers would say that he is worth somewhere close to that figure...and I agree.
-
Bellamy is not worth £10m...never! I dont want him at Villa and if he comes I hope that MON doesnt pay more than £5-6m tops!
Hargreaves...well...he was without any doubt Englands best player in the World Cup. He is worth £20m easy because he is a proven quality player and his skills is there for everyone to see. He is class...I wish we had him really because he works harder than the most in midfield and he has a very good vision of play. I enjoyed watching him in WC!
You can feel that it is crazy money to spend but if you want to win trophies Hargreaves is the kind of player you need to pay much for...
Clubs can pay £10-15m for players that have potential but you can never be sure about the quality they will end up with. Hargreaves is a finished product and one of the best in the world on his position. The midfield in Man U will benefit hugely from Hargreaves and it will be hell to meet them next season with C.Ronaldo, Hargreaves, Scholes, Nani....
-
There is a LOT of quality goalies in Europe so there is no need to pay that kind of money for Gordon...he aint that good!
-
SWP would be great...he is class...and yet not shown his full potential!
-
News from BBC say that Wigan is hot for Bramble...so it looks that we miss out on this player too...
Also..Everton has supposedly pulled the plug out of any deal with Barton because they cant match his wage demands. Probably that leaves Villa and Newcastle to go head to head for his signature.
I would love to get both Barton and Reo-Coker...
Nice midfield with Petrov, Barton, Reo-Coker, Barry or in a five man midfield with Young as a winger. I would be quite pleased with that...
-
GK- C.Gordon
RB- G.Johnston
CB- C.Davies
CM- N.reo- coker
LW-H.Kewell
CF- J.defoe
that would be a good summer with 2 more surpise buys from MON .Any one be happy about that
The amount of players is ok, but I would like to see even more high profile players.
Reo-Coker and Defoe would be my top choice of that list.
-
Ok sparky, heres the deal.
Out : Samuel (free), Hendrie (free), DJDJ (0.5 M), Davis (4 M), Ridgewell (2M), McCann (1M), Sutton (released).
Hughes may stay as cover.Delaney offered pay as you play.Olly and Luke to be offered new contracts.Sorensen offered short term deal to fight for his place. I know others have left but not really affecting first team squad.
In : Gordon (6M), Finnan (2M), Ben Haim (free), Reo Coker (8M), Sneijder (10M), Fred (9M).
Money out 35M money in 7.5M Net spend 27.5M
Squad : Gordon, Sorensen, Taylor.
Defence : Finnan, Mellberg, Laursen, Ben Haim, Cahill, Bouma, Hughes, Delaney, O'Halloran.
Midfield : Young, Petrov, Reo Coker, Sneijder, Barry, Berger, Gardner, Maloney, Osbourne.
Strikers : Carew, Fred, Agbonglahor, Moore.
There you go, a well balanced first team squad. With plenty of youth and experience. Also plenty of players who can cover many positions and would keep a strong first eleven who ever was in.
A feasonable amount of money spent with feasonable exciting and steady new playesr purchased.
Europe, here we come!
Am I missing something, who the hell is Fred?
Fred is a Brazilian striker playing for Lyon in France. A very skillful striker.
He is one of the latest to be linked with Villa...probably a good friend to Carew. :winkold:
-
He is something special...
That was a special goal, but let's not ever buy a keeper from the french league, cos on most of the videos put up so far, they look like a bag of spanners.
That is not true...
France has a load of very good goalkeepers and one that comes to mind is Landreu. Barthez wasnt that bad when he was in his peak. It is quite unfair to judge goalies on Youtube vids that is made to give credit to strikers... :winkold:
-
He is something special...
Carew has his size and weight...Fred would be a wonderful compliment because he seems to be more complete striker. He is very good at heading and has a great shot from outside area. he is quick.
Carew is a fighter and he is quick too...it would be a lovely pair to watch...
-
I understand that your a pessimistic person who worries to much and accept that point of view and your concern, but to me it is laughable, you just have to accept that opinion and move on.
This shows what kind of boy you are... You are quite laughable...to me...
I give up...there is no use spending time trying to explain things to people that dont want to understand.
-
tricella, chill.
We have until August 31st 2007 11.59pm.
After that if you aren't happy, feel free to crucify the board, we'll let you say whatever you want about them (within reason :winkold: )
Chill? Why? Because some people cant handle my thoughts?
I will never crucify the board of Aston Villa FC with Lerner and co! I havent done that...that is not my point at all. I am very happy with Lerner and co...and MON. Please read what I write...it is not that I slam Villa.
-
Sorry, let me say it without the sarcasm. Manchester United have the luxury of being able to pick whomever they want in the transfer market so I don't think the comparison is a fair one. Martin O'Neill has to sell players that his club has the potential to be as successful as Manchester United. Sir Alex just has to point to their trophy room.
I know it isnt a fair comparison. It wasnt a true comparison either in that manner...it was more like wishful thinking...and ironic.
Yes...I know Man U is the biggest club in the world. Isnt that just why we should try and learn from them?
-
On another note...A top European football club and the winners of Premier League has said that they most probably have done their signings for this summer. Well...it is only Man U...we dont need to follow their lead because a club like Man U dont know much. :winkold:
How ever does Manchester United do it?!?! They're constantly attracting world class talents to the club- MON could learn a thing or two from Sir Alex. :winkold:
Man Utd = biggest club in the world.
duuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
For those who didnt understand that...I can explain...I was ironic...I should´ve added a smiley...and you should too.
Notable:
Adj. 1. ironic - humorously sarcastic or mocking; "dry humor"; "an ironic remark often conveys an intended meaning obliquely"; "an ironic novel"; "an ironical smile"; "with a wry Scottish wit"wry, dry, ironical
humorous, humourous - full of or characterized by humor; "humorous stories"; "humorous cartoons"; "in a humorous vein"
2. ironic - characterized by often poignant difference or incongruity between what is expected and what actually is; "madness, an ironic fate for such a clear thinker"; "it was ironical that the well-planned scheme failed so completely"
ironical
incongruous - lacking in harmony or compatibility or appropriateness; "a plan incongruous with reason"; "incongruous behavior"; "a joke that was incongruous with polite conversation"
-
Even if you dont agree with me on this boys...there is no need to this abuse and disrespectful way to react on what I write.
kkr: Try and be a little bit polite if you know what that means...I havent said anything bad about you or what you think about yada yada...still you seem to judge me on a few posts.
YES! I have concerns about Aston Villa FC...just like anybody else...
YES! I trust MON and Lerner to get this right...but does that mean I cant say anything about what comes to my mind on occasions? Is the signings Villa make enough to take us forward or are we going to be on par with every other club fighting for Europe?
YES! I envy other clubs that has done quality signings and improve their squad because there will be harder competition next season.
YES! We are behind and we need to close down the gap...the question is...do we all think it is possible?
If you cant understand what I am talking about and what I mean then please dont make any answer to my posts because all you do is to try and make fun of me, disrespect me and humiliate my intelligence. I know what you all feel and I dont panic because we havent signed anyone yet...contrary on what you all might think...I do however show my concern about what other clubs do and what quality they bring on. This is a competetive game and if you lose ground to the ones who is your closest enemy you are bound to lose.
Please try and discuss this in a good manner because there is no need to sarcastic or anything else just because I would like to have a serious discussion while we are waiting for our new signings.
I am not afraid to speak my mind like some people on here seem to be.

There is a small risk for Man City but I think any deal will be done soon...before end of June. When Thaksin comes in I fear the same kind of crazy buying as Abramovich days. Thaksin has a huge wealth and he will be very eager to get Man City to the top.
