We'll probably get a few in towards the end of next week, but they won't be anything exciting, just stop gaps until the end of the season.

It is interesting, but very exhausting, to read transfer gossip and speculation..yes...but it is also very exciting. Villa will buy some players and I predict that at least two will be very good signings...and maybe two of what you call "stop gaps". I dont think that MON is even considering stop gaps...I think that he want to add quality and true quality that can take this club forward...even in this season. Why buy, or loan, stop gaps if you build for next season to challenge truely for Europe?

We´ll get a few players in this month...I just wish it would be at least ONE today so that the club gets a true buzz...that will help the players to win big against Watford!

Tevez has loads of potential

we have a team full of potential , to avoid relegation we need a team that can deliver now ..otherwise no point signing anyone until close season and at a fairer price

Ardiles & Villa never played in the Prem BTW and Crespo in his 4 years at Chelsea has only played about 25 games

Bah! For Europe I cant see many players in our current squad being full of potential. If you think that our team has loads of potential...then why hasnt players been linked with moves to Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea??

We have mediocre players with promising young kids that still are way off making real mark in Premier. We play some good games, but we are so inconsistent so it is marvellous...and that is because potential and skill doesnt add up...

Ardiles and Villa played in the highest of leagues in England at that point. Just because it is called Premier now doesnt mean that we play on another planet...

And to be perfectly honest...you havent given Tevez and Mascherano time to adjust and to prove themselves in Premier. It is very premature to call them flops when they´ve been having problems with media screaming about the shock transfer to West Ham and that they´ve had to live with two managers that doesnt believe in them...

Mascherano is going to Liverpool so he must suck big time yes?

Tevez is finding his feet now and looks a lot better since Curbishley came to West Ham. Tevez has loads of potential and is truely a very good footballer...but it is the same with every team and player...if you dont play football after the skill of your players you will never succeed. This is probably most british managers biggest dilemma...they buy players they like...not because HOW THEY PLAY...just because they are good footballers that MIGHT suit the english style. If the english style had a different way to play...like Chelsea do now...then many foreigners will be successful. If play like Villa do often...hoofing the ball and throw crosses blindly then no player is certain to be successful.

A new possible target has emerged for Premier teams and that is argentinian striker Fernando Cavenaghi. He plays for Spartak Moscow now but wants out because he cant adjust to life in Moscow...

This player really is something extra because I have seen him play a few times. He would be just fine for us I think.

He´s linked with Manchester City at the moment, but he would most certainly be available for us if MON wants him.

Blanco Kepa seems heading for Charlton. That is sad because he could give us some extra force up front. He doesnt play so much at Sevilla now, but that is hardly not because he´s bad...Sevilla is one of Europes most interesting sides and they lead La Liga before Barcelona...so there´s some quality in that side. :winkold:

It seems as Scottish international striker Garry O'Connor is leaving Moscow and wants to play in the Premiership.

As far as I know I have never seen him play, so I wouldn't know if he's any good.

Considering our manager knows a lot about Scottish players, could he be a possible target? And if so, is he àny good?

Probably for the scottish league...but not for Premier. I dont want Villa to take players from scotland because that league is far below Premier status and it shows when players come to Premier.

I really think a deal for Klose is already made with Man United...he will join them in the summer.

Quincy Abeyie would be an excellent signing for the RW, I cant believe Arsenal let him go for 1.5 million to Spartak looks like a proper winger. I think he went off the rails a bit, but talk about quick this guy would give Gabby a race and has good close control at high speed.

Routledge is a poor player. I would be unhappy with him.

Still...he would give us alternative and a extra body in midfield. If we not get Young or SWP then Routledge would sound ok.

That is a story printed a few days back. That shows how much Villa are making headlines at the moment... :winkold:

Because he is not willing to even consider the possibility of Championship Football. We have a board and manager who will improve the club and want to be positive rather than negative.

Even if we have that they still dont make the results on the pitch. A club is seldom better than its position in the table...however I do believe that we have top management and top board now...this is the reason why we are impatient about that we have low quality players on our hands. Some players are skillful and good quality, but as a squad we are mediocre. This is why the team has such a big problems winning games...we have to struggle against any team. We can lose to any team, but Villa of today is not capable of winning against any team.

I have faith in the new board and in Martin O´Neill...but we are fans that desperately needs result...not only talk. Action shows ambition...talk shows intention...

Everyone knows that Villa desperately need players and that MON has money at his disposal. This will end bad if MON decides to hold on to Lerners millions as our squad is short of manpower and skill. Villa of today is weak and isnt a winning team anymore, if we ever has been with these players...

I should say that all the draws we´ve had so far it might prove to be very lucky draws because now relegation zone is getting closer. Villa, under Lerner, is supposed to fight for Europe! It is therefore crucial that we pay up in order to get the players we want or we start facing facts that the club isnt as ambitious as it has been said to be...

There is a very thin line for Villa now...we could end up with a relegation fight if MON and Lerner not get good players in. We already have some players playing more than they should and we have had, and still have, a rather huge injury list if we compare to how many squad players we have. I see this window as crucial for where Villa end up this season...good players in and we can fight for Europe...no players in or only bodies to cover and we might end up a championship team by the end of the season! What players can Villa buy that will take us forward if we have lost the Premier status? NONE!

For Villa it is much more crucial this window than for the most of the teams...does that mean that we need to cough up extra million for a player we want despite his worth less if it were in the summer transfer? YES! Villa need to pay extra and we should just because it can have a enormous effect on where we have our position on the market when the summer comes! If we pay £10 (combined) above "normal" price for 5 players then I think we should do it...as long as we have that money.

It is crucial for Villa to end up high in the league to be able to attract the right players in the summer that can give Villa the extra push forward and bring back glory to Villa Park!
