  1. I could imagine some villa fans getting his name on the back of there shirt the way it's going. :)
I would seriously consider it! What number to have though?

Ancelotti certainly looks better than "Bent" on the back of a shirt anyway.

If he becomes our manager I'd seriously consider getting Ancelotti on the back of my shirt! Would have to be done!

I tell you what, I'd seriously consider making the three hour trip up from Kent just to welcome him to Villa if we pulled it off.

I used to go to uni in Kent, 3 hour trip is horrible, especially the traffic on the M25/M1 but for Carlo it would be worth it!

It would have to be number 1, and if Wilkins comes in as our number 2 one of my mates would have to get Wilkins with the number 2 as well lol

I'm going to Kent in September. How would you rate it?

Anyway, on topic, if we did get Ancelotti how many people would we be talking about greeting him at VP?

I would for sure, potentially the most important signing at VP in over a decade.

Small world, I lived in Kent for 28 years, moved up to Staffordshire in 2006 when I met my wife.

  3. someone wrote that they heard that lerner should be flying in tuesday. this would make sense as ashley young has said he will now talk to randy about the future before his holiday and one of the newspapers said that randy will confirm ancelotti on friday while he is here. to go with that mat kendrick said on twitter avfc hope to announce end of week or begginnig of next week. interesting.fingers crossed

I hope we do get Ancelotti and I hope he persuades Young and Downing to stay.

  4. One thing Rijkaard is excellent at, is
He's very welcome to try that on Steve Bruce next season, or MON if a Premier League club is mad enough to hire him.

You'd really be happy with the manager of our great club going around spitting at other managers. Its the lowest of the low and absolutely disgusting and says a lot about the people that do it and those who condone it.

I'd rather be spat on than raped/murdered, personally :)

Still not a nice thing to do.

Personally, I hope that any Villa manager/player had more respect and professionalism than do something like that to another human being.

Well if I remember right (stand to be corrected), Voller was being rascist to him and he just lost his rag. Not condoning his action, but Voller seemingly was totally out of order.

Voller's behaviour was equally appalling agreed. Still not something I'd like to see associated with Villa.

  6. I just can't quite believe the amount of seemingly intelligent villa fans that have become so picky that they wouldn't bite the hand off of a massively successful manager with bucketloads of contacts in the top leagues just because he came to a ignominious end at Liverpool.

    Count me as one.

Houllier had won a fair bit up there as well. those were the days when liverpool were funded man city style - and we had endless pundits discussing the secrets of liverpools success

how long ago was his last trophy

we don't want \ need a another overhyped ex scouse boss

Sorry to do this but when exactly was OUR last trophy?

    1996

But we are looking for a bloke to win us the next one. and a bloke who was bankrolled 7/8 years ago - isn't going to do that

That's a bit strong. All I'm saying is that he HAS won trophies - if you took away 'bankrolling' you might change quite a few managers' credentials. Winning two Spanish titles isn't to be sniffed at, by the way.

i just don't want anyone who has ever been connected with the pile of shit that is anfield at our club.

(should we greet his appointment with a minutes silence - make him feel at home)

Towards the end of his tenure at Liverpool, Rafa was seen as a joke, an almost comical figure and for many he has failed to shake that image. As managers represent the clubs they serve, my biggest concern if he were appointed, would we now be left open to ridicule also?

  7. Does anyone agree MON is one of the worst modern managers around? I can't believe all the mess he has left behind and the general public still think he's a good manager. He has the whole media fooled that's for sure.

Surely no one would be stupid enough to give him a warm welcome at Villa Park if he was hired at a different Premier League club?

He did alright at Villa, spent to much money on average players, tactics were a little suspect at times. However 3 top six finishes back to back is OK. He could have done a little more I suppose, but he was a much, much better manager than DOL.

The only negative I have against MON was the nature and the timing of his departure, really dropped us in it!
