  1. Commander your memory is rather hazy!

Barry was used as primarily a left mid / winger and occasionally as a left back under O'Dreary, it was MON that successfully converted Barry into a central midfielder. Barry was signed under Brian Little I thing and it was Gregory that gave him his chance as a centre back.

Agbonlahor was going to be sold to SHA for 3 million when O'Dreary was sacked by Ellis for his act of insubordination. Gabby was very raw back then and quite frankly I believe MON worked wonders with him. He was also in charge of those dreadful results against SHA. Also what about Djemba Djemba? Selling Crouch for 1.5 million to Saints?

Laursen, Bouma and Milner on loan and Solano were his only good signings and two of those were gone after a season and the other two were plagued with debilitating injuries. Why don't you ask Leeds fans about his record with signings? Seth Johnson?

Whitts left mid / winger. Barry Centre.

DOL >>>>> MON and he did it on <25% of MONs leaving wage bill.

I agree that MON bought the best out of Gabby. DJDJ was poop but he cost 825k, and had champions league experience, a little bit better value for money than NRC for £8m, Sidwell for £5.5m.

Again I'd liek to reiterate I detested DOL as manager but I think he's genuinely a better manager than MON (less so in terms of motivation and public relations but in other areas better) - but he was / is a monumental prick and he's only got himself to blame why he's no longer employed in the prem league. OH and yeah I agree that he spent / wasted loads t Leeds but at Villa most of his signings were good (on paper at least) - with the majority having champions league experience, he worked wonders with the kids (looking back) whilst not spending a lot of money (bar Baros) and the signings of Laursen and Bouma - are the two most exciting we've made since Collymore.

    I don't know where to start..... :?

  2. Realistically Barry - he will be well down the order at Cittee next season and his experience would help our 'youngsters' (or should I say less experienced players)

Not sure he will really, he starts virtually every game for Mancini - obviously likes him.

But yeah, like a shot - Barry, Milner, Young, Cahill....

  3. Have to say im with CI on this one, I just don't see what makes Lambert so special that we should go for him.

He's done a great job at Norwich no doubt, and i'd gladly have him over our current manager (Public Enemy #1) whose name i shall not utter, but i was hoping we'd aim a bit higher than this.

Do people wan't him because he's really that good period, or are they settling on him because they think he's the best we can attract in our current state?

No doubt someone else has probably mentioned it already, but back to back promotions from league 1 and then a very steady 1st season in the Prem, never in danger, is a phenomenal achievement. All with alot of the same players he inherited when he took over aswell.

It's all very well suggesting Rijkaard or Scolari etc, but it just won't happen. Lambert has to be the top of the 'gettable' options out there.

  4. This is our final points total unless Lerner does the right thing and sacks mcliesh NOW to give us a boost.

If he keeps him for the last two games (and insane as it sounds it looks like he is) Then its pretty much out of our hands. All we can do is pray others fall down.

Norwich have let in 9 in their last 2 games at home, so I don't think Carrow Road is the fortress some think it is....

  5. I'm really confused. Why are people so certain now that he's going?

I think because what lies between the lines of the text in the statements from both club and manager speaks very loudly indeed.

I was of the opinion like many others that AMC would be here next season even after the Bolton debacle... until I read the club statement.

The coy way of talking about the next three games as the only focus for the future there made me think he was teetering on the brink.

Now given the way he's phrased his own response in similarly indirect terms, I don't have any doubt in my mind that he will gone very soon.

Sorry, completely off topic, but you have the best username on VT.

    BURMAH!

  6. Potentially going to Singapore to visit friends who have moved out there - any thoughts, tips, advice about the country?

I've heard the common perception of it being a tad dull is unfair.......anyone agree/disagree?

Also any experiences on the prices of food/drink would also be appreciated. Cheers!
