Really not keen on the idea of 30/31 year old players of dubious quality being signed. Makes me wonder if we’ve either lost our ambition or have FFP issues, but I’d rather we do nothing than litter the squad with aging players who don’t offer any improvements on the team. Free transfers are a good strategy when you’re bringing in players like Kamara and Tielemans who are quality (even if Tielemans had lost his way a bit at Leicester), not players like Anderson who’s already been poor in the league and going to be receiving his pension soon. Some of the other names mentioned as suggestions for a team in 2nd with a world class manager like Dele Alli, I mean WTF?

Hopefully people will regain their sanity soon and start talking about quality players who will actually improve us.

    🤨

He said when we signed Diaby it's a very good signing because he can left, right side forward and striker. Diaby played striker PSG youth team

Oh God.. he’s the new Traore where you tell everyone that he’s played striker before.

Indeed, I wonder if the opportunity for extra investment may have led to a rethink, and the scope of the project increased.

It's a project that has had pretty obvious obstacles from the start in terms of transport, logistics, the loss of revenue whilst it is completed, and none of these issues seem to have been overcome as of yet.

It's frustrating, but it's a massive project and unfortunately, massive projects are often subjected to multiple delays and changes.

    Well said. 👏

They can f off. Part of villa will die if we leave our home of 125 years.

The plans Purslow drew up were class and this gobshite has done nothing but rip things up since he arrived.

I am genuinely laughing so hard at your posts, please keep them coming.

Nowhere near good enough. Lacks good positional awareness and is not quick enough either. If he matched Moreno in terms of his threat on the overlap then, as with Moreno, we can live with his defensive frailties but he hasn't the pace to work the wing nor are his crosses worth waiting for. Nice guy but not good enough for a team looking to cement even a top ten place each season.

I'd say pace is Cash's best attribute.

I presume we’ll be seeing a lot of that next year. On what I don’t know, memorabilia maybe, or around the ground, general marketing stuff. As long as it’s not the new badge, it’s ok (but Chris, if you’re reading, the font isn’t particularly clear and at first glance it looks like a dodgy Chinese symbols tattoo).

    He's not.

He should have scored from the header Watkins served him, I can name a couple of players some posters would have crucified if they had missed that chance, but I guess as he is one of our own, we are not mentioning it. But good to have him back

    You clearly are.

    Weird.

  8. As time goes on, certain players just get left behind as the team improves and they simply don't have the ability to move alongside it.

Unfortunately, Cash will be a victim of this.

The more I analyse it the more screwed we are with the extra place.

Sliver of hope is that Italian teams all came 2nd in their group so hopefully draw City, Arsenal, Bayern and Madrid and go out.

We need a big performance tonight for the PL 4 wins and top of the groups

    Remain calm.

There are no easy games in The Premier League especially away from Villa Park.

Certain teams have that aura of let's try and keep the score down and are beaten before they walk on the pitch.

We are not one of those yet so every game will be a battle.

As Unai says one game at a time first let's make sure we qualify top in the Europa League.

Thar gives us a game less so it all adds to the tiredness in the legs.

We have not won away at Brentford since 1953 so 70 years!  If The Don puts that to bed I will start to believe!

    So, in 2 attempts?

Who really cares if he's first choice, second or third? Some of the greatest stories in football history have come off the back of players that were probably never first choice anywhere. I bet, if you went around all the clubs in the world you'd find that most clubs don't get their number one targets for each position. That's just how it is for nearly everyone including Villa, because there is always someone else to offer more. In Zaniolo's case, Monchi already knows him from his time at Roma, so those making the decisions obviously felt and may still do, that he was worth bringing in and could have a future here. Time will tell but I don't think writing him off with less than half a season gone makes much sense, especially with the amount of players we've seen improve massively.

Every player in the squad has been slated at some point, some ridiculously and continually at times, and yet 3rd in the table is where we reside because of the same players. If ever there was a time to feel content and support everyone, including those struggling, those injured, those not getting games. This is really that time tbh.

    Well said.
