  1. I know he is doing well at Sunderland but i feel that is more to do with the new manager syndrome

Ah yes, I remember how well we played when Houllier and McLeish first came in. I'm beginning to think that New Manager Syndrome only happens when the manager knows what he's doing!

To be fair even under those two we had a mini new manager syndrome. Both of them also had really bad patches going into Christmas though.

MON - Streets ahead of AM & GH without a doubt.

  2. If you played for Manchester United, a team competing at the very highest level year after year, would you risk an injury playing for Wales, a country that will never achieve anything in international football?

Sometimes I do wander. I was listening to Lewis Moody the other day he was saying how in Rugby the players automatically raise there game by 10% when playing internationally. I think this is lacking in the Football and its wrong.

  3. It seems that another Cameron appointment (and friend) has been shown up for what they are really about?

    link

A4e fraud allegations known before David Cameron picked 'families champion'

David Cameron is facing fresh questions over the choice of Emma Harrison as his “families champion” as it emerged the Government knew about fraud allegations against her firm at the time.

    ....

    Dave, Dave, Dave.

Superb - We expect nothing less from him.

I wonder who he / they will blame for this?

  4. If you read what I was commenting on pay for a mess the rich created, you will see that I was commenting on a simplification of this complicated issue.

Was it multi millionaires (or how do we define the rich?) who created this unholy mess? Well I am sure some of them were involved, the reality is that this was created by people who aspired to it, and people who were blinded by these riches. Its not just the rich.

I did not say they had equal culpability; you have surmised that yourself. It seems to me that we all want to find someone or some group of people to blame, but its just not as simple as that.

Yes, I read it. And I read your reply, which I quote in full below.

pay for a mess the rich created.

But it wasn’t just the rich was it? It was a combination of people with money, people who didn’t have money and borrowed more money than they could ever pay back, banks leveraged up to the eye balls, governments encouraging it, politicians encouraging, academics and economists making up rubbish and lots of people looking the other way...

And in the end we will all pay for it, and those who really need protecting will suffer, but don’t believe it was just a small group of “rich” people that caused it, and don’t believe it was a small group of people who were at the trough.

There were indeed more than the rich around the trough. However, a few had their snouts deep in the spoils, and a far larger number were snuffling round beneath for any droppings.

Again, to give them equal responsibility for what happened, and is still happening, is ludicrous and morally obscene.

All debt is created by lenders, not debtors, and it's always been this way. It's not that they're quietly going about their business when someone comes and begs to borrow money - they offer loans at punitive rates when they see that people need them.

The financial crisis was just one expression of this, but it's not a new thing. What is new, it seems to me, is the idea that it's the fault of the wage slaves, rather than the people running the show.

No I think it was definitely the Dinner Ladies to blame - I mean remeber the Daily Mail did say that they had gold plated pensions that dont even compare to a bankers bonus.

Not to forget the teachers who made the deficit with their Teaching. What do you mean it was all the bankers fault - people did not have to take the money if they did not want it.....!

    lol (Lots of sarcasm)

  5. Is it true he walked in to Faulkners office at one morning training session and basically said beat it if you think you can do better go for it and then stormed out without saying bye to anyone..?!!!

Who exactly are you expecting to confirm or deny that story?

I don't think either of those two post on here.

Dont really understand your point. The big picture is that Villa are a lot worse of without MON.

Pat Murphy who is usually spot on the money I believe claimed this or took a similar diplomatIc view. Then again its all rumourmill. I was just wandering if anyone had any quotes or any other stories ect ect.

  6. I think its a shame we lost him - It was the re intro of Man city that did ONeil. It was another bit of pressure, we had to compete with another giant on top of the top four. Plus they nabbed all our players. Learner then says to him its kinda hard financially at the moment, you have to remeber I have the browns as well. The board then said he could not keep any of the Milner money and he had reduce the wage bill and sell players whilst still competing for a top four spot...!

The General comes out with this beauty...!

"‎"Top 4 is absolutely our goal...and I honestly think that we will do it. We will strengthen the squad again, everyone will be settled in and comfortable...we will be huge"!

What choice did MON have - its the PL for you.

Is it true he walked in to Faulkners office at one morning training session and basically said beat it if you think you can do better go for it and then stormed out without saying bye to anyone..?!!!

  7. cheers - He was not perfect by any means and he had his weaknesses, which managers dont Ferurson, Mourishno and Wenger.

What is true is that we have gone from having:-

    - One of the best defences in the PL to having one of the worst.

    - One of the best set pieces to one of the worst.

    - Some of the best wingers to some of the worst

    - top six team to bottom six team.

    - Beating Blues loosing to blues.

    - high Attendence to low attendeces

    - wembley appearences no wembley appearnences

Mean while MON leapfrogs Aston Villa making no new signings winning 10 out of 15.

  8. It suggests he's a better manager then Steve Bruce, which in itself proves nothing we don't already know. They arent going to keep this run going, have played lots of easy teams and been ridiculously lucky in some games. I'll judge him over his first full season, be interesting to see if he makes similar decisions as when he was with us.

Actually it suggest that MON is quite a long way better than Bruce by a country mile.

Considering some Muppets think that Bruce is an ideal candidate for the England Job - Then thats put it into perspective a little.

Luck that old chesnut - you make your own. I dont think they will continue this run for longer either. However I do expect them to do better than Newcastle and Villa - which says something.

  9. If your saying MON is not a good/great manager what ever then who would you say it a great manager - Wenger, Daglish...?!!

MON was the best thing that happened to this club in a long time - now hes gone I have lost so much belief and existance of this once great club..!

I hope the fans who really took a dislike to MON and said he was dragging the club in the wrong direction are pleased with what we have at the moment. Thats what you wanted thats what yout have got - a relegation pile of misfits with no direction home.

The wages and transfers fees played for some players was pricey - but this is the PL if you wanna play with the big boys you have to compete finiacially. RL had the final say in this not MON.

    MON ami.

  10. Hi Folks,

I currently don't know a lot of people who have been made redundant.

I am not saying that I know the whole of the UK, I know a few people here and there not loads. I know quite a few people in the building trade and they seem to be stacked for work. Plus the few people who I know who have been made redundant have found jobs straight away. A few who I know in the factory manufacturing who export to the EU who still have stacks of work and demand has increased.

This seems contradictory to what the media are saying.

    Surely there are positives.

Does any one you folks know many people who have been made redundant and who are finding it difficult to get a job?

  11. It's a game and whoever has an issue with dunne in that video doesn't play competitive sport. Or is one if those utter tools in sport who is purely about winning and not about enjoying your sport/work.

He played there for years and knew some players and many of the staff.

Its more than a game especially if your a pro getting payed thousands per week, especially for the fans who spend thousands and dedicate a lot of there lives to.

We were poor that day - I wander why?

I completely agree Dunne did play there for years and probably did know a lot of people however there is a time and place to joke and laugh about casually - after the game prime example.

Which attitude in which video was better to have as a professional sportsmen...?

Whats the difference between doing in the tunnel at half time, and doing it after the game? The whistle "has gone" in both occasions.

As long as he is focused and up for the game as soon as they kick off I don't see the issue.

The video tells you nothing about how he acts in the locker room, just how he acts when meeting some mates in a player tunnel.

If it was on the pitch right after conceding a goal I'd completely agree with you though.

In my humble opinion a true professional sportsman has a friendly tone with the opposition player but gives his everything for the team as soon he steps on to the pitch.

Exactly - Which is fine if you play well on the pitch and are consitent every week. Can you remind me of the score, how many goals we conceded and the general performance...? All I am saying is his attitude could of been a little bit more focused in my opinion.

Its when you laugh and joke about and put in a terrible performance that's when things needs to improve.

The point I am trying to make is this:

We currently lie 14th in the PL, without a home win for a long time, our defense has been shocking. Over the past 2 year Villas performance have been woefully inept. Its ridiculous that you defending players attitude. I am saying that some of the players attitudes need to improve on and off the pitch.- they can give more. I simply cannot believe that YOU think there is absolutely fundamentally NO room for attitude improvement as they all currently give 100%, irrespective of what that video shows.

Which attitude from Which video would you prefer during a game..?

We can learn and need to improve. We have not got the class of players, we can improve in other areas starting with attitude.

This post will mean Dunne will be MOM today after scoring a hat trick in stoppage time after farting in the tunnel before the game whilst doing cart wheels and smoking a fag before kick off..!

  13. Woah, it was a joke dude (although I did bump into him)

I actually don't give a shit what you think

Sunbeam calm down - Another nice intelligent response thanks....!

Have you ever got any other superb comments you want to make other than swearing - If not then do one....!

    lol.

  14. i do think there is a time and a place to meet up with ex team mates etc. A Half time catch up, is a little Laissez - faire imo. However, VILLAFC2000 - your probably taking it a little bit too seriously. Some of the best players in the game played with a smile on their face. Craig Bellamy is forever pissing about on the pitch. Focused doesnt necessarily mean stood on the pitch, staring at the opposition goal waiting for KO

Its fine to get away with laughing and joking around if your good enough on the pitch - However if you laugh and joke around and play with an arrogance of complacency ending up with an inept performance - then I would say that not really acceptable.

What do you prefer the attitude of the first video or the attitude of the second video..?

  15. I literally bumped into Dunney today.

    Shopping in Selfridges.

I suppose VILLAFC2000 will be angry by that because he wasn't locked in his house studying Man City DVDs before the game on the weekend

LOL - Why would think that Sunbeam - not at all. Again I will ask the question is it to to much to ask for focus, concentration and Leadership from your experienced players before a game against one of the biggest teams in the World.

Dunne Is a class centre back on his day - absolute class. Could Villa improve their attitude absolutely..?!!! The results tell us the answer to that.

Its not as though Fans spend thousands of pounds, worshiping their heroes - idols and help to pay the wages of the players - Oh wait. The average fan works there balls off over a life time for very little reward.

I don't think I am asking too much or maybe I am.

Players to be part of a team, maintain TOGEHTERNESS and a strong mentality.

when in comparison to other sports the attitude shown was shite. Take a look at this clip.

All I am saying is I would prefer the attitude of the players below then the attitude of the players that played against city.

Do you disagree. If so then no wander our football club is failing with an acceptance of attitudes like that.

  16. Check this out at half. We are one nil down to City. Richard Dunne appears from the tunnel going out for the second half not with the Villa players but with the Man City players laughing his head off.

What the F--K is going on there, total lack of professionalism.

    8.50 in to it.

He should be fined for that and his wages should go to a charity.

lost a lot of respect for him after seeing that - one of my favorite center backs for Villa.

To have that casual attitude in a friendly game is bad enough but to do it in a PL game against the best team is truly shocking.

Before the game why on Earth are they all acting like they are gangsters from NY city, giving the city players high fives. Far too much respect shown to the Man city players. You can do all that crap after the game but not before it.

They should be so pumped for the game they want to batter City to pieces on the pitch not look as though they are about to go and party with them all smiles - shocking.

Tell me you're joking about the fine?

Tell me you have understood the point I am trying to make and tell me the final score in that game...!

I don't need reminding about the score as I was there. And your point makes no sense whatsoever in my opinion.

What don't you understand - there was a lack of focus, togetherness and a willingness to do well.

Let me put it this way are you arguing the point that based on the footage there WAS focus, togetherness and a willingness to do well..?

If your happy with that then thats your own view.

The other point is that Football teams could learn a lot from other disciplined sports such as Rugby.

Ah right so a player who has spent 9 years at a club, can't have a laugh with some of his old friends during the break. Should Shay Given be also fined too for hugging and having a laugh with one of the Man City back room staff as well too? Should Ireland also be fined for coming back to his boyhood club and having a chat with some of his mates?

Do you not go into work and give your co-workers some friendly greetings? Do you go in each morning pumped up ready for the tasks that awaits you ahead and sustain that feeling for your whole shift? What? You sometimes relax on your shift and socialize with your co-workers? Resign immediately, you're showing a total lack of professionalism.

Believe it or not, footballers do have friends from other clubs and are human.

Listen your not getting the point are you at all..!

Were you pleased with that performance then ?

I would not have minded f we put in a decent shift - the fact of the matter is we were inept.

I never said they should not have a laugh and a joke - there is a time and a place to do this preferably after the game in the bar after wards.

In Rugby you get much more pumped before the game kick the s--t out of each other on the pitch and then shake hands have a laugh and joke in the bar after, and you are 100 % focused on the task in hand before and during the game, as a team and unit. One in every f----r in.

Comparing my job to a professional footballer who is about to go and do and battle on the pitch is completely different, plus he earns 50 k a week.

"Believe it or not, footballers do have friends from other clubs and are human" - Crickey never would of thought that how long did it take you to think of that.

We got stuffed up there the point is that the team lacked leader ship, team working abilities and cohesion this was apparently evident in that video - which clearly showed in the performance.

  18. Its because Micah Richards farted that is all.

    Oh well thats OK then....!

Dont worry about the concentration, focus and determination.

The very very very least you should expect of someone earning 50k a week it focus, commitment and determination. That day it was obvious it was not there hence getting walloped 4-1.

    Not good enough excuse.
