You have to take that into context though. He's the best left back in the world, would be in massive demand yet Arsenal are only offering a very mediocre wage offer, in comparison with others.

He was undervalued at Arsenal and had to leave. If it was you at work, you would do the exact same thing and have the exact same reaction.

People are just far too judgemental towards footballers these days. All jealous in my opinion.

The slightly concerning thing about that is don't you think if the club planned to rid us of this useless clot they would have made a definite plan to meet. Just emailing and faulkner responding that he is available Monday and all week does not sound to me like the club making plans to get shot

he will clear out the old guard and build his own team in the summer. he will then be given a chance with his own team. As long as he trims the wage bill down by around £20m Lerner will be happy.

everybody said Lerner would not appoint him before last season but he did. now everybody thinks Lerner will sack him, he wont

I thought he was invisible all match imo. There were times when I heard the announcers say his name when receiving the ball, but he didn't stand out in his performance at all. Most of his passes were just square balls or back passes.

You could be talking about any one of Petrovs games for Villa in the past 2 years.

Think Delph will really grow into a great player given a run in the team. I don't think he's ever played two games in a row for Villa yet, so I'll judge him after a run of 10 games, but I think he could be our best player this season.

BBC say the £12 million Walcott deal was 'blown out of the water' by the Oxlade-Chamberlain deal and is easily the highest transfer fee ever received for a Championship club. Sounds like the deal was closer to £20 million than £12 million.

City are just too negative to win the big games. If they had of come out second half and tried to score more I think they had of won. They just sat back too much and allowed man utd back into the game.

I don't understand why the Sunderland fans are adamant he's on 65k a week. I would be shocked if he was on that, Villa are cutting back the wages. I'd say he is on 50k at the absolute maximum. They also seem to think Bent is on 80k a week, but I'm pretty sure somebody confirmed he was on 55-65k a week, which for a 20+ goals a season striker, is good value these days.

Interview on the Guardian website yesterday with Mancini - can't find the link this morning, but he was moaning about lack of transfer funds this summer and how he hasn't been given enough money to compete for the title. Poor chap.

I don't think we really need Hutton, nor do I particularly rate him, but I have barely ever seen him play in fairness. Do you really think Villa would still be in negotiations with Wigan if N'Zog said he doesn't want to move to Villa? The first thing clubs do is ask the players representatives if they would be interested in a move. And in any case, why would a player reject Villa and move to Sunderland? Doesn't make sense IMO, unless it's for personal reasons.

N'Zog 100% does want to come to Villa, and I'd be shocked if he'd prefer to go to Sunderland over Villa.

I'm sure Steve Bruce has said they don't have the money to get him in anyway.

Because signing N'Zogbia looks more and more less likely every day.

How does it? It's not like there's clubs competing with us to sign him. It's a one horse race. Just a matter of time really. We're negotiating over £1 million and we're in the favourable position because he's only got 1 year left on contract, and no other clubs are in for him.

Given is 10 times the player Friedel ever was. Never really rated him, I feel people only thought he was good was because the MOTD panel used to rave about him, but that was only because of his age.

I have no doubt that the Ireland story is true.

Gazton is 100% on all things to do with Irish players.

And do you really think Stephen Ireland turned his back on his own country over some little incident? It must have been as bad as the story mentioned by Gazton.

Anyway, I really want Ireland to turn good and I have said all along that he is easily our most talented player and we need to make sure he uses his potential for Villa.
