Yeah somehow it feels like Argentina's luck is out tonight.
Yeh that is my gut feeling. The shot against the post at the end sums it up. The Dutch goalkeeper is huge as well, which must could be intimidating.

Argentina deserve to win. They've been the better and more positive team for all but 15 minutes of this match.
Yep, which means the Dutch will probably win on penalties.

He’d be playing at Man City now if he was
Ouch.

Great play by Bellingham. Why couldn’t he have been a Villa fan.

Nice move for once. They let Kane turn which was a mistake, Bellingham ran on behind with a great run and lovely pull back. Nice finish from Henderson. I can’t say it is a fully deserved lead though, but will take it.

Goal!

Saka off for Rashford or Grealish. Saka has not been good today. We need someone to run at their defence, as slowly passing it about in front of them is clearly not working.

Game over! Dutch did not get nervous.

Game on! Dutch could get nervy now.

Some of those photos in the article I haven't seen before with sketches of the development. They must have been part of the original inner city academy application as it shows the current North Stand. I presume that they will now not include the current club crest for branding either!
Yes, I would imagine they will put the new round crest on everything from now onwards. The old ones around the ground will be updated to align with all of the others.

Some pictures and an article on the Birmingham Live page about the new inner city academy's progress. It looks like things are starting to take shape now, with the metal framework in place for the indoor pitch. Hopefully some good and exciting years ahead of us at the hands of NSWE, where we can attract the best of the local talent to the club.
Aston Villa’s new inner-city academy - labelled a game-changer - is beginning to take shape following the installation of the 16.4 metre-high steel structure which will become a huge dome that will house a full-size 3G indoor pitch.
Villa were given approval to build a new academy building back in May 2021 with the aim of developing stars of the future for the club’s men’s and women’s teams. The site, which is off Witton Road, Tame Road and Brookvale Road in Aston, overlooks Villa Park with a walkway also expected to be built between the academy building and Villa’s new North Stand redevelopment with work set to start on that in the summer of 2023.
As well as an indoor pitch plus changing rooms and a parents lounge, an outdoor 3G pitch measuring 92m x 55m will also be built “which is suitable for under 15/16 players”. There will also be three car parks with a total of 445 parking spaces.
A planning document reads: “It is proposed that the academy will run between 16:00 and 21:00 Monday to Friday and alternate Saturdays, when AVFC are not playing at home. On average there will be approximately 70 players and 20 staff and parents on site at any one time, but this could be increased up to 100 players.
“During the daytime week-days the facility may be used by the club as part of its community programme and foundation work, though this is not a regular use. The submitted information advises that the day-time use would finish before the academy use starts. It is not proposed to open the site to the general public.”
A planning spokesman continued: “Aston Villa already operates a training facility at Bodymoor Heath which is north of Sutton Coldfield and is approximately 12km from the stadium. The club have advised that the Bodymoor facility will become player training only for the AVFC players.
“The proposed development at Witton Road will enable growth in their youth training programme and not provide for professional player training. The application site is more accessible by public transport and is located closer to both the stadium and the residential areas in Birmingham. The academy will be run by AVFC for young people, by invitation. The facility will provide youth opportunities from age four upwards and expands the existing youth offer provided by the club.”
In a nutshell, Villa want to unearth the very best in footballing talent from urban, underprivileged areas close to Villa Park such as Witton and Aston, Nechells, Newtown, Saltley, Perry Barr, Handsworth and so on. As mentioned, it’s aimed at young boys and girls unable to travel to the more rural Bodymoor Heath. Those at Villa have labelled it a “game-changer” in terms of helping to develop stars of the future. It’s hoped that the academy building works are to be completed by Spring 2023.

Goal!!! Great Free Kick from Rashford. Makes up for missing the sitter earlier.

I hope we treat this competition seriously. We have never won the FA Cup in my lifetime, and it’s a good route to European competition. We have had a couple of final appearances in the last 25 years, but we didn’t show up in either of those so I want us to put that right.
The final is a long way off at rage moment, and we need to get past a number of teams before we can start dreaming of the above happening. We are at the first step, so hopefully the players will be switched on fully for this tie, so we don’t allow Stevenage a chance of an upset. We don’t want to stumble on the first step.

His arm was behind him, and the ball hit his arm, what chance did he have to avoid that. Disgusting decision by VAR/Referee!

Just back home from a walk, clicked on bbc website live reporting to see the latest score between Portugal and Uruguay and see the top comment from Matthew Upson:-
“It has been toothless, unfortunately. Any kind of teeth would do just to liven it up a bit.”
Now, is he taking the piss out of Luis Suarez here?

Yeah he hasn’t been good at all, but you could say that about all of them. No stand out players for England tonight.

Haha, who called Henderson as first sub earlier.

LOL I was thinking how much it reminded me of Villa under Gerrard.
The similarities are uncanny. They must have gone to the same school of coaching.

I don't think its a personnel problem, it's a playing style one, we're just left knocking it about at the back too often with no forward ball options
I have no problem with possession based football, but with England it looks like passing for passing’s sake with no real plan to open up the opposition. No crisp passing or pulling players out of shape. Grim!
