  1. im pretty much indifferent on houllier, but the people sitting in the back of K6 tonight chanting "where's oneill gone" and "we want oneill back", you are all idiots in my opinion. he left us! if he'd been sacked it'd be different. but get behind the team ffs and stop moaning about the past.

  2. just got back...fan stupidity works both ways. no way are we completely blameless in this, but blues fans antagonising us by taunting us at ft in the way the did was a bit silly. theres a time and place for banter and a night game derby at ft on the pitch is not it.

police were a joke tbh. just pushed us down the hill, all they wanted to do was keep their own line and as soon as we hit the roundabout they disappeared! **** livid with bthe result too, obvs, we played them off the park. jeep the faith with houllier, we're guna play some good football and win sooner or later. credit to our fans at the game during it too, great performance. sotc. utv

  3. hmmm, pretty annoyed by this tbh. consistently do 10-15 aways in the league a season, plus have a s/t, but as i only went burnley i have to wait til the thurs 9th and by that point figure they'll be all gone...

  4. wtf i cannot understand why he would play clark there?! im a big fan of gh, like what he has said so far and pretty impressed with his pedigree, but to play a rookie cb in a game of this magnitude is beyond me. granted, sidwell is pretty lame, ireland not showing any sort of form, but still. also pissed off with the dunne ahead of cc rumour too.

  5. As the title says really. I'm in Chicago until Saturday and was wondering if anyone lives in Chicago and knows of any bars where they'll show the game?

I managed to find a class place in Winnipeg on Saturday by luck, but figure with Chicago being a major US city someone on here might be able to save me the hassle of wandering around looking for a bar that shows "soccer"!

    Cheers for the help

  6. I save money, even when I do drink because I don't drink often people want to get me drunk so buy drinks for me the lovely people so I must spend less than a tenner a year on drink :)

Why didn't you just say you were a pikey :winkold:

why don't you drink? are you especially good at a sport so therefore don't want to affect your fitness or do you just not cos you don't like it/don't want to?

sorry i'm just a bit cofused pretty unusual for a lad of your age (i'm guessin 17-21 going on the photo) to not drink out of choice...

  7. I really can't believe some of the people being mentioned on here.

If David O'Leary and Doug Ellis had even mentioned signing some of these there would have been uproar.

Players like Fletcher / Cattermole etc.. are the type of players West Brom and Leicester / Cardiff should consider to keep them in the league (Newcastle will probably even aim higher)

    We need quality and class.

this means a bracket O'Neill hasn't gone for before and needs to now.

I'd take Ireland, that is the one I would, I see in him what we bought in David Platt - I think he will be quality. And I would take a gamble (but that is what it would be) on Richards, two seasons ago when he was Englands right back the guy was unstoppable - he must surely still have it somewhere.

But for the main priorites (creative midfield and attack) we need the likes of Van de Vaart, if we can (but doubt) Joe Cole, if we can (but doubt) Darren Bent, and if not, then we will have to look abroad for a striker as there is no one else that fits the bill in this country, maybe Bellamy or Keane would fit the system, Forlan mentioned, could be.

But what I am saying is the MINIMUM quality we need is someone of Keane / Bellamy / Bent or even higher up front , and the quality of Joe Cole / van de Vaart in midfield.

Couple this with "potential but gambles" like Richards / Ireland etc.. and we may get there.

But we certainly ain't with Ricardo Fuller, Mark Noble, Anton Ferdinand, Danny Gabbidon and Lee Cattermole.

Jeez - someone will mention Robbie Savage next for the ball winner !

agree!!! big time. we need to aim higher if we wish to improve. people such as ashley young, petrov, and even milner still need to have competition for places. players such as cattermole and noble won't do that imo

  8. at least with milner we're in the driving seat, unlike with barry where we got screwed over for only £12m. here, if he does go, we will dictate the terms pretty much and get way over his valuation so at least we're not going to get bullied into selling him on the cheap

The £12 million we got for Barry paid for Collins and Dunne, who got screwed?, not us.

what i mean is that because he only had a year left we weren't in a very strong position when it came to their offer. although milner only has an additional year on top of that it still makes a lot of difference in terms of our ability to drive up the priceif city really want him that much

  9. Not for the first time after a match, I had to check I was on Villatalk and not a SHA messageboard! There is SO much negativity here about Villa, it is unbelievable. If people don't like the team, why bother to watch them?

Well done Villa. Dominated the game, had a fairly average day in front of goal but fought through in the end. We are now up to sixth - ABOVE LIVERPOOL* - and still making those Manchester and Tottenham boys look over their shoulders just once or twice.

And well done Nathan Delfouneso for SCORING YOUR FIRST PREMIERSHIP GOAL* - hopefully the first of many.

    * These are the sorts of things I thought people might be celebrating, not droning on the usual dreary stuff about how Villa were shit, etc. Should have known better by now.

    this!!!

  10. dear god i can't belive the negativity! we won. we played spells of good football, and tbh pompey rarely threatened. should have scored a couple more but let's be happy for a change!

Good football, overhitting cross after cross?

    If you say so.

spells of good football. some of the stuff we played to get into the positions to hit the crosses was good. i really don't see why some people take every possible opportunity to turn positives into negatives

  11. i'm still set on cameron, thought he did well tonight. thought brown was acting like a little girl the way he kept trying to give it the "and i know nick clegg agrees with me..."

also, all 3 annoyed me a bit at the start by the way they all tried to come out with the most emotive story: "i met a someone last week who..."

    anyhoo, conservatives ftw
