  1. Foreign talent you say?

Alex Witsel, Steven Defour, Jelle Van Damme. Hell, just saying that name gives me goose bumps.

The same Jelle Van Damme that couldn't make the grade at a relegation-bound Southampton? Who, during a heated match called Oguchi Onyewu a "Dirty Ape"? I'd rather Jean-Claude personally, he seems like less of an utter clearing in the woods and I imagine he would get stuck in good and proper. :D

Defour's still crocked if memory serves, and if he does manage to recapture his form after injury I believe Alex Ferguson was courting him so I can't imagine we'd be in with a shout if we were interested.

I haven't seen enough (or indeed any) of Axel Witsel, but it seems he was involved in a stamping incident where he broke an opponents' leg... crikey, these Belgian players are a class act!

  2. Ideally I'd rather we not lose too many players beyond Bouma, Harewood and Salifou (maybe Sidwell at a stretch). Next season is going be tough and we'll need all the resources at our disposal and then some if we're going to continue challenging at the right end of the table.

The only necessity for me would be an out-an-out goal poacher; someone who can regularly get their head onto the plethora of crosses coming in and can also sniff out chances. Finding that player is going to be an almighty task, it's easy to come up with a list of candidates but we're just going to have to wait and see. Certain names from the lower echelon of the Premiership have been banded about of late; in all honesty you could take your pick of Cole, Rodallega, Kalinic or Fletcher and they would all come with the same question mark over their ability to perform regularly at a higher level. Maybe we already have the answer in Delfouneso? Perhaps we'll even break from tradition and bring in a big-money signing from the continent? Whatever happens, postulations on the plans MON and Lerner may/will have for the team are in likelihood going to be wide of the mark.

Beyond upping the calibre of our firepower, a promising young right-back would be a welcome addition (particularly if either Habib Beye or Luke Young do decide to migrate to greener pastures). The people's choice would seem to be Nathaniel Clyne; I'm quite partial to Adam Matthews at Cardiff but I certainly wouldn't be disappointed with either.

The acquisition of a midfielder competent at both breaking-up the play à la Petrov and providing a supply-line to the strikers through the middle of the park would be an expensive luxury, but one that may ultimately prove the gap between 6th and 4th. If only we could clone James Milner.

  3. Hey guys. I just wanna say on behalf of most Spurs fans that I appeciate the kind words and enthusiasm shown by most of you tonight. I know we've been rivals all season and many of you dislike Spurs for differing reasons, but it's always pleasing when oppossing fans are offering such congratulatory messages on such a big day for this club.

Another reason why I'm glad I joined this forum and not Bluemoon or RAWK.

    We salute your acheivement!

  4. I think Arsenal will go in for Green.

I think they should go for Frey of Fiorentina though, a very underrated keeper and Fiorentina have had a poor season. With Prandelli maybe off, I can see Frey going to a bigger club too.

No no no no no no no *puts fingers in ears* LALALALALALA NOT LISTENING TO YOU!

  5. Well done Spurs. Not relishing the cockney wankfest that will ensue in the coming months, but definately the lesser of all evils (how's that Champion's League ambition coming along Barry? :D).

Work's gonna be unbearable now though, of the 4 people in my team two are Manure fans and the other (my boss to make things worse) is a Spuds fan.

  6. Are Kaiserslautern still the last team in recent history to be promoted from the second-tier of a major European league one season and win the top-tier the next? Can't think of any other teams that have done this in the last decade or so (certainly not in the Bundesliga anyway, unique acheivement there I believe). Shame really, Kaiserslautern could have been a major European team by now were it not for catastrophic financial mismanagement.

  7. Borussia Mönchengladbach and a host of British clubs looking at Marcus Pedersen

    Cheap Online Translator said:

In the game of the Norwegian 'tip leagues' between Vlerenga IF and Strømsgodset IF sat next to observers of Borussia Mönchengladbach, also Scouts of the national league team of Hamburger SV, of the English premier League clubs Blackburn Rovers, the FC Fulham, Bolton of hiker and the FC Sunderland, of the Scottish premier League club Celtic Glasgow, of the Swedish society BK hoeing as well as of the French society AJ Auxerre on the platform.

While it will have concerned at the observer of the Borussia according to all foresight Ove Flindt Bjerg, the Norwegian daily newspapers speculate unanimously that at the same time the storm talent Marcus Pedersen of the current table fourth Strømsgodset IF in the visor of the Topclubs stood. The striker provided with its hit to the 1:0 victory of Strømsgodset IF.

On the 09th of April 2007, that debut today 19-year-old in the A team of its homeland society Hamarkameratene, better well known as a HamKam in a game against Skeid. In the further course graduated it yet three games before it an injury threw back. On the 09th of July 2008, it obtained its first gate in the Norwegian elite league in the game against Rosenborg Trondheim and provided with its hit in the 90th minute to the 2:1 for the victory against Trondheim.

As "antrittsschnell, very heavily to stop, striker with Torriecher, fearless and strong technical capacities", is described the 1,80m large strikers. Nevertheless the at that time climber HamKam descended again and so the right foot 2009 changed after Strømsgodset IF. There it obtained in its first year in 24 games ten of gates as well as three models and awaked therefore also in the Norwegian media high attention.

Also in the running season, this trend continues. So stand after previously eight games already five of gates and three models to beech. Understandably wakes that pruriences. Teams out of the premier League as well as out of the national league observe it obviously already since a longer period.

At the same time became in the second half of the year of the last year of the media already an Ablösesumme of 1.4 million kolportiert. The portal 'transfermarkt. de' appraises the market value of Pedersen, whose Vertag still has its validity until 2013, on 1 million Euro. "I does not know that some societies are interested, but I knows which. It would be crazy to be able to play once in the premier League, also Germany would be crazy", so Pederson end of the past year.

Could be promising, can't really see a Premier League team taking a punt on the kid after one good season despite the links, and seeing as 'Gladbachs top scorers this season consisted of a central defender and a winger, we need all the reinforcements up front that money can buy. We're also rumoured to be looking at Robin Söder from IFK Gothenburg, who was linked with a host of big clubs in 2009 before a cruciate injury stunted his development.

  8. No room for medieval practices in the modern world, regardless of how many angry extreme right wing muslims is pisses off.

I (mostly) agree with this statement. Unfortunately, things are never as black and white as that though.

  9. Steve McClaren might be taking over as Wolfsburg boss, imagine the hilarious accent you could have to listen to! His German one must have something on the Dutch lilt he adopted.

Now you come to mention it...

  10. i am going to be living in germany for 10 months from september so i will have to choose a team too. all i know is that i will be in nord-rhein westphalia, don't find out my actual town until july.

    Monchengladbach's in Nordrheinwestfalen. :winkold:

  11. To everyone who's said the mighty Foals, you're on my Xmas card list chaps. :D

    Reasons to support Borussia Monchengladbach:

-Strong Brit following, especially during the '90s due to proximity to British Military bases Rheindahlen and Laarbruch.

-Only German club to be referenced in a Fast Show skit ("Borussia Monchenmonchenmonchenmonchenglad To Be Back... match abandanos; fisty, bad boys").

-Proud history, absolutely dominated German football in the '70s.

-The club Lothar Matthäus, Stefan Effenberg, Berti Vogts and Günter Netzer all made names for themselves at.

-Gorgeous new stadium. I've had the pleasure of attending matches at Borussia Park (and at the old Bokelsberg stadium) and the atmosphere is always electric, even at friendlies.

-Uwe Kamps penalty heroics in the '92 German Cup semi-final (saving all four in the shoot-out against Bayer Leverkusen) mirroring Bosnich's penalty heroics against Tranmere.

-Penchant for nurturing exciting young talent: Marko Marin, Marcell Jansen, Marvin Commper to name a few that have done well for themselves. Currently, Marco Reus (brought in from 2. Liga Rot Weiss Ahlen as Marin's replacement) and Michael Bradley (who had a fantastic Confederations Cup) are two players causing quite a stir.

For those who've suggested FC St. Pauli, well, if you want to follow a team who thought having a camo-kit was a good idea then more power to you...

    Bleurgh!

And lastly, shit on Bayern Munich, shit on Borussia Dortmund, and shit on FC Koln. Much love! 8)
