Surprised no one has gone in for seiwald from Salzburg only 21 central midfielder, from what I’ve seen he’s only going to get better and be at at big team in a year or 2

I thought that was at the back of Brindley Place??😉

So what positions do we think we are still looking for incoming transfers?

    Another Central Defender?

    Central Midfield?

    Starting Striker?

    Back-up Left Back?

    Back-up Right Back?

Or are we pretty much done unless a good deal comes along?

I'm not sure we need another CB unless Mings goes which I would be cool with.

I think we need another strong CM - as per Stevie's comments after the West Ham game, we need to strengthen our spine. Sangare would be great.

I would like us to sign Hickey as he gives us cover at RB and LB with Ash behind him as fourth choice and Chambers and Konsa as extra cover. A higher loan for Kessler (Championship) would hopefully see him ready to serve as RB understudy 23/24.

As for strikers, I would love to see Dennis (from the limited amount I have seen and his stats) and Suarez with Ings sold and Cam out on a season loan, maybe even at a bottom half PL side (I do realise we are one of those currently).

I would also like to see a fourth "10"/wide player. Madueke looks really interesting but I can't make my mind up on the Ox for 10m - obviously the player that left Arsenal would be great but he hasn't played that much for so long.

Loads of outgoings to manage. Lange must be busy on that.

I can't see us not signing a further 3 minimum and possibly more if some first team squad players depart.

    Like who though?

Dennis? Decent scoring record in an often poor relegated team and rumoured available for £20m. Send Cam on loan in the other direction to sweeten the deal for them?

I personally haven't seen a lot of him but his stats seem good.

I like him but where would he fit for us?  In the middle attack behind the 9 we already have Coutinho and Buendia and we are struggling to fit both in and then as a winger, well we don’t play with wingers and if we did we have the likes of Bailey and Traore already.  I like the kid but we are overloaded in the positions he mostly plays so I’d rather a straight out No.9.  Good shout though just bad timing for the squad!

But we need options, especially with 5 subs now allowed, rotation and cover and four 10's/wide players - Coutinho, Buendia, Bailey and Johnson/Madueke would work? I'm hoping Bertie is off ... Love him when he's on but the other 66% of the times he brings little and is not good enough for an aspiring top 8 team.

I love the idea of signing a Sangare sort of player to go alongside Kamara in a 4-2-3-1 as I think that in turn gets the best out of Buendia and Coutinho, it also gives a more balanced way of getting both into a starting XI together but I just can't see that being a shape they go for. Especially as it doesn't suit McGinn.

As it stands with the two formations we have been playing I think they're crying out for an 8 who can offer more control in possession and be able to beat a press etc. McGinn and Ramsey have their strengths but their general passing numbers make for rough reading. Kamara is a great start but you don't want to have an over-reliance on him alone to solve it.

Me too. We have two attacking 8's in JJ and SJM and a third if you count Chuckie but it would be good to be able to field a strong double pivot/two sitters in a number of games. Dougie could possibly do that if he stays but it would be great to have a more physical presence. Maybe Sanson could also fulfill this role but it looks like he is off?

Sangare or Bissouma        Kamara.                           with Dougie/Sanson as cover rotation (I would probably sell Nakamba)

                                             JJ/SJM

Would be a really strong - defo top half - PL midfield and be a great base for Phillips and/or EMI to work from.

Mostly watched him at Toulouse before he went to PSV. Only watched the odd game for PSV and the Ivory Coast.

Don't watch more than maybe 10 Brighton games a season either so probably a similar amount. Yes the PL is a better league than the Eredivisie and Ligue 1.

Still rather have Sangare. Fair enough if you don't.

I am not disagreeing with you but just asking why you prefer him.  It does seem like you have watched him and Bissouma a fair bit and certainly more than me so I am genuinely interested in how you compare the two of them and what you see in Sangare, or Bissouma, that makes you prefer the former.

Sign those two and Gomez or Hickey or Bassey and that is our window closed and Lange can focus on selling players for the rest of the summer and VT will go mad having 2 months with no transfers or football.

I'd still look to sell Ings and replace with a Broja or Dennis.

From what I've seen of both I like Sangaré better. He'd likely be about the same price and ask likely lower salary. He's a year younger and as mentioned he doesn't have a potential pending court case.

But is what you have seen the YouTube video or are you regularly watching full games for psv and Ivory Coast? Clearly, playing in the Erdivise is somewhat easier than the PL??

Much ratter Sangaré than Bissouma if it's them we're choosing between.

Why out of interest? Bissouma has consistently delivered in the PL so comes with less risk/settling in but, I suppose to offset that, I can't see any allegations of rape against Sangare! As an Ivorian, he probably is away for longer at the AFCON than a Malian is likely to be?

Bloody hell, that is like watching football porn. We need to get his home address to Gerrard

He looks good (a bit like a right footed Bertie who gets involved with his long legs and languid style) but I don't know where the porn reference comes from ... I think you are on the wrong sites!😉

Tim Vickery has said that Julio Enciso is "the most exciting player to come out of Paraguay for a while", but adds that "He's still filling out and my fear is that he would be bullied out of the game in Europe." I agree with you that he was well worth considering and I think we probably were aware of him (or at least I would like to think we were), but we may prefer to go down the route of signing young players, like we are now doing from nearer to home, who might have less problems in settling into Birmingham and English football. That said, they just may have signed a future star and if so, it will be a case of why didn't we (as we did when we signed Barry)?

Is "the most exciting player to come out of Paraguay for a while" much of a compliment???  Is that since Almiron joined Newcastle??😉

Spot on and i agree the market is hard is that department in the forward area

Clearly it's not an easy place to go shopping - even Liverpool and Citeh have really struggled to find an out and out "9" until their recent activity, Arsenal are looking to take Citeh's cast off (not sure he is any better than what we have), Man U are relying on a 37 y/o (albeit a pretty decent one), Chelski can't make their's work so it's only Spurs of the Big 6 that have a proven (in the Premier League) solution. The best of the rest challengers are probably led by Wet Spam - with only one offering and he doesn't score bucket loads - and Leicester - who again have an ageing solution.

Watkins and DCL are probably as good as it gets in the PL outside of Kane and the two new boys. That's why Moyes and Arteta have been chasing Ollie, although Arteta has now seemingly settled on the easier to deliver solution.  Outside of those two it's a 2'games in 10 Wilson, a similar Bamford (It will be interesting to see if he can stay fit enough to play!), Toney (interesting to see if he can push on) or Mitrovic (can he at last deliver in the PL).

I do think Cam could be right up there with the best from what I have seen - he's as clinical as anyone I have seen at that age.

  13. Some reports that we would sell Ings with Brighton favourites. I would still look to do this - for the same reasons as I wouldn't have signed him i.e. he is injury prone. He hasn't looked great this last season and this is probably the last chance we have to get value for him. I would sell for the £20m mooted - if Brighton or a newly promoted club would pay that - and re-invest in someone like Broja or Brereton Diaz who have been quoted at £25m?

He could do a job off the bench, but for his own development I’d rather he play a full season at PNE then really challenge for a starting spot next summer. Would be a shame for him to only get minutes here and there this season.

I could see him coming back and getting more than minutes but if he is loaned I would want to see him at a better championship side, overseas or at a bottom half PL side BUT he has to be getting regular game time.

Chukwuemeka is going to prove a lot of people very wrong, I just hope that it's with us.

Why do you say this? I think most of us have very high hopes for Chukie and the club clearly think he has massive potential. I'm not really sure who you think he will be proving wrong if he is a success?

He just needs game time. I think a similar pathway to Gallagher - a season on loan at a decent top half championship club and a season at a newly promoted PL club/bottom half club playing 30+ games (by which time he will still be only 20/21 would serve us and him really well.

I don't think we need to replace Trezeguet and El Ghazi as such, we've already got Traore, Buendia, Coutinho, and Bailey that can play those wide forward/ No.10 roles, plus some younger players.

Maybe if Traore goes as rumoured then we will bring in another option, might depend on what exactly the situation is with Chukwuemeka, hopefully he signs a deal, and becomes another option for central midfield and further forward.

I think, on the basis of what I have seen, if we do keep Chuckie, he needs to get out on a good loan for a season at the top end of the championship along with JPB and Iroegbunam.
