  1. I know it's ten minutes in but Carew doesn't look at all up for this. Isn't getting anywhere near the balls played to him.
  2. MASSIVE goal. Should guarantee at least 7th you would have thought. Assuming we don't concede again of course!
  3. Not unmarked, Young was challenging him. Though you have to ask why it was him when Dunne was seemingly marking no-one. Fantastic header by Cahill mind. Have to say second half I'm not sure we deserve to win this anyway. Hopefully can still get a draw - given the spurs scoreline I think a win is fast becoming immaterial.
  4. Couldn't agree more. I was sceptical over the team setn out but I think the first half performance has justified it, should have scored at least one. Hopefully won't be rueing missed chances. Going to need to make somes subs for once in second half mind, no way we can keep up with the pace we have been playing at.
  5. Downing is the most one-footed player in the world isn't he? Madness having him out on the right wing! I still think we can win this, next goal (and I think there will be one) is crucial.
  6. Was poor defending but lets be honest Cahill has a reputation for managing to get into those positions and score. I'd have been surprised if Everton didn't score tonight the way the game has gone, we just have to keep playing as we have and I'm sure we will get back in it.
  7. I think some of our players must be on a promise tonight the way they are playing, particularly stan petrov. Only thing that worries me is we can't possibly maintain this level of energetic perfromance throughout.
  8. and we are a club supposedly in crisis. Ok I know we have drawn about 8 or 9 of them but still That's from the BBC isn't it? Surely that means if we have avoided defeat in two, that we have lost the last 18 of 20?
  9. I'm pretty sure Martin Jol was quoted quite some time ago in German media as saying he would never manage in England again. With that in mind I'm not sure he is as a realistic a possibility as some of us would like to believe.
  10. That's rubbish. Milner declares himself fit, how is MON to know? It will be Milner who destroys his own 'WC dream' if he is playing when injured. I see MON taking a lot of critiscism on here and some of it deserved but that really is ludicrous. Players will always declare themselves fit and want to play. Many ex-professionals and commented on that. The manager (in this case MON) is normally (and in any case should be) aware of any niggles. It's known Milner has a problem with his achilles yet he still started today's game. In response to someone mentioning all the players with knocks, you could have brought Cuellar in for an injured Dunne and left Downing on and taken Milner out of the side with regards to the midfield. I'm not saying he should have done this but if he is serious about protecting our players you would like to think it would be serious considered - particularly when he took Cuellar and Downing out the team to throw two others in anyway. To be honest I'm not sure it's something he should have done today but more something that should have been considered in the home games to keep the players going. On the match as others have stated this was shambolic, the net amount spent on our squad over thelast few seasons means at any level we shouldn't be on the recieving end of these sorts of scorelines. Not only is it our worst defeat in 24(?) years but when was the last time you saw one of the other established premier league sides take this sort of hammering. I thought we would probably lose but there are no excuses for this sort of result. I feel sorry for whoever actually spent a lot of money going to our last 3 games, whilst Sunderland was a decent performance, today and Wolves people certainly wasted their money in my opinion.
  11. Brilliant, we have brought the two ghosts on. I hope we don't just spent the rest of the game defending and inetivably concede.
  12. Good first half performance, lets hope for more of the same and that we don't regret not converting our chances. It's such an open game you feel Wigan are quite capable of snatching one if we don't put one of our chances away soon. On the flip side Downing has been incredibly useless this game, with the exception of being involved with the goal.
  13. We are playing really well, not sure how we haven't scored! Lets hope we keep it going. Milner has been amazing. I know it is early but have a feeling the officials aren't exactlly helping us.
  14. Trouble is it looks like the linesman is going to stick his flag up every time there is a close call. I'm not saying he has got them all wrong but it's up like a knee-jerk reaction.
  15. Good point I think. Dunne was immense. I think we did ok, particularly defensively, with the exception of the last 20 which were terrifying. I think people are being a little harsh on our overall performance, with spurs playing so high up the pitch and playing the direct ball to crouch so much it was always going to be difficult to retain posession and make the game a bit scrappy.
  16. Someone jinxed Cuellar then, shocking defending leading up to the goal. Good performance so far, we seem up for it anyway. Just need to be a bit more ruthless in the final third.
  17. I'm fuming. We won't be going anywhere any time soon if we play that negatively. Shocking second half after the first 10 minutes of it. Pleased with work rate but there's no need to have JC standing on the edge of our own area after 55 minutes till his subbed. Trying to play out injury time for the draw rather than going for the win at home. Very disappointed with the second half to be honest and the result.
