    Is that AVTV?

Yep, it's showing up as being shown, 6 quid...I've used it quite a few times this season- decent picture, commentary is a bit meh, annoyingly starts just as players walk onto the pitch and shuts off at half-time etc but a decent way of guaranteeing the full match..will sign up again today..hopefully to witness our 6th straight win!!

Johnstone, De-Laet, Terry, Chester, Taylor with a middle 3 of Jedinak, Hourihane and Onomah, with Adomah, Snodgrass and Kodja up top. 1 nil win.

Sounds like a plan in the circumstances.

I am debating whether to watch or not...I'm sure I will but usually by half time I'm thinking why on earth did I bother?! I just cannot see us getting a win from this.

  3. Thanks yeah annoyingly they must have changed the settings as the other games all worked, that link just says the video is not available in the country I'm in (Switzerland) so I'm going down the VPN route to be sure...thanks for posting the game times, hopefully a fun day ahead!

The tournament will be streamed live on the villa youtube channel

I watched the other games live on youtube (and can still see these listed) but when I go to the youtube channel now I'm not seeing this screen above...am I doing something wrong?! If they are 45 minute games do we play at 1pm and ??

  5. Welcome JT, agree with BOF's post above essentially.

Who is next?!? Hopefully it could lead us to bring in a few promising loan deals too if money is indeed a little tighter for us this coming season...

  6. Moving to Basel in July and would be good to meet up with some fellow Villa fans, will prob attend a few FC Basel matches too but will definitely head home to watch some Villa games too. Looking also for some local 5 or 7 aside footy to play and of course a decent bar where the footy will be on. Any advice etc please PM me and if keen to meet up then let me know, cheers Steve

    Oof, that midfield.

We need to chuck money at some CMs with a bit about them.

Yep and soon as we don't want to drop points throughout Jan due to being short, let's get some deals over the line in time for our game Vs Wolves, just under 2 weeks

I just can't see where a 10k jump in fans is coming from.  If anything I'd have thought people would be less likely to be able to go (me for one).

Regardless it's still encouraging and it would be nice to see a regular boost in home attendances.  We should be getting 38k every game imo.

I wonder if there's a bit of an increase in numbers from people like me living abroad and returning home for the holidays. (I always did the same as a student down in Plymouth and I bet a lot of students come back from college/uni too around this time) If I'm back home at xmas I'll always take in a game if the dates work out and the last one I managed was the dreadful 0-0 vs Sunderland taking my daughter and 2 nephews to their first match and my sis (so that's 5 extra people that wouldn't normally go- I can imagine that happens quite a lot)

Sadly though, I've not seen us win at Villa Park for years (2008 when we beat Spure 2-1!) and have witnessed such games since like our 4-0 defeat at home to Spurs when Bale grabbed 3 and Wigan where we lost 3-0. (I think in between was when we got thrashed away at Chelsea on Sky). I managed to see us draw 1-1 with United when Benteke scored that cracker with his left foot. I've also seen us lose away 4-0 to Man City in that time and 3-0 to Arsenal when Fabregas came on as a sub and scored 2 goals then got subbed off.

The good news for you lot is that I land late on Boxing Day so will miss the Burton game which as a result I think we'll surely win, but you might want to think about staying away for the game vs Leeds as I'll be there, hoping to see us win live for the first time in 8 years!  Wish me luck! (8 is my lucky number though)

Anyway, merry xmas fellow Villa fans, UTV!

  9. He's said he'll shake some things up and bring in new faces, hope he does too, I'd go;

                       Gollini

    Bacuna, Chester, Baker, Amavi

          Tish, Jedinak, Gardner

    Adomah,       RHM,         Kodija

I don't want to see violence unless by some luck Mr. Dublin and Mr. Savage are sat together.

I'm buzzing, nervous, excited and apprehensive all in one. I love/hate derby day. I think we'll pull off a famous win though.

Totally agree, it's an 8pm kick off over here tomorrow too so tomorrow is gonna drag also! It's my 12 year wedding anniversary too but thankfully my mrs understands what a huge game it is and joining me down the boozer for a curry and a few bevs. I have no idea how any of the players will get any sleep tonight. I think we will win it but it will be a tight, scrappy, nervous affair. UTV Come on you Villa boys!

I think we need to go back to basics on this one, just accept that our midfield is diabolical and try to pack it out to reduce us getting played through constantly and dominated. I would go for (assuming injuries are not going to improve):

                            Gollini

              Chester  Baker Cissokho

                            Jedinak

    Bacuna Tshibola McCormack Grealish

                            Kodija

When we have the ball Bacuna and Grealish can push forward, as can McCormack to support Codger, when we haven't got it  Bacuna and Grealish fall back and act like two wing backs/defensive mids to support the back three. I don't like not playing Ayew, but not sure how else to fit a decent(ish) midfield in. This could be an awful formation... I don't even know what to suggest, we're crap.

Yeah I think considering our poor form, playing away with only 10 men isn't such a great idea!

  12. I am of the mind that a good old fashioned 4-4-2 could be the right line up for this, and would like our captain to play in what I think is his best position, right back ( It was TS who apparently promised to play him at CB yeah not Garde)

    Guzan

Richards, Okore, Clark, Hutton (This is the best back 4 I can think of)

Sinclair, Gana, Sanchez, Gil (some pace and creativity out wide, some steel and energy in the middle) please note the word 'some'

Ayew Gestede (Some aerial threat in the box and from crosses and a potential 'okay' partnership- we need goals)

Prediction, a nervy 1-0 win to the Villa...deflection
