    Eye for goal? He's scored a single PL goal in the past 3 seasons.

    Exactly, he said 'eye' for goal, meaning 1 goal, single! He didn't say 'eyes' for goal...

    Mings should definitely be more of a threat in the opposition box. Hopefully we can utilise this with the new specialist coach in.

    Yep and Konsa too. Think both will bag a couple of goals this season. Hause looks a threat too when on.

    What would you lot do if you we're offered a shed load of cash more to do the same job but with a different company? From personal experience, I left IBM (a company I loved as they were the company that paid for me to do my computer science degree) to go to a small consultancy on almost double pay, I never looked back even when the consultancy went bust following the credit crunch.

    I see the Jack situation as a good thing for Villa, we're going to bag a load of cash. As a team we are so dependent on Jack, the opposition knew if they could contain him they would at least draw, if not win.  We will be forced to look for other creative options on the pitch. We should still be good enough to stay up.

    Maybe I am thinking glass half full?

    Exciting times ahead.

    I get what you are saying, I really do, I think as has been pointed out though, this feels bigger than one crucial player leaving, it feels like a pivotal moment in the clubs history. Keep him and it sends a huge message to the league that we truly are back and mean business and we are building something special. If he goes, I think we all fear the unknown...who is next to go? What stops Watkins, Martinez, Konsa etc (all with fewer genuine ties to the club) from leaving next season or the one after? Do we fall into a cycle of recruting well and sell for higher prices and repeat? It massively tests our recruitment strategy for sure and if the club have a great deal of faith in our youngsters filling key gaps then great, amazing, but that will still take time and losing Jack feels like it will leave a cloud, a gloom that will likely be hard to shift for some time. I hope this is not the reality and maybe plans are already afoot to replace him. Maybe he stays? We all hope so. Time will tell. I feel flat at the thought of losing him for sure but our club will remain and always will. UTV

    If the fee is around £100m then that would be incredibly frustrating imo. He's worth far more than that to us with 4 years left on his deal.

    Totally agree, would not accept double that for him! He is priceless to us. And if he had been played more at the Euro's I firmly believe he'd have been player of the tournament. Praying he stays. I do get the point that the money for him, 120M 150M etc could be used wisely in other ways but he is our star man, our captain, Villa through and through, he would be so difficult to replace like for like even if we had the money and offered the wages as the act of selling Grealish would weaken our hand regarding 'selling' our mission and ambition. I hope the club tell Man City where to go with their cash.

    I agree I just hate this phrase, I can’t get Bruce out my head whenever I see something similar.

    For me, Bruce is synonymous with 'there or thereaboots' and 'we pull wor socks up'

  6. Since Burnley play the 2 big men up top (and I think we are in need of a change/of something different) I'd go 3-5-2;

    Heaton

    Engels Mings Hause

    Guilbert Luiz Jack Nakamba Taylor

    Wesley Kodjia

    (We need a win but I'd take a point)

    Oh and Happy New Year!!

    I want mean Wes out on Saturday.

    He won more in the first 10 mins v Norwich than he had in the last three matches, you could see something was different.

    Right at it from the off please Sir Wes.

    I have made him Captain in my dream team!

  8. I assume we are likely to see something close to our starting 11 v Spurs for this one...are we thinking;

    Steer

    Guilbert Engels Mings Targett

    Douglas

    Grealish SJM

    Trezeguet* Wesley El Ghazi*

    *or will Jota start one side in place of either Trezeguet/El Ghazi- he has looked very impressive so far..wonder if Dean Smith is thinking of starting him..he links up so well with others, especially Grealish, I could see him getting the nod...

  9. Had a few afternoon bevs..song idea for Wesley...to the tune of Good Thing by the FYC

    Wesley-You Found a Home

    Wesley- Can't do no wrong

    Wesley's-Gonna score a goal

    A.V.F.C..It's your new Home

    I'll get me coat...
