  1. Also, how are Crystal Palace able to play high energy, high tempo, closing down the entire pitch football for this long, yet when we try it, we're buggered within 15 minutes?

We've even paced ourselves* tonight and we still look knackered and can barely control the ball.

*by paced ourselves I mean played flat back 11 cos we can't compete anywhere on the pitch.

  2. Our problem is in attack. We have no edge and can't hold the ball up. That makes the midfield look weak. That and Shancez wrong passes. If we had Bemteke or Kozak on the field we would look much stronger. And our confidence is at a all time low after the run we had. I am still in the optimistic camp. And happy enough with a point tonight, I actually blame Bentekes red card of our lack of points against Spurs, WH and Southampton.

Having a bigger forward to hold up play is just papering over the cracks. Lumping it to a big man to hold off their defense for as long as possible while the other 9 players escape from their own area is the worst football that can be played.

Did you watch Saints today? Almost every time the ball was hoofed forward by us it was intelligently recycled by them. Long balls when there was an opportunity or a mismatch (Pelle vs Westwood in the air, whos gonna win?) and short, smart passes to probe and pull us about the rest of the time.

If we had an amazing defense, rapid attackers and absolute workhorses for a midfield it would be a smart way to play (the MoN years). But we don't, so it's not. We're just fighting a losing battle every game.

There needs to be a complete overhaul to the football philosophy at this club.

  3. Got fired in April of my first season. Not for league position though (15th with 2 games in hand). Mid-ish table was still very attainable as I'd already played all of the top 6 twice.

I played Jores Okore too much and the board didn't like it. He'd put in some poor performances (read: he'd scored a couple own goals and taken part in a couple maulings by the big teams) and the board asked me to drop him. I said ok. Then after a month of no appearances he had to replace Senderos because he'd gone off the boil.

2 games after Okores return and I was out. Ridiculous tbh. Had no choice. Had sold Clark pre-season and Baker was injured (of course).

Over those 2 games he'd got 7.5 and 7.9 ratings, scoring once.

    Lerner out!

  4.

    Start unemployed you cheats

I always play a season or two with Villa or another big team just to get my bearings and used to changes. Then I'll start Dafuges challenge or something similar.

Blues beating me was the game that got me the sack.

    Fair enough really.

Poor show. I drew Blues away in the first round of the Capital One Cup.

Highlight of my season so far. Won 4-0, Grealish with 2, long term injuries to 2 of there "star" players and gave us a good ego boost after a few poor results.

Grealish has started every PL game for me so far. Won Young Player of the Month award once, came 2nd once and named in the Team of the Week twice. Still only in October of my first season. Delph is leading the way with 7.74 avg rating.

  5. I'm guessing the refs seen (from his angle) Baker win the ball whilst Cole stands on his ankle? Not sure if it was a foul tbh. We might've just got very lucky there.

Baker is a big loss for the last 5 mins

  6. Yeah, I'll be using the QPR game as more of a barometer. The run of games the last few weeks has been freak to say the least

Surely five 'freak' results in a row is the norm.

We're not unlucky. We're just bad.

  7. I can't help but think of this whenever Sol Campbell is mentioned during a conversation about racism.

This does not mean I'm rubbishing the idea that there is racism in football. I haven't got enough knowledge on the subject to weigh in. I'm just rubbishing the idea that Sol Campbell has a valid argument. About anything.

  8. Should've been Senderos for MotM, if not for that silly kick.

Great defensive display. Love how whenever we turn up against any of the "big" teams, it's not because we play well, it's because they haven't turned up. Despite having one of the best records against top teams last season.

"That's how you're gonna beat them Butch. They keep underestimating you." ;)
