And yet he is playing really well for us at the same time.

I don’t think that was the intention against Newcastle. Matter of circumstance gone awry.
But in possession, it allows for a lot of control with 3 ball confident center backs, 2 holding mids (I think Chambers was coming on for Kamara), and then two wingbacks. Spreads the width of the formation and allows striker isolation if the opponent presses.
Out of possession, you have 3 CB’s, two fullbacks, two center mids that can form a myriad of back line shapes as well as two or one strikers.
Cash - Konsa - Diego - Pau - LB
Kamara - Luiz
McGinn - Watkins
That’s going to be a tough nut to break.
Only nine outfield players?

The club has a duty of care to academy players as well. Keeping him, just in case, could have a negative affect on his whole career, compared to letting him go and play regularly. He may develop into a much better player that we can buy back cheaply, compared to if he stayed here in case five other players get injured all at once in the same position.

Also, and just hear me out, you don't have to look directly at something to see it. Bailey is so close to McGinn in that situation that he can almost certainly see a claret shirt out of the corner of his eye. Looking directly at something to see it is only necessary with mirrors during your driving test.

We play with one winger, just one in the first team, the other side plays more centrally in order to let the fullback run past. We have Diaby, Zaniolo, Bailey, Traore and even McGinn potentially ahead of him in the first team. He was never going to get significant playing time this season, which won't help him develop. Leaving to get more minutes was vital for him. Hopefully there is a buy back clause but either way he will bring in a seven figure sum for us to invest in the squad.

Apart from Acuna, which presumably would mean Digne leaving, I haven't heard of any other rumours regarding us. This makes me surprisingly positive as we have yet to pull off the "RKO outta nowhere" signing that we have had in the last few windows. Unforeseen incoming perhaps in the final part of the window?

@Jas10 just promise me that you are getting enough sleep. You must be on here nearly 24/7. Even when I couldn't sleep in the early hours, I popped on here and you were still posting. You must be a robot!

I thought Saville were in big debt and needed to sell their highest paid players ?
A quick 10 mill and a player off their wages should help, bearing in mind he's now 30 ish and not considered to be one of the very best left backs in the world ?
Does your autocorrect change Sevilla to Saville? What have you been typing in your search bar?

Wow, some people really don't know how to appreciate hard working players, do they? We were a relegated mess when he arrived and he was one of the more consistent, reliable members of our defence as we tried to turn years of downhill struggle around. Of course he wasn't as good as the talented individuals we are lucky enough to have at the club right now, but that doesn't mean you should be crapping all over his efforts in those difficult times.
Like a player at the club you support, or not, your opinion is fine, but show some respect to our players, past and present!

If caicedo is worth 110m how much is luiz worth?
No seriously how much?
Because i think luiz is a better player
You think he's better? Absolutely he is better. Far better. But if that is just Villa's little secret....fine by me!

Can we move this thread now he's gone to Bournemouth? Was never happy with this link.

I find his name funny. It's the same with Bobby Thomas, they just sound like 50s footballers to me. I can't help but say their names like an elderly cockney reminiscing about players from his youth.
Jumpers for goalposts? Marvelous isn't it.

Would Benjamin Pavard be a totally unrealistic target? Bayern want about €40m apparently and the move to Inter has fallen through as they only want to pay €30m.
RB/CB. hybrid. 27 y.o. He's pretty tall so works for the posters on here with a fetish for that.
I'd love him here, but that does seem a bit much for him. If we want him I'm sure we will have a go though. He has to want to come here too though.

Really don't know why we are not signing Adams. It's probably down to Dendoncker being injured so we can't sell him.
Maybe Dendoncker can be used in defence. Possibly at RB?
Or because Emery (and many on here) rate Dendoncker, the Belgian international, higher than Adams?

£10 million plus and I'd consider it.

Obscene waste of money that the usual contrarians have adopted to get some attention.
I hope you're not in charge of people's appraisals where you work! He's been just fine for us. Not the greatest player we've ever had, but by no means a bad player. Last season was a decent showing for us under Emery! A few important goals too. As to his wages, not that anyone here ACTUALLY knows what he earns, that's more the clubs fault than his for agreeing to them. If he ends up staying, he will be a solid part of the squad.

Torres, Konsa, Carlos, Chambers, Dendoncker, Kamara, Hause(long term injury) can all play centre back with no problems.
You don't think that there is enough quality there to cover two positions? Seriously? Our fifth choice backup, fifth choice, is a Belgian international who regularly plays that position for his country. Reality check. We do not need to replace Mings.

£6-8.5million?! It's a steal, it's a deal, it's sale of the f***in' century! Now do we want him or not?

Here's a really good tip on puns and how to be humourous with them, they aren't funny when everyone is saying them as they quickly become tedious, they can only have a chance to be funny when there's an element of surprise to them, when they aren't expected, something about the non sequitur in it's delivery, like if I was to make a pun now after all that it would actually be quite funny, but I don't wish to.
Sorry to say there's also a lot of unfunny pictures and gifs getting posted recently too, I always find the best way to be funny is to try not to be funny.
I can't think of anything to say about Acuna except for good luck to him if he does sign, from descriptions, reading up on his pedigree, and highlights, looks a fantastic player.
To be fair to @useless, he hasn't eggsactly been himself ever since the Ramsey to Burnley news hit. I think he's starting to crack!

Edit* have now looked and can't see what the fuss is about, but hey, good luck!
