I think this unwanted attention from Man City is most likely to spur us on to invest even heavier. ESR and JWP would be  huge statements of intent. This could be a hell of a stand off. My money is on the former European Champions, not the runners up. 

Having rich owners now isn't enough to get us in the Champions League now is it though, and Grealish probably doesn't care how rich the owners are. We can't give him European football next season. If that's what he wants he will go for the best price villa can get.

It's really that simple.

Ultimately we missed the boat in 2008 with Lerner and now the top 4 is effectively a closed shop. Anytime a team below have the nerve to get a good player they get bought by one of those teams to push the ones trying back down. So those teams can never break through. It happened with Young and Milner, and it will happen again with Grealish.

Getting down to realism. We won't get in the Champions League next season, let's be honest, even with Grealish. We are too far off. So either he leaves this summer or next summer either way.

Personally I prefer whichever give us most money which I assume will be next summer. One more to recover from covid. 

What we need to do then is not waste the majority of it like Tottenham did with the Bale money.

Also I assume FFP doesn't apply man Oil City either if she can afford him and Kane...

Like any player if he wants to go he will hand in a transfer request then all villa can do is get the most money possible.

This was always my worry with him playing for England, getting tapped up again like players before him. 

So it's 50/50 then basically if he stays

And how are we supposed to keep all these players happy without European games too. We only have so many games to play, we won't be signing 3 attacking midfielders this window surely. Yes there are cup games but let's be honest the league cup doesn't count.

Signing JWP and ESR...that's a few not even making the bench. I know we need to replace Barkley and Trez but it seems a stretch to me
