  1. I've been impressed with Lenglet, I think his vision and passing is actually very good, he can play those probing passes. Perfectly adequate back up to Pau in my opinion.

I think a lot of this game will be played in Evertons half, so we need to be switched on when they break. Early goal please, 1-3, Ollie brace and a screamer from McGinn.

  2. Knowing absolutely nothing about trademarks/copyrights etc, I was wondering if when an image like the alleged new crest is submitted, does that mean that only that EXACT image is covered, leaving the door open for a very close knock-off to slip through the net, or does it cover anything similar to the design? Like if I was to start a football club, and use the leaked crest image, but changed the font or colours slightly, or turned the lion round, could I get away with that?

My point is, could this be the basic premise that is trademarked, but still be subject to change after?

    Yes!

I'm dressed as a big baby and being spanked by a woman dressed as Maggie Thatcher!

    Anyone else?

I'm telling the twins from Fun House to not squabble and take it in turns

  4. I think top 4 (or 5 if it's enough) reduces drastically the possibility of any of our best players leaving, at least for another season. Not saying it wouldn't happen, but I think Villa playing Champions League football would be a hell of a bargaining chip if anyone showed interest in Emi M, Dougie or Diaby for example.

More to the point we haven’t had the injuries Spurs and Newcastle have because Emery knows how to manage games and a season, not just go 100% from the first minute to the last then be surprised when players are crocked.

Exactly. It's hardly 'luck' that we've got a manager experienced and intelligent enough to manage a squad properly, and who can come up with a winning formula that doesn't require players to go full throttle for 90 mins.

But yeah, poor old Spuds and Newcastle

Our fans in the ground have definitely grown and embraced the way Emery plays and those rumbles of nervousness when playing around the back seem to have dissipated massively which is great. That nervousness within the crowd definitely makes it's way onto the pitch and doesn't help the team.

My only gripe with some fans, and this may just be me, is screaming at certain players the first time they do something "wrong". I sat by the touchline a few weeks back and a few lads in particular were absolutely battering Bailey with insults about his work rate and I just can't imagine how that could be helpful to anyone. This, coupled with brain dead comments like "switch on!", "wake up Villa!", and "get it forward!" always annoy me.

At 34, this is the best I've ever felt about a Villa team and, while no team is beyond criticism, I'd love it if more fans could just enjoy the moment without hammering certain players like we're back in the Remi Garde era.

Agree that the expectation and desire of some fans to lump it forward has reduced drastically. Hats off to Emery for converting (most of) the fans to this style. I'm not that old, but no spring chicken either, I could see from the off that we'd have to get used to this new style, as it was here to stay. At the beginning, I'd hear lots of fans near us moaning and groaning, shouting at Mings, Konsa and Emi "stop f*****g around with it!", when it was clear they were under instruction from Emery to play that way. It's heart-attack inducing at times, and after decades of watching less cultured football I kind of understand the panic. But it's definitely better, Emery definitely has most of us on board now.

Do you work in mental health?

The cov fan has calmed down a bit in the last year since they're back at the ricoh. I think the foul air/damp/asbestos had got to him when they were lodging at the sty, the bitterness was hilarious, even calling us the 'vile'. Small Heath had obviously rubbed off on him, a bit like a nose rubs off on his sister

Oh they didn;t have Rodri...they've spent billions.

Ohh there bench was weak, over £200 million worth of "talent" on that bench ffs.

They have 2 injuries and 2 were suspended. Suspensions are their own fault, and Rodri should be suspended more he's the king of the sinical challenge.

    Fuckoff

Yeah I keep seeing comments about how many of their key players were out. Well the way I see it, without all of their financial doping inflating their income, allowing them to spend obscene amounts on star players, that team last night was the sort of team they'd have to put out if they'd not been cheating for the last 10 years. F**k em, f**k their plastic fans, f**k their mercenary players, f**k pep and Up The F****n Villa!

Would you take him back? I’m not even sure that I would.

Not sure he'd suit our style at the moment, from what I've seen it's all playing down the line, stop, play a square ball. Rinse, repeat. Shame really, the way he used to link up with Taylor and later on Targett, makes me think him and Moreno could wreak havoc.

I dunno, I think with the money, the draw of the PL, Unai, the players we already have and what were doing we can attract some very good players regardless

If we can get 2 or 3 more players on the level of Torres and Diaby we'll be fine

Kind of agree, I just think the lure of the champions league might attract more of that type of player. But you're right, we already seem to be attracting quality at the moment

Odd seeing that horses were there last night.

It's been years. I remember seeing a police horse charge when we played Coventry and they were running amock in the street.  Scattered them like nine pins.  Scary and impressive at the same time.

Was that the day they got relegated? I remember trying to get up to Witton Station from the holte and then saw the line of police horses charge. Like you say, scary to see, you wouldn't want to be in their way

Looked like there were Legia fans all over the home sections. Lots of people getting escorted out. I'm 99% sure the group in front of me in the Trinity were Legia fans but they kept their heads down.

It looked like something kicked off outside the north stand about 20 minutes in. Looked like maybe some of the Legia fans tried to get in

The North stand thing was because of a Legia fan celebrating their goal. One villa fan pushed him up the steps towards the exit, then a few more villa joined in when they realised what was going on. He had to run towards the bars/exits and we lost sight of him then (sat in mid trinity B7 with the lad). Loads of villa went after him. Then looked behind us and the same thing was happening in our block, Legia fans getting dragged out after celebrating. Stewards were slow to react.
