Grealish played more minutes for City last season than he did for us the season before.
wasn't that because of injury though

Sorry no, ever want him to grace the claret and blue ever again!
You dont say why, do you think he is not as good as the players we now have in the squad ?

Just a bit of fun in all the doom and gloom at the moment
Past transfers
Robbie Keane, Alan Shearer, Julian Alvarez, Enzo Fernandez
Future transfers
Rayan Cherki (Lyon), Kephrem Thuram (OGC Nice), Orkan Kokcu (Feyenoord), Thiago Almada (Atlanta), Gvardiol (Leipzig - not gonna happen I know)
Great subject post, I'v enjoyed looking at the comments.

For a future signing, I think our man Jack G should be brought back, and I think his lack of game time at City could impact his England place, so that could be a factor, maybee not, but it will be interesting to see how that goes, however if he is not a first team regular at an already over crowded Man City he may become restless only being on the fringe instead in the spotlight, so he may jump at a chance to come home if we get the check book out.

What a load of horse manure.
I doubt anyone here would have left both Coutinho and Buendia in the bench.
How many would have brought Young on when Cash was injured? I’ll tell you, none judging by the comments in the match thread.
We haven’t been good this season but credit where it is due, he got it right yesterday.
I could also quote the famous saying " even a broken clock is right twice a day" .When the broken clock is showing the correct time that is just luck, it doesnt mean the clock is suddenly working, its still broke. I suppose we could just wait another 12 hours and it will be the right time again. SG has been repeatedly critisised on this forum for his, team selection, team formation, lack of tactis and bad decisions. We get a draw against Man City and everyone thinks Gerrard has had an managerial epiffany, I hope he has, but I doubt it. I have been a Villa loyal for 60 years and I have seen us used as a training ground for newbie managers too many times, Villa are better than that so why do we do it. But regardless of your "manure" comment, you are a fellow Villa fan and I respect you views.

to not give him any credit for saturday just reeks of an agenda. to call it a lucky result is very harsh. should he have figured it out much earlier? of course. do we hope that he has learnt that this is how we should play going forward? also yes, and he is not out of the woods by any stretch
but try and enjoy getting a result against arguably the best club side in the world mate, just a bit
Do I have an agenda, you bet I do, my agenda is make Villa great. Also I never said it was a lucky result. The result was due to a superb hard fought effort by the players. What I said was he was lucky with his team choice, he has tinkered with the team too much, many other people have said the same, if the team he picked was down to his great managerial skills then how come he has been clueless for so many other games, and not just this season, how come he cant see how bad the McGinn appointment was. SG has been repeatedly critisised on this forum for his, team selection, team formation, lack of tactis and bad decisions. And of course I was thrilled by the result.

look if we're going to slate him for the shit performances he deserves praise for the good ones
and i doubt many on here would've had both coutinho and buendia on the bench
we actually looked like we had a plan and that the players were well drilled yesterday
I believe SG got lucky with his choice of team yesterday, if he had any managerial skill he would have shown it more than once in a blue moon, but we will see if he keeps it up, a good manager wouldnt keep playing McGinn as captain but his ego rules his head.

And yet the Genius has still got a player who isnt playing well enough to be on the bench as captain. He got lucky yesterday, if he had any managerial skill he would get it right more often, he has been clueless for months, not just this season.

Even if the bold bit is true, you do see why the first bit is nonsense right?
I pick Haaland and Salah in my FPL teams every week too.
This is when people get to trying too hard.
Its not nonsense. I cant believe that after getting a draw against a well below par Man City SG so many people have switched from sack to keep. All SG did was pick a team that should have picked itself 3 or 4 games back, he is still playing a woefully bad McGinn, he shouldnt even be on the bench let alone be captain, but SG's ego is ruling his head, that is a bad sign in someone who is still a newbie to management. Get rid now before we end up in a relegation battle.

A textbook example of why McGinn should be glued to the bench.
I think its generous to have him on the bench.

Fair enough. That was good Gerrard.
Gerrard had very little to do with it, he picked a team that half the people on this forum would have picked.

I’m one of the most consistent Gerrard out posters I would say, but there’s no way you can vote that very poor. The team selection was perfect. Mcginn got hooked first also. It’s a small step and you have to give credit where it’s due. Next weeks team will be telling
True, what you say makes sense, if I voted in the poll now I would up it to average, I cant go higher yet as I am still puzzled at him keeping McGinn in the starting 11 let alone captain, its bound to have a negative influence when your captain is consistantly so bad on the ball.
-
I marked the managers performance as very poor based on 2 things first, he has the worst player on the pitch as captain AGAIN, he is being stubborn, he should swallow his ego and put that right, and second, I did not see him do anything that I could say was good, he had no influence on the result.

5 mins into the 2nd half and the floodgates will now open

Three at the back park the bus
Three won't be enough we need eight at the back, with Digne in midfield and Cash up front.

Scored 9 goals an got 5 assists, would be ok stats for a season, however thats his total for 4 years.
-
I never believed SG was up for the job from day one, his CV is he won the title with Rangers, most managers from the second division could have done the same that year given Celtic had a poor year by their standards.

I feel we have aquired too many bench sitters, I believe we would have been better with less quantity of signings of players that were not even regulars at the club we got them from. We should have gone for fewer players but up the caliber of the purchase. That way we spend the same money but improve the team.
-
My prediction is, after this match a 99% SG out in the next poll. I cant say it will be 100% to get him out as SG himself might be voting.

Listening to all the Villa podcasts from the WH loss is giving me that angry/anxious sick feeling in my stomach. How quickly its all turned to shite is infuriating. How do you stop caring so much?
I dont think fans have stopped caring, quite the opposite, its because I care that I am so unhappy. If fans were unhappy but didnt voice any anger then thats not caring. Loyal fans dont roll over and keep quiet while their beloved team is being mismanaged.

I think a midfield of Kamara, McGinn and Ramsey all playing for a full 90 mins would be perfect. Obviously with Coutinho, Ings and Watkins attacking.
A bit optimistic to think we will get the ball in the Arsenal half though

Over the moon with the win, on the downside SG bought himself some extra time. We are so bad, an unpleasant thought flashed into my head, would I have sacrificed the win if it got SG out quicker, but I quickly dismissed that idea, however just the fact that is even poped into my head shows how bad I think our future is with that clueless noob in charge.
